Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for all the replies, but it doesn't seem like anyone is any better off than I am. What I mean is I have seen pics and had my opinions about what they may or may not be use wise, but pictures and actual field experience are way different. Maybe they are too new for anyone to have tried out and form an opinion. I must say though that it seems like a good idea, I agree that they are "busy" but honestly I don't think you would notice the night sights during the day and vise versa with te FO during low light.
  2. I have been on both sides of this. My first year was 2000 and I begged a shooter to go with me that had been there before. He and I were the only ones to go from our area. In 2004 that changed quite a bit. We now have quite a clan. I also have an apprentice that I first met when he was 9 years old. He's almost 22 now. He's now kicking my butt every now and then. It's getting more and more often as I get older. If you are going by yourself then we can hook you up with someone that can show you the ropes. I say that because we have to have someone on nearly the same shooting schedule that you are on. That way we can all utilize the practice range as much as possible. What are you shooting (Open, Met. or Prod)? What kind of gun are you shooting? The reason I ask is so we can get you as prepared as possible before you get there. Do you have a range to shoot A/P? I will be shooting Met. shooting a SW1911DK in .45. As for a range, i live in OKC and there is a range 20 miles away in Shawnee.
  3. I'm going to start loading for my trusty .45 and want to work up a load for the Bianchi Cup. since there is no power factor to worry about i was wondering if the .45 guys prefer to push lighter bullets at higher velocities to decreas the lead required for the mover. I am new to reloading for pistol so please try to be specific about components. thanks guys Clint
  4. Have you ever taken someone along with you? what i mean is, i would love to tag along with an experienced shooter to the match, kindof an apprentice if you will. Not that I am asking you personally, but have you seen or heard of anybody doing this. I am from Oklahoma and would love to tag along with someone who has "been there done that" several times. what do you think?
  5. Hey has anybody installed the new Viking tactics sights yet. thought about getting them for an M&P 45c i have on order. Looks and sounds like a good idea, any thoughts, likes, dislikes. thanks guys
  6. This will be my first year at the Bianchi Cup(2011) and i was wondering what the atmosphere was like for the new guys. I would like to get some pointers and help from the experienced guys without being a pain in the you know what. i realize that this is a very serious competition for most so i wasnt sure if there were times when the new guys could talk with the Pro's. Thanks Guys
  7. i chose to buy the M&P PS 9mm over the Glock 34 recently. i love glock but like several guys have said before, the M&P is everything the glock could be (thats just my opinion, the last thing i wanna do is piss of the glock community). plus im a lefty and the M&P is fully ambi'd. on a side note, i have also been thinking about 4.25" with the safety for a carry gun, anybody have any experience with that model; likes, dislikes.
  8. Here is the brownells URL http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=16405/Product/1911_AUTO_SHOK_BUFF_RECOIL_SYSTEM
  9. hey sorry guys, i wasnt specific enough, my bad. i was talking about the Wilson Combat Shok-buff "Recoil System" which comes with the items Roy stated above. I found it on Brownells and in the description it stated "Prevents expensive frame damage and softens the felt recoil of high power competition loads." This is why i was wondering how it compared to the STI. I will do some research but i like to concider this research as well, haha. its good to get advice from shooters that have actually used the product or something similar. BTW i forgot to mention that it is for a SW1911DK in .45. thanks guys
  10. LT 45 Might check but I'm pretty sure that the max length for mag in limited 10 is 171.25 for single stacks, which is the most popular gun shot in that division.
  11. Wilson Combat shok-buff recoil system VS STI recoil reduction system. First question, do these so called "recoil reduction systems" actually work? Second, I'm new to the 1911 world so I'm wondering if they are designed to do the same thing. Know alot about both companies and that both products should be good quality so I'm just wondering why there is a large price differense.
  12. No worries. I just like to get peoples opinions that have been involved on the sport. I didnt even think about the quadrail being a a problem. Glad I asked.
  13. My mind is not made up. I will say the DDM4 is not 1500(that's msrp)? I can get it for 1100, but I do agree that it may not be te beat rifle for 3gun after doing a little research on the sport. I'm not necessarily on the TACTICAL kick either, I actually like the tube better, just wasn't sure of the preferences for 3 gun.
  14. I would love to have a JP but man I'm just not to that point yet. Graham did you just buy the dpms 3G rig?
  15. You can definetly tell its a real pick, you can see the grove marks on the bullet. really cool pic, really scary situation. Thanks for posting that, really makes you stop and think about how important it is to be careful when you are reloading.
