  1. Nealio: 180gr FMJ. I cleaned the mags for the first time prior to my posted results. Can the powder burn rate be a factor? I'm using Power Pistol.
  2. Skydiver: My ave FPS at 8.5gr (1.250 OAL) was 1,188. I reduced the above loads to 8.2gr (1.255 - 1.260) so I believe we are 1100+. I was not using the Sprinco. Until the last outing everything tested was all factory (14.5# recoil spring). After eight individual rounds did not lock open I then switched to the Wolf 16#. I really doubt that I'm bumping the slide stop.
  3. New witness limited 10mm that has 1,000 rounds down the pipe. The slide would, during the first 700 rounds, occasionally lock back properly with the new K-10 mags BUT I also had 18 failure to load with the nose of the FMJ flat nose bullet pointing up & resting on the feed ramp. The failures occurred with OAL's ranging from 1.245 - 1.255. Mostly at 1.245 - 1.247 & even a few factory rounds at that same OAL. On my last outing I replaced the K10 mag springs with Wolf xtra power & loaded the rounds to 1.255 - 1.258 +/-. I ran it with the stock recoil rod/spring for the first 8 rounds loading only 1 round in each of my two mags - No lock open. Switched to Wolf 16# recoil spring & 250 rounds later still NOT a single lock open even though the slide will ALWAYS lock back when manually pulling the slide back on a empty mag! The good news is that I had ZERO failure to loads! Still not sure if this improvement is due to the OAL, Wolf mag springs, or was it just breaking in. While my main issue appears corrected I would still like the slide to lock back. I checked the slide stop but found no burrs. Any help is appreciated!
  4. I know I read a post with the company that sells the rods in 1 foot lengths but cannot find it. The muzzle flash from Power Pistol is rough on the red FO sight. Thanks!
  5. Campmeat: just to be sure you understood my reply. You don't have to personally have purchased it from Davidson's. Your dealer may have used Davidson's as their supplier. All you do is call the # I listed & give them the s/n & they will tell you if it is one of theirs. If so then happy days are ahead. I'm hoping for you!
  6. Campmeat: I feel your frustration because I'm having FTF's with the nose hitting the side of the barrel/chamber in my Limited 10mm. Did your gun come from Davidson's? They are a major wholesaler. If you don't know call 928-776-8055. IF it originated from Davidson's they will give you a brand new gun & pay the shipping both ways! I know because I just sent my 2nd Limited back for a 3rd. This way you can sell a NIB gun and move on if you don't want to try it out. Maybe you just got a lemon. I love ny Limited which is why I'm sticking it out. BTW: my issue seemed to be with factory or handloads with a OAL LESS than 1.248. My feed lips appear to be in spec. I hope yours came thru Davidson's. Their lifetime warranty is for real - no BS!
  7. Just found the piece when my first sight went MIA: looks like .056 on my calipers. So far the closest I've found is .060.
  8. Time to order some FO rods. Does anyone know the diameter of the factory FO. This is for a Limited in case that matters. Thanks!
  9. Alan @ Sprinco told me his 2ndary spring weight is 15#. I'm just starting to use it while I try and figure out why I'm having many FTF's.
  10. To the OP: are you the original owner & did your dealer purchase it thru Davidson's Firearms? If so contact Davidson's (google phone #) & they will replace it with a brand new gun!
  11. Update: the new Linited arrived with the following differences: 1. K-10 black body/black follower vs defective chrome mag w/red follower 2. Rear sight real tight vs definite play on 1st Limited 3. Recoil spring bushing tighter fit 4. Slide feels tighter when locking back 5. The blade sight was easy to remove ob the 1st Limited, NOT this one so far. 6. I was able to adjust pre-travel screw easily. It took 200+ rounds on the 1st one to loosen up. Hope to get to the range very soon to test function. BTW: I called EAA with both s/n & was told the new Limited was imported 8/11 & the 1st was 4/11. They were not aware of any QC changes.
  12. The new limited shipped with the K-10 black body/black follower!
  13. Marked K-10. Thanks & will keep in mind for future mags. This mag was is being replaced with new Limited.
  14. J-Ho: this excellent service IS NOT by EAA. It is thru Davidson Firearms! I have had great service from EAA as posted here. If I sent it back to EAA I would have paid shipping both ways and had my gun repaired. With Davidson's I pay NO shipping and get a new gun! Awesome service warranty that Davidson's stands behind!
  15. I want to share the value of owning a gun that was originally supplied to a retailer by Davidson Firearms. Prior to purchasing a Witness Limited 10mm I never heard of Davidsons. The FFL explained they offer their own lifetime warranty (original owner) that exceeds the EAA warranty. I called Davidson's and confirmed what I was told and decided to pull the trigger even though I did not imagine needing this warranty. My Limited has had various issues that I decided not to contact Davidson's about. First the factory chrome mag was defective so EAA replaced it with a K-10. Second issue was my FO front sight went flying off and was lost so EAA replaced it for no charge - great service a 2nd time. Next both grips loosened up needing locktite - again not a big deal as I really like the gun. I've been working thru some malfunctions as previously posted and given all this I was still ok. Until last night when the tip of the extractor broke off! I began to feel like maybe I just got one of the lemons so I called Davidson's to explain the above. Morgan's first words were "we got to send you a brand new gun" - yes that is their warranty! He sent me to my FFL so they could call in the reason and the s/n. Davidson's had 1 Limited in stock and they are shipping it over night to my FFL WITH a call tag for the return - ALL on their dime! That is what I call service! Just wanted to share the value of owning a gun that Davidson's supplied to your FFL. I also want to thank all that have tried to help me thru various issues. Special thanks to Nealio and Skydiver! Let's hope the new baby runs like a champ and has the same ejection pattern of 4:00.
  16. Definitely under max @ 1.255. See my post today on Davidson Firearms Warranty!
  17. Is this a known common issue that requires more use in my 15 round magazine? This is my 2nd mag. I've probably loaded & fired 250-300 rounds with it. Today is the first time I attempted to load more than 10 rounds at a time. It sounds like the springs are somehow binding on each other not allowing the follower to compress to the bottom. Thanks!
  18. J-Ho: thanks! I do not shoot lead but I'm assuming the suggested OAL is way less for lead. I've only loaded 180 FMJ. My manuals range 1.250 - 1.260. I've noticed my factory rounds to be more like 1.245 - 1.250. I then loaded some between 1.240 - 1.245 with no obvious over pressure signs but I have not tested them in the Witness yet. I wasn't initially planning on going lower than 1.240.
  19. EAA replaced the defective chrome mag with the new K10. Now both are K10's. Could have been the factory mag before it was replaced. Still interested in the range others are having without any feeding issues.
  20. Ok. For some reason I thought 200-300 was considered break-in. How many rounds would you say are sufficient?
  21. dark3d: I've only got 500 down the pipe. Your took 3,000 to break-in? What OAL range now feed fine?
  22. I'm curious if anyone has determined that an OAL above or below a specific # is prone to the flat nosed round jamming on the feed ramp. I've had this 3 times recently. Two were my loads around 1.253 & the other was a Double Tap factory round.
