1. Not what the rule says:

Magazine releases, slide stops, safety levers, de-cocking levers, hammers, and triggers, that are stock on one SSP legal firearm may be used on another SSP legal firearm from the same manufacturer provided they are drop in replacements. Parts in this list must come factory installed on standard production firearms.

DPA still has not learned.  The first World IDPA match had SO squads shooting by vehicle lights.

Not just the SOs, I have a friend's squad pictures just after their last stage, illuminated by headlights.

  3. How did they sneak in under the radar?  We had all sorts of free advertising for Expansion Industries vaporware, never heard of White River.

I might think you guys are joshing me when I read

    that

    White River Energetics Manufactures:

Small, Medium, and Large Pistol and Rifle Primers
using the traditional Lead Styphnate process.

    Medium primers, really, now.

  4. The first Summer Sizzler in Tennessee, the 90 shot Classifier was broken up into several stages and incorporated into the match.  It was a two day affair, 20+ stages all told.  The results included a Classifier only time and were color coded, did you fall in your announced class, higher, or lower.  I did better, the first time I shot Expert on a classifier.  But HQ would not accept it because it was not shot all together in order.

My favorite concept of a handicap system would be to take the USPSA system and revise percentages so you have closer to an even spread in d-c-b-a-m-gm and to add a kicker downward so that classifications were not stuck on your best effort from 20 years ago.

I once read that in the early days, it was the other way 'round.

A was a half dozen guys who would dominate a match.  If one was there he would win.  If two were there they were competing for first and second place.

B was a half dozen guys who would lead if none of the As showed up.

C was the top half of the general crowd, D was the bottom half.

The part it gets murky on now is reloading with one in the chamber is allowed, but you can't reload in the open if you're exposed to a unengaged target. But what's considered exposed is where it gets funny. Even if you can't see the target because there is a wall between you and it, unless that wall is cover you're still exposed to it.

I know an MD who really pushes the "vision barrier" gimmick.

No, you can't see those targets from behind the vision barrier and no, you can't reload there, either.  You have to move to where you can.  The activities at the last POC are wonderful to see.

  6. While most SOs would probably figure you had done yourself enough of a disservice, I think that digging in your pocket for that odd magazine would be disallowed by:

8.6.3.4  The same exact location for speed loaders, speed loader pouches, moon clips, moon clip pouches, and/or

ammunition feeding devices in pockets must be used for every stage in a single match, unless otherwise specified in a stage description.

They have IDPA shielded  safeties available.

    And IDPA mag well funnels.

I think a double stack is a smart move for IDPA.  You are limited to 10+1 in ESP/CO now, but I think the move to 15+1 in SSP will eventually be followed in ESP.  Means I will shelve my Colt and shoot my STI.

Wisecracks about Wilson preference notwithstanding, I see more Nighthawks in my area than Wilson.  Not that there are many of either.

  8. That is the restricted capacity version for your jurisdiction.  Several makers do that, a short magazine tube, a long plastic base/filler piece.  Others use dents to keep the follower from going all the way to the bottom, with cuts so you can't grind out the divots.  I think Glock molds theirs as an internal single stack.

Overall I think its a winner with either glock or 320 magazine options.

P320 magazines?  I can't find that on their www.
The grip texture was the chain link option which was not agressive and kind of slick like the "golf ball" feel mentioned previously. It's apparent that the texture is meant for carry and not aggressive enough for competition.
Seen that here and there but no mention of tape or grit that are routinely applied to other guns. Howcome?

If accurate that's pretty close. I bet it could be messaged into the box. Just cut that beaver tail back a little and maybe install shorter sights.

There is also some wiggle room in the box most of the time.

It is as accurate as the IDPA rule book and the Nighthawk catalog.

I have seen Box shenanigans that would make you shoot USPSA.

This is how SV lightens their slides.

Great, I cherish a picture of an SVI in plain flat and square blue without superfluous cuts.

But looking on their website, such plain guns are a small minority among the outright gaudy stuff that people buy.

  12. Great, somebody went back to 1950 and lightened a 9mm slide without all the external flutes and portholes of the current styling fad.  I wish other companies would do the same.

A friend put one of those Nighthawk package lockwork kits in his Prodigy and is quite pleased with it.

  13. You might inquire at Apex; they are selling a steel guide rod for the Echelon.

Randy Lee says the stock spring is so stout that he includes a "compression tool" to help get it back together.  He doesn't list replacement springs, so you would be on a search for something that would fit the gun.
