Just a clarification.
I am also using Win 231 (which I am told is the same a Hogdon 38).
I am using Winchester Small Pistol Primers (SPP).
And using range pick up brass.
I am reloading on a Dillon RL550.

I see what you mean. I just looked at Hogdon's reloading page (http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp). You (and I, also, as I will be loading something similar to those bullets, later - also in 40) probably need to start with a 4.1 gr charge, using the 1.125 OAL, and gradually work up to see how our weapons handle each charge.
Montana Gold has provided me good bullets in the past, but this time I'll be using some Speer 180 gr FMJ, so I'll have to work my way up, also. Sorry for the lack of a specific answer, but I haven't gotten to those bullets yet.
Good Luck on your reloading! I am enjoying it (reloading, and shooting!)
I'll be interested in any other responses to this thread!

You might indicate the powder you are using, so someone can answer. I don't have any answers, but that info is critical to decide on an answer. Also, I know people are going to suggest that you use some of the reloading handbooks.
Good luck.

I also had the problem the OP mentioned with crushing of brass on station 2. I have been reloading only since the middle of Jan 2011, so am very new to possible problems. Many times I simply assume I am doing something wrong. Often I am, but occasionally a comment here will point me towards a solution to a problem I wasn't even aware I had.
The suggestions of cleaning and tightening the tool head has resolved that problem.
I lurk on this forum a lot, and get answers to questions that I don't even know I have!
Thanks to all of the people who DO post here!

Well, I'm not so happy now. I was expecting the bullets to arrive today. I didn't see them in the mail delivery so I called Manny. It turns out they didn't arrive on Friday and didn't get shipped. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't called. NOT COOL. Now I'm waiting until next week to get my bullets. Crap, crap, crap, crap, CRAP!!! I'm wondering if I should just buy them from Montana Gold directly.
I have ordered from Montana Gold 3 times in the last 2-1/2 months. Very good response on all of the orders! 1 was for 9MM 124gr FMJ, the others were for 40S&W 165gr CMJ. They had them in the mail (Priority Flat rate Box) by the next evening. No problems. Except weight - picking the box up - when they arrived at home! Best wishes!

I am currently using a kinetic hammer to remove bullets from casings. I am considering the Hornady Cam-Lock bullet puller. If I do get one (with the proper collets - 9mm & 40S&W), will I be able to mount it in station 1 (really any station) on the Dillon 550? (The Dillon is brand new - just started this year) Or do I need to consider a completely separate 1 stage reloading press?
I guess another question would be which Collet bullet puller I should really be looking at? The Hornady seemed to be what I thought I needed.
Thanks for any info.

Thanks to you all for the responses. I do understand the cautions, as well.

I am a newfer to reloading. I intend to use crushed walnut (PetSmart) for brass cleaning, currently with no additives. Can the cleaning material (crushed walnut) be re-used, and if so, what do I look for to decide to NOT re-use the cleaning material?

I would like to know what OAL you are using with that W231 load for the 147 gr bullet.
