  1. Thank everyone for you imput.I have made a decision. I am getting the Springfield RO. The fit,and finnish is just to nice to pass on.I also read somewhere that they make a certain amount in Brazil, and some in the USA. Not sure if thats true or not,but this one is made in the U.S. I will probably get the other ones over time now that I have gotten a new job. Funny how life is. Have lots of time to shoot, but not enough money to shoot, but a couple times a month. Now I will have the money, and not enough time to shoot. :( Will put some pics of it up when Im done with it.I have plans for it.

  2. WST works very well with Moly bullets and Bayou Bullets AT OAL 1.180 or longer 185gr = 4.7gr wst. You can use it with Jacketed bullets 5.0-5.1gr with 180gr Jacketed Zero 1.180 or longer. 5" gun like STI Edge.

At 1.140 expect that you will blow the top off a few brass and split a few cases. HB + FP + SOAL = Kaboom do the math. HB=Heavy Bullet FP = Fast Powder SOAL = Short OAL

I've shot probably 20k at lengths of 1.185 to 1.200 with no issues, but as always start low work up. I use Federal SPP when I can get them else Win SPP. I shot probably 5k out of a CZ TS at 1.140 and sold it because I got tired of carrying right angle needle nose pliers in my pocket to pick the pieces of brass out of the chamber, messes up your stage good.

If you have a slow barrel then you need to find a slow powder. If you are way off on PF with these loads you got a slow barrel or you are doing something wrong like using a Lee FCD die or crimping the heck out of them.

N320 also works well and may just be a tick lighter on recoil than WST with Moly bullets, it is definately superior with jacketed bullets. 185gr Precison 4.5gr, Jacketed 180gr Zero 5.0gr, again the OAL is 1.180 or longer.

I have a friend who doesn't crimp his 40's. Is this a safe practice with a 40?I know you have to crimp a 45.
  3. No, I don't ... my gun is a 9mm. I will build a 40 Pro as soon as I find one. I don't load for the 40 at this time so that will be another project to look forward to.

    Mike

I have ben looking for a 40 pro myself for about a month.I have only seen one.By the time I got around to ordering it;it was gone. Some one said on another thread that S&W have or had a big order they were trying to fill, thats one of the reasons they are so scarce right now.Not sure how true that is,but thats what I read.We all no you can believe everything you read on the internet! :roflol:

  4. Hi John, just skip all that and come over to the DARK SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ray

I will conceder the darkside only if you don't pass out today after the match. Good job with getting USPSA going in Baker City,Or.You are a great guy ,and have worked extremly hard at making that work there. You should be highly comended.I will always be there to support.See ya today.Oh crap ! Gatta get if I dont want to get there when your shooting the first stage......Again !

  5. Ok! There has been a lot of these threads,so Im sorry if it seems a little redundant.I have a Springfield RO on layaway.Going to sell my M&P Pro 9mm. to get it.I really like the Springfield. Fit ,and finnish is awesome, and its forged. I have shot my friends 9mm Spartan. Heard a lot of good things Don't know about fit,and finnish. Ruger SR; do not know anything about it except for what hankfan has told me. I can't find one,but I want one.Would like to handle one befor I buy. Nice looking gun. Hankfan has a lot of good things to say about it. Give me your knowledge.

    Thanks,J.B.

  6. Why do you care that there are lead streaks in the barrel? Are they interfering with reliability? Are they interfering with accuracy?

It is a friends gun ,and would like to give it back to him cleaner than I got it.Are lead streaks no big deal.Thought it would just keep building on its self if I keep shooting it that way.I dont think its real bad but I have a IDPA match then a classifier to shoot I want it to be easier to clean after words. Some say to run oil in it with a patch after cleaning. Does this really help with the leading. Thanks for all the info.Never not been able to get the lead out of my guns.
  7. I am borrowing a friends gun,and his ammo.It is a 1911 Taurus .45 cal.I can not get the lead streaks out of the barrel.I have used Shooters Choice lead remover several times, and Hopps lead remover.Nothing is working.Never had this problem befor.Thought about shooting some jacketed bullets through it then cleaning it,but I dont know.Need it for Saturday shoot.Any ideas?

    Thanks,J.B.

  8. Wow, it's really hard to list the top five, I'll try list the Five most important ones for me. Perhaps not the best ones since some have led me to a group/artist that later released an even better album or that already had one out I'd discover later on.

Europe - Wings of tomorrow -84

Such a great album that was followed by, "The final countdown" a couple years later. Two really great albums I still listen to alot and that really turned me on to Europe and of course their guitarist John Norum. Unfortunatley John Norum left after that tour and for me Europe as a band ceased to exist. Sure they made some pretty good songs with Kee on guitar, but Norum had become my "house god" together with Gary and was impossible to replace.

Gary Moore - Wild frontier -87

This was my first real contact with Gary and after hearing The loner, I was stuck. He was a great guitarist and my biggest influence. Unfortunatley I only got to see him once, but that summer night hearing him play the blues, such a perfect night. When he passed this february, it was a great loss :(

John Norum - Total control -87

I was extremely bummed after he left Europe, but really soon after the departure rumours started that he was about to go solo. When Total Control came, darn not only did he play like a king, he also had a voice to match. He has released great albums in his own name ever since and the latest one, "Play yard blues" is such a masterpiece. He suffered a great loss when his wife Michelle Meldrum died (guitarist with Phantom Blue and Meldrum)and that have resulted in a couple oh so emotional songs.

    Whitesnake - 1987 -87

Just a kick-ass album, nothing but great rock'n roll and I dont think I'd listened to them if it wasn't for that album.

Europe - Start from the dark -04

Got to see their reunion show(or actually they had played a gig in Norway a couple nights before) at Sweden Rock Festival -04 with John on guitar and that night was magical. Had been waiting for that moment for 18years and when "Start from the dark" came later that year, it was such a great comeback.

Some other ones i think deserve to be mentioned even if it's not what was asked for.

    Testament - The new order

    Metallica - The black album

    Ghost - Opus eponymous

Satyricon - The age of nero

    Opeth - Watershed

... and the list could go on and on and on and on a...

Have you seen Evergrey,or Brainstorm?Had a chance to see Evergrey In L.A. with a friend, but had to work.Of course he said it kicked ass.I love the bands over there. Almost had a chance to tour with a band over there. Was bummed when it fell. through. One day Im coming over there for the festivals.

  9. Johnny, are you closing the slide stop with your right thumb? I suggest that you use a thumbs-forward grip and depress the slide stop with your left thumb instead.

Watched Ben Stoger, and a few other guys use there week hand to release the slide as they go back to there grip.

I have been doing this in dry fire practice, and its coming together really fast.Im so used to my M&P that it took me a couple of sessions to get comfortable with.Going to classify with this in CDP.Then see about shooting this in Parma,Id. in the state match. Not sure yet though.May be after I'll have time to find a slide release for next year.Is useing the week hand release faster?

    J.B.

  10. There's always next year. :)

Just started shooting in nov. of 2010,so a little slow on the draw(pun intended)on when ,and where every match is.I will be able to plan out better next year.Hope one day I can get up there, and shoot with you guys.I think its about a 7 to 8 hour drive from La Grande,Or.Oh buy the way after some dry fire practice, and 250 rounds at the range no need for the extended slide release on this gun.Got her down pretty good for the classifier in Parma,Id. next week end.Aiming for Expert.Ha!Another pun!

  11. If I can get enough dryfire practice in with it I can go with out it.Watched Ben Stoger, and a few other guys use there week hand to release the slide as they go back to there grip.I was looking to see if there was one that just stuck out from the side of the gun a little bit.Its hard to tell from pictures.Hey Duane do you guys hold the Washington State IDPA shoot up in your neck of the woods?

    Thanx,J.B.

  12. So if I use one its going to puncture my skin from recoil? Really dont want that to happen! Back to my original question. What would be the best one to buy for USPSA,and IDPA? Not positive Im going to put one on yet.I want to know what people use,and go from their.

    Thanx,J.B.

  13. I have a friend who has borrowed me a 1911 Taurus.I shot this thing great last week end in USPSA SS,but reaching the slide release was a bit tough to get to.I want to put one on,and use it in USPSA,and IDPA.In Parma,Id.after the IDPA match there is a classifier.I want to classify CDP with this gun ,and maybe use it in IDPA Idaho State.Whats the best extended slide release I can use for this.

    Thanx,J.B.

  14. Had a guy at are match use his gun to brush the vest out of the way to holster the gun.The barrel was pointing right at me and a freind. We were standing behind ,and to the left of him.He was a right handed shooter. That was scarry!

  15. I had mine fall out in the middle of my IDPA classifer. No F.O.in my bag.Guess whats in my bag every match now. Also one time the day after a match I got ready to clean my gun decided to dry fire it a couple times and the firing pin broke.I got one of thoughs in the bag all the time now to.Trigger spring to.

  16. I try keeping everything the same for both sports. Its better for consistancy. The only difference being the mag pouces.I did not like the DOH.When I would draw my thumb would hit it,and did not allow me to get a high grip on the gun.

  17. A guy had a SVI at the range.Got to talking, and he let me look at it.The sight is cut out under the FO,and polished. It seemed brighter to me.Some do not like the halo effect of a bright FO in the sun.The brighter the better for me.I would put a little light in that sucker if I could.Maybe I should have put this in gunsmithing?
