  1. Regarding the ignition problem with all tanfoglio are the following through my own experience

    1)  Primers need to be seated deep , (this is main problem )

    2)  Firing pin block safety touching the firing pin itself (try removing the fps and see if you have any light strikes if yes it's problem no1)

    3)  Light springs with hard primers

With 15lb springs hammer it should pop every hard primer so before spending money buying stuff you dont need just do these steps

I shoot a stock 2 for 5 years with factory parts, no extreme,  no domina and trigger is super fine everytime, but mostly rule 1 applies

  2. Last week i had a problem with the stock 2 not extracting at a competition using factory ammo. I use reloads for my training LRN 145 gr  with pf 132 coal 1.136 and shot quite a lot before the match without even a hiccup. At the match the first stage was ok  but the second one had a couple of stops ruining the stage and the third one had to stop . the issue was sort of double feeding , cleaned the mags tried again did the same then i changed to the stock 3 and work flawlessly . Ammo was factory Selier and Bellot 124 gr. what could be the casue

    thanks

My favorite load is coated lead 147 with 3.6 vv320. Right now my most accurate bullets out of my stock 3 are the blue bullet 147 RN

Well,  both were  installed in a buddies new stock 2.

With the factory hammer, sear and hammer spring it was   9 1/2# DA and 3 3/4#SA.  Adding the Unica hammer, sear, clipped PD 15.5 spring and 2-wing disco, it dropped to 6# 7oz DA and 2#3oz SA.

But in this gun it was FAR from drop in.

Adding just the hammer, DA stayed the same and SA dropped 1/2 pound. But, the hammer on a slow pull SA would sometimes drop to DA. Putting the disco that came with the gun (unica hammer comes with a disco) it wouldn't consistently drop in SA. This is a timing issue with the sear lift being out of sync with the trigger bar /disco wing clearing each other.   putting the unica sear in didn't change things.

I dug up some old 2-wing discos and fiddled with them. Adjusting the wing to get it to clear the trigger bar.  Naturally, the discos i chose were thru hard and a bear to work on.  Took a while, but it got done.

My opinion is the Unica hammer is right up to the edge of maximum geometry and any slight variation in parts can tip it over the edge to not working.  Or maybe my buddy's gun is out of tolerance? Not sure, but fitting this was a PITA!

But once fit, i think it will give the lightest trigger with the hardest strike force to the primer.  The need to remove one coil from the 15.5 spring for clearance should be kept in mind.

Interesting,  no fitting of the sear was needed.  AND the firing pin block works without going to the extended on.

so when you say tweaked the disco u mean filing the left from underneath to get it thinner ?

    thanks for the review

@SCTaylor I don’t think the Titan hammer makes a huge difference unless you’re after a combination of that and a Bolo, chasing the “zero pretravel, zero creep” kind of gun.

I had one. Discovered in short order that it takes some getting used to, messes you up when switchin to your polymer carry guns, and that Tanfos rock with factory hammer & 1pc sear.

    have to agree

tanfoglio runs great with  factory hammers  and 1 piece sear . both my S2 and S3 are factory with just minor polishing , just shoot them as they are

  6. If you want to fit the safety just take material from the bottom , do not over do it otherwise it will not function To  test it  hold the trigger back and lower the hammer until it starts engaging , and with a punch push the firing pin slowly feeling if it's moving flawless, if you feel it touching continue removing material from the bottom.

if you want the avoid all the hassle, just remove the safety it's legal in IPSC and put the extreme 2.0 hammer . With extreme medium hammer spring and light firing spring no issues with worst primers like Fiochhi and S&B

  7. It's the older version of the limited custom , still with a bull barrel but without the slide cuts, the one after this has slide cuts and the newest version tanfoglio change the cuts one the slide , enforced the the frame and even changed colour

    hope it helps

It looks like your block is hitting, yes.

You can either file the top of the tab down which blocks the striker:

Or you can file down the head of the FPB that sticks out of the slide - the surface you see with the slide pulled off, and where the sear actually lifts it.

I chose to file down the head of it, because it's easier to keep flat in my opinion. A few thousandths is the difference betwen properly fit, and junking the part.

First, I'd toss it in a bin somewhere and leave it out of the gun until you get it 100% reliable.

The ammo that you're feeding the gun: take a pair of calipers and measure how deeply your premiers are seated. Factory ammo is usually seated flush or very close. For a hammer-fired gun with lightened springs a flush primer is a high primer and the gun will not run on it without a spring like the EGD Medium, which is barely lighter than the stock one.

i have the same problem on the normal stock 2 , all parts are factory , should i do the same procedure to eliminate the problem ?

thanks for your expertise on the matter

  9. i had a discussion on facebook  on the STOCK 2 group regarding the new hammer but the comments were deleted,

i asked what is the difference from the TITAN and  if it can be used with 13lbs spring without having misfires, but the answer was no, also the guy said the DA and SA had good improvements over the first extreme hammer , hope it helps , looking forward for a detailed comparison between titan and unica

  10. i have both , and what i can say is that with right loads theyl shoot flat ,

i run the stock 3 with a pf of 135 145gr LRN and 10lbs factory recoil spring and shoots super flat

the stock 2 with a pf of 130  145gr LRN and 10lbs factroy recoil spring , but the grip is the most crucial thing when shooting fast in  my opinion

    hope it helps
