In my area, Dallas / Ft Worth, there are quite a few guys shooting the S_I guns in IDPA. I know of a Burkett Cross Competitor, a 5.0 Eagle, and a couple of other "commander" length guns that are shot by active competitors. They are about evenly split between ESP and CDP. As for the comment about these particular guns being "tactical" or not IMHO once you start keeping time and recording scores we are playing a game anyway. Having said that all games have rules and as long as your choice of weapon doesn't violate the rules I, personally, don't see the issue.
