  1. A photo Radar Van !

So the city or the state pays for someone to drive a van to trap drivers speeding?

Beaverton Oregon did that starting in 1997....it was a little trailer they parked in a driveway 100 yards from where the speed limit went from 45 to 25. I think I told the story elsewhere....

  2. One thing I can tell you about the company is Mike is a really good guy to do business with. Sold me a DRO for my Hardinge and later the 3rd axis for my CNC Bridgeport. Both times he beat everybody else's price. They're offering free shipping for some of the machines, too, so that adds up to anywhere from $500 to $2k depending on where you are.

  3. Not long ago my neighbor got his truck broken in to....another neighbor was down the street watching it go down and called police (they caught them). When the police came to take statements the neighbor who called (who had WHEELS stolen the week before off his wife's suv) asked the cop "can I shoot them?"....the cops answer was "if you feel threatened".....just thought I'd share that... ;)

  4. The best answer I always give is go to a match and just yell out "anybody want to let me shoot their open gun?" I'm thinking practically everyone would be happy to let you shoot their gun.

That's really the best way to figure out what works for you. Shoot as many different guns as you can. Eventually one will sing to you, and that's the gun you should build.

  5. yeah that would work except i'm looking to use it on my m&p 40 (probably should have written that in my opening post) And the only threaded barrels have 1/2"-28, 1/2"-32, or 9/16"-34 threads. Anyone out there make custom comps?

    PM me and we'll talk....

  6. Saw one of these on a very nice Mercedes in Scottsdale a few years back. Must have in my opinion if you live in an area with speed cameras.

They did an episode of Mythbusters on those. They don't work. And I can guarantee you if a cop spots one it is an instant ticket. In Oregon it's about a $240.00 ticket.

Yep, I hate photo radar. I think it takes away all the discretion from the officer issuing the ticket, does nothing to promote traffic safety and just seems to piss everyone off in general.

I got nailed in Beaverton in '97. Lame thing is my wife had just called me and told me she had been in a car wreck. This particular PR was on a little trailer they parked in a hidden area about 100 feet past the point where the speed limit changed from 40 to 25.

She new a Portland cop and a Beaverton cop and they both said they hated the idea, too.

  7. We use Fortal for die shoes on our stamping dies. Decent stuff.

If you can find it cheap enough another choice is 7068. It's called ultra high strength...a little tougher than 7075. But what you got should be just fine. You're only doing testing.

  8. OSU has a pistol club? Here at Indiana University, there used to be a range in the basement of the student union (so goes the rumor, but from people who claim to have shot at it). Now it's been taken over by anti-gun crazies (grumble grumble).

OSU is actually the one program (going for a math PhD) that I got accepted into for the fall, but I haven't accepted yet because my wife is still looking for jobs. Now that I know you have a pistol club, I might have to push harder to go there!

    What does your wife do?
