    The stage designers did a great job, and the RO's were fair and consistent. That alone makes a great match. Thank God for no tunnels. Some of us need a larger car, though :-)

    I was fortunate enough to shoot with Kurt Miller and Trapr Swonson at this match. Great guys and very helpful. Watching these legends shoot was a real treat!

    In case you wanted more info: Inspired by Patrick Kelley's and Brian Payne's Vincis, I upgraded my 3-Gun shotgun from a Browning Gold Hunter to the Benelli Vinci. It includes a Nordic Components 10 rnd tube (soon to be 12), Nordic Components follower, and a MatchSaverz. Not sure yet what sight system, if any, I will put on it, but I do have a set of the TruGlo turkey sights I had on my Browning that look like they will fit. Opened the loading port and that was about it. The bolt handle and bolt release work great from the factory, but I do wish it had a larger safety button (apparently there is someone working on one for the Vinci). It is a very comfortable shotgun to carry, shoulder, load, and shoot.

    I know how much work the MD/RM/RO's and support staff put into a match. As a competitor, I have no problem with any of them shooting the match for score or walking the prize table. As long as they are honest in their scores and shoot the same stages the competitors shoot, I don't have a problem with it. Now if I see a majority of the RO's walking the prize table way ahead of their ability that I might see them shoot in other matches, I might question it, but I would have the option not to support that match again. For the most part, the expense of shooting the match would buy me any prize I might win. I just like shooting the match for score. Prizes are secondary. In the end, I feel that with all the work the MD/RM/RO's put into a match to make it fun for the competitors, they deserve to shoot for score and walk the prize table. Shooters will figure it out really fast if a match was poorly run and the match reputation would suffer for it.

    mgunner, like Brian, I have not had any issue with drop lever (that's the release button you are talking about). I load strong hand with the stock on my shoulder. I don't start my load 2 that far back, nor do I rest the shells on the trigger guard before putting them in the magazine. You could take a little off the drop lever, I did that on my SuperNova because that did get in the way a little. But I would maybe start by changing your loading technique a bit. Worst case, you can buy a replacement drop lever (#35) if you butcher yours up too much. Shane

    Boy, that's disappointing to hear. My Vinci has been running very well, although not a tactical. It's the standard with the Nordic Components tube on it. I've only ran a few Fed. Low Recoil slugs and about 250 rounds of 3 Dram Estates or Federals through it, and about 50 rounds of Win. SuperSport AAs. Had 1 stovepipe on the AAs, but couldn't tell you if it was the gun, how I was holding it or what. I've had good luck with my Vinci so far, but again it's not the Tac version.

    The only thing I know so far on the MN3GG Nordic Match is the date. Will you be at the Jeff Kirkwood Memorial Shoot this Sunday at Forest Lake? I will there and you can certainly try the Vinci. I have opened the SuperNova port a bit, but after working on the Vinci, I will be opening the SN port more and doing more chamfering. The Vinci shoots softer than the SN, but the SN also shoots softer than other pump guns. I have shot a 1301, but Ken has and said it kicks pretty good. I agree, its tough shelling out a few hundred for a stock just to get softer recoil when other brands give it to you stock (VeraMax, Vinci). Maybe try a LimbSaver buttpad. I put one on my Browning Gold and it made a difference. Walmart sells slip-on ones. You could try that and not have a lot invested, and even return it if it doesn't work.

    Hi Brad, I'm not sure if I'll shoot the SuperNova or not. I might run the Vinci. My brother, Jason, has a VersaMax and over Easter we shot several shotguns at his place busting clays. We shot my Browning Gold Hunter, his VersaMax, the Vinci, a Browning Silver, and a Beretta Xtrema. Shooting the same 3 Dram target loads, the softest felt recoil was from the VersaMax, followed closely by the Vinci. The Brownings were a far third with the Beretta seemingly the worst. I can tell you that the Vinci's recoil was a little different than the rest. It seemed more "straight" with the least muzzle jump of them all. At the end of the day, everyone was shooting the Vinci (there were 7 of us, including my 15 yr old daughter who hadn't shot a shotgun until that day) and everyone was hitting more with the Vinci than any other shotgun. The Vinci is noticeably lighter than the rest, too. Harlow won't make it this year, but might to another local 3-Gun match. He has to work that weekend. He really wanted to and if it was at the end of July he would have. He just can't take time off the week before July 4th. I have no problem shooting with you again. It was sure fun last year and I think even more fun is in store this year at Forest Lake.

    As a new Vinci owner, I looked for how people may have opened their loading port for 3-Gun competition. I found a few photos, but nothing about the process. I documented how I did it and posted it here. For anyone interested, this is by no means the only way to do it, but hopefully it's a good starting point for others.
