  1. If you want to shoot pro you need to be sitting on go when registration opens. I do not think AM ever filled last year. It has never been clear to me why anyone needs to do registration in this manner.

Funny, I've seen several references to Pro filling and AM being open last year in this thread. I found out about this match very late last year (late July) and wanted to shoot AM, but ended up having to shoot Pro because I was told AM was full.

As it was explained to me by Linda, there were about 25 last minute AM cancellations due to the Hurricane that came up the east coast during the week of the Pro-Am. That's what seperates the Pro from the Am- the Pros kissed the dog goodbye, petted the wife on the head, and figured the house might still be standing when they got back.

Roger that! If the wife can't handle a hurricane by herself then it's time to get a new one.

    :sight:

That would be a tempest, not hurricane!! And you guys better lay low if Mrs. Miculek is reading. :surprise:

  2. Hey GW, you should go ahead and sign Jesse up for being your promotion director. And if it keeps him, and his Mom, out of AM, first beer is on me.!! :D :D :D

If I don't get into Pro and have to shoot AM I promise to shoot everything weakhand. I'll even go buy a left handed Benelli, a left handed Stag Arms Model 3GL and left handed holster for my Glock. I guess if I didn't get into the Pro match I could just come out and RO. That would be fun too.

Oh man, that's a no win for us AMs. Not only do we get thumped, but it is by a guy shooting weak hand!! Would be cool to see you load the shotgun though.

  3. Why not both...PRO and RO?

I did last year. It was the most enjoyable match I've RO'ed. Laid back, good food, and I still get a kick out of sharing some of the AM stories.

The best was when Devon Niederbrach couldn't quite get high enough over the back window of the car on AM5 to get the last popper. No big deal, he put one through the rear windshield, hitting the popper in the process.

How about the knucklehead that came back to AM5 after about 2 hours to pick up his AR that wasn't in his gun bag at the next stage

Of course I have my favorite stories too. Like, while waiting for my next run at the 4x4 post shoot, there was some confusion over the scheduling. An unnamed, very appreciated RO announces to the Pros " hold on guys, we're gonna shoot some AMs first.". I got the hell out of there!! :goof:

  4. I recieved the same email. I just realized that I need to try to register for both Pro and Am just in case I miss the Pro registration I can still shoot AM.

    :surprise:

You would bump some poor AM from getting to shoot their first ever 3-Gun match possibly?

    :sight:

If I got unlucky and didn't get into the Pro match I would bump my Mom from the AM match in order to shoot at the Rock!!! The trip up north to beautiful Kentucky when its 100 plus and everything is dead and ugly in Oklahoma in the heat of Summer to spend 3 days shooting and partying with my shooting buddy's from across the county. Plus I plan to drive or fly home thru Nashville again Monday so I get to hang on the strip in the Meccas a free live music. Everything surrounding this match is awesome!

Dude, you already posted your top 64 e-mail from 3GN, no AM for you!!!

  9. Love this forum. I post some general questions about a Mark Otto Load 2 belt. In addition to some good user feedback, guess who contacts me? Yep, Mark Otto. He gave me lots of advice and ideas an how best to use the belt. He even offered to help me ID the belt as a 'skinny' or 'big boy' if I send some pics. Just great to get that type of support on a product I bought from the classifieds!! Thanks, Mark!

  10. I run a SLP and shoot Federal Target Load (main) and shoots phenomenally and also use Winchester Super-Target as secondary depending on availablity. I also noticed that it hates certain Winchester (lighter) target loads (FTF & FTE primarily), loves their AA loads (tad bit pricy however). Used Estate and Remington target loads and quite doesnt give me the perfered performance I'm looking for (I do use Remignton slugs and buckshot though).

I use what I can find that will run well 100% (in a perfect world) of the time in my shotgun with price being second (usually online the price only varies less than a dollar per box). Chokes, to me, play a big factor as well with what I shoot due to distances vary with different stages and with different styles of targets. You may also require to shoot slugs same stage.

IMO buy a box each of what you can get available and test it out in your gun. Select what fits your shooting style, what you like to pattern with varying distance, what you like to feel for recoil and base your decision on those things (if not more criteria). IMHO most important other than what you like, chose something your shotgun likes and functions well. No point going with something cheap if price is only concern if it cant run well.

What choke do you typically run the majority of the time?
