  1. Here are the USPSA rules:

    * January 2008 Handgun Rules w/ BoD Approved Amendments Through July 2010, effective August 11, 2010

From what I can see in the "APPENDIX D4 — Production Division" starting on page 77 of 108:

    APPENDIX D4 — Production Division

1 Minimum power factor for Major Not applicable

2 Minimum power factor for Minor 125

    3 Minimum bullet weight No

    4 Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length .38 cal. / 9x19 mm (0.354” x 0.748”)

5 Minimum bullet caliber for Major Not applicable

    6 Minimum trigger pull No

7 Maximum size Handgun and all magazines (revolvers are exempt) Yes, handgun with empty magazine inserted

must fit wholly within a box with internal

    dimensions of 8 15/16” x 6” x 1 5/8” (tolerance

    +1/16”, -0”) (8.938”x6”x1.625”)

    (227.01mmx152.40mmx41.28mm)

The XDm 5.25 is also listed on the approved firearms list:

    * USPSA Approved Production Gun List

  2. The weight of the XDs could also be that they designed the extra weight for controlability, and/or, the additional weight was needed to allow the firearm to be imported. Just guessing here...

  3. If you could build your version of a USPSA competition AR 15 (optics excluded at this time), what components would you choose in your firearm? Just some examples below, but you can add anything else you would like:

    • What upper receiver would you want?
    • What lower receiver would you want?
    • What barrel would you want?
    • What length of barrel would you want?
    • Would you want traditional gas driven or piston driven system?
    • What trigger system would you want?
    • Would you want a full length stock or a collapsible stock?
    • What comp / flash suppressor would you want?
    • What Bolt Carrier / Bolt Carrier Group would you want?

  4. I was looking at them again online, and noticed that the new 5.25 is actually slightly lighter than the 4.5 version? As per the Springfield Armory web site, the all black 5.25 is at 29oz (weight w/empty mag), and the 4.5 is reported at 32oz (weight w/ empty mag).

I would have to assume this is due to the the lightening cut at the top of the 5.25 slide. I understood that they (SA) were trying to match the weight of the 4.5, but it seems that they actually came in even a little lighter.

  5. Thank you for the video!!! Great information and loved watching it work through the targets.

Based on your shooting in the video, SA should probably offer you a spot on their SA team!!! Nice shooting!!!

Would a full length (5.25" instead of the 4.5") guide rod be possible and offer any advantage? Also, would it be legal in IPSC and/or USPSA competitions?

  6. Tagging along to see what the experts recommend and come up with.

From what I can see and understand that the new XDm 5.25 comes with, I would probably want to upgrade the guide rod to something heavy and allowed by USPSA, magwell that fits the large backstrap, a 3.5ib. trigger, and running 40s&w ammo.

  7. I don't have enough posts on this forum to provide the link, but if you go to the Guns America web site you should see it on the main page. You can click on it and read the article about it and see pictures.

Looks like I will have to save my pennies again to acquire me this version now... LOL!!!

  8.

There has been guns sent back because of malfunctions but I would say some of them are sent back because the shooter just doesn't use the proper ammo, doesn't shoot enough rounds to break them in.

    Hello;

I recently acquired an EMP 9mm and was curious about your statement above in regards to using the proper ammo. Could you please expand on this a little more and if possible, what ammo should be run through her?

Thanks for your helps with this!!!

P.S.: I saw the one on your web site and that EMP looks absolutely amazing!!! The EMP already shoots very nice out of the box, but after your work it must be a dream!!!

  9. Thank you for your replies!!!

I checked with the USPSA and received this response:

    Linda (
Linda Chico / USPSA Area 6 Director
) is correct, the conversion would be legal in Open, Limited and Limited 10 divisions, it would not be legal for Production, Single Stack and obviously Revolver.

I have approved this setup prior when 500 of the frames were manufactured.

    Regards,

    John Amidon (
    Vice President/NROI Director
    )

  10. Hello;

I am new to the game and noticed recently that there are some aftermarket steel and other alloys glock frames available.

Would a converted Glock to a steel frame or other alloy be allowed to be used in USPSA and/or IPSC matches?

I read through the rules and the Special Conditions as the ones listed below for the USPSA Limited Division are unclear if it can or cannot be used:

    • 19 Handgun specifically approved for Division Yes — see Special Conditions

    Special conditions:

    — Any complete handgun or components with a minimum production of 500 units by a factory and available to the general public.

    — A complete handgun may be approved for USPSA Limited Division after the NROI Manufacturer’s Declaration form stating that a minimum of 500 have been manufactured and available to the general public has been submitted and NROI has inspected the handgun for compliance.

    — Handguns on the Approved Production Handgun List are authorized

If it can be used, is it limited to only be used in certain divisions?

Thank you for helping me with my questions!!!

    Good Luck And Be Safe!!!
