Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I think I get it. The inner belt has the velcro on "both" sides of a plastic insert. In other words, the insert is actually the belt, with velcro on both sides of it. If that is the case, then mine is ok. It will fit through the belts loops. I haven't checked my wife's yet. Want to catch this quickly if I (we) have the wrong stuff. Thanks Much! 2. Can you folks tell me what you are talking about regarding polymer or plastic inserts?? I just took delivery on two black ones & they are like my friend's who suggestion CR. My only disapointment was in that the velcro is not firmly attached or sewed on the ends. Thanks!! Good & Safe Shooting - JC -
  3. PE- I tried to buy Blade Tech when I started shooting last Aug. 03. I left messages etc. and no one got back to me. I know people who use the equipment and like it a lot. Good & Safe Shooting - JC -
  4. Steve - where do you find the Comp Tac gear & do you know if they make stuff for the XD? Also, I spoke with C. Rayner yesterday and I understand that she has "your gear" & getting ready to ship. Good & Safe Shooting - JC -
  5. Shred - Sorry for the confusion. I was only referencing the Bretta Mags as a "size" comparison to the XD Mags so that I can get Mag Pouches. Plan on using strictly XD mags. On another note, I had read on a thread here that the .40 XD mags would hold 15 ea. 9mm rounds and it was legal since the Mags had not been altered. Well, I tried it and it works! Thanks. 6. Looking for suggestion on holster & mag pouches for a XD tactical. RIID has provided me with some via Safari Land but I thought there might be more. Are the 92 Bretta & XD .40 Mags the same? I received a "Low Boy" hoslter with the gun but do not like it as my left thumb hits when trying to grip the gun and clear it from the holster. Any suggestions appriciated. 7. Remember a thread similar to this. Consenses was to use a "Torch Type Lighter". Some people were having problems with the f/o breaking after they reinstalled one. Theory seemed to be that a "longer melt" time, i.e. match or regular lighter, weakend the f/o down from the melt by extending the melt time. The super glue senerio was consistent. I have had Dawson's on 3 guns for a year and my wife or I have not broke a f/o yet. (now it will happen) I clean my with Alcohol Swabs after each shooting & sometimes darken the front with a Sharpie if the sun is too bright. Good & Safe Shooting - JC -
  8. OK, I now own a XD Tactical in a .40. So now my appeal is to all of you XD Guru's as to what Mag Pouches you use?? I haven't found any and I don't want to be shimming and making do with something that doesn't fit. I have been told that the XD Mags are very similar to the Beretta 92 Mags. Any comments. Doubles or Singles. Thanks - Good & Safe Shooting - JC
  9. Don't know why the link didn't appear??
  10. Rich, Check out this site (you probably already do) & you will see my concern about HPs & XD XD Page I get the impression that this is a pretty common problem however I am unsure about cal. Nevertheless, I am still going to pursue one. JC
  11. Steven, thanks for the article info. Dug it up & read it. Pretty good overview on Production Guns. XD seems to have the advantage on reloads a bit. Still have only one feedback on HPs & this gun. The web site I was refered to makes a lot of reference to this problem. + some info on tweaking the Mag Lips to make HPs work (feed) right. 12. davidwiz - What issue of Front Site??
  13. Well, the contributions keep coming! The consensus seems to be that the XD has it's merits for the price and, there are modifications that can be made. blackdragon, no doubt that I would "bench" the gun in stock configuration particularly after break in. Perhaps the stock bbl will be satisfactory. As far as the trigger, being used to a lighter trigger and a shorter reset, I will probably have a "job' done. I have found out that the gun will/can use 1911 recoil springs so this seems nice in load development. One thing that has not been mentioned my me is that once upon a time in a Thread on this site, experienced .40 shooters were talking about that calibers ability to be loaded in both Minor & Major with the Minor loads having less felt recoil than a 9mm. This along with the ability to shoot L-10 & Production couple with the "hand cutting" problem with my Glock has led me to the XD. I do not believe that the XD will ever replace the Glock but because of my requirments, it may serve. Now all I have to do is find a 5" Tactical. Good & Safe Shooting - JC -
  14. Thanks blackkdragon, nice to know. I was sorry to hear that KKM had no plans to make bbls for the XD. The ones in my Glocks run really good. My wife is shooting the 17 w/a KKM in it and at 25 yds., she continually blows the center out of the 4" center of a 6" pie plate. I forget who mentioned it but Bar Sto is making a bbl and I know that they are good. I would fear that because Bar Sto chamber their bbls to SSAMI (may have got that a little wrong), reloads may not chamber as well and may have to have the bbl reamed and rethroated. But...I am really out of my depth here. Perhaps someone will clarify that point. My order for the XD fell though as there do not seem to be any around where I am. Had a thing going on a trade with my G-21 + goodies for a XD package but not now. I do have one fall back position on a used one though. OH ! Are you shooting your Tactical strictly stock??
