  1. I was able to shoot my first match with my open gun. I haven't shot a match for several years. We'll see how the scores turn out in a couple of days. I have been loading VV N350 and 3N38. Started with 1 lb of each and both are virtually gone. Several shooters at the match told me they are shooting Winchester AutoComp. I know everyone has an opinion on powder, but I am thinking about trying it out. The VV powders are expensive.
  2. My zero was at around 20-30 feet. I tried at 5 & 3 feet and it was still hitting where I expected it to. The far shots were probably from 60-70 feet.
  3. No problem. Shot around 500 rounds and the c-more lense is less dirty than with the standard mount.
  4. I was finally able to get to the range and try out the vertical mount and thumb rest. I really like the c-more mount. My draw height is much more natural, since I am used to 1911s with iron sights. I shot the thumb rest in the more forward position (muzzle end holes aligned), and ended up moving it back one hole (hammer end holes aligned). I think I will leave it there or maybe even try moving it back one more hole (hanging off one hole on the hammer end). I am still getting used to placing my thumb in the correct spot on the draw, now it has to go somewhere specific. I had all kinds of fun, discovering problems as well uncovering answers to some curiosity. As much as I hate locktite, I will probably use a little. My mag release button screw backed out and two of my DAA mag pouches had loose screws. Also, I tested the shot impact at a longer distance and found the bullet hitting 6-9" high, which was very counter intuitive. My firing pin also had an interference problem with the hole in the keeper, and was not resetting all the way after a dry fire. I ended up sanding on it to relieve the interference. Overall, I am very happy with the 90 degree mount and thumb rest. At $165, together, these are two very worth while accessories in my opinion.
  5. I can't decide if I like the pedal all the way forward or all the way back. I am going to go shoot it today with it all the way forward. I'm sure it probably depends on what feels best for each shooter.
  6. I remounted it. Holes 1,3,and 5 are through the mount only and as you can see 2 and 4 are through the pedal and mount.
  7. All 5 of the screws thread into the frame. Knowing that, do you still think I need one more screw that goes just through the mount?
  8. I had to shorten the mounting screws with a bench grinder, but otherwise putting this together was pretty fast.
  9. Just got a 90 degree C-More mount (Cheely) and a racer's cut thumb rest. Going to shoot it this weekend. Follow-up reports coming soon.
  10. I am going to start out with a GM STI. I have read a lot on this forum about where to start, after I placed my order. So, I hope I made the right choice. I should have the gun in 2-3 more weeks. The holster, mags, powder, and bullets have arrived. I am still waiting on brass, big surprise, and dies.
  11. I am finally getting into an open gun, looks like I am in the right place! I have been involved in IDPA and IPSC over the last 6 years. I bought my first competition belt, holster, and mag pouches from Brian Enos' website and read his book several years ago.
