    Burn Out...

    I've noticed the onset of burnout and avoided it by changing my environment.Im fortunate to live in a town with 5 separate clubs and 2 more a hour and a half from the house for weekend matches.With seven monthly matches with classifiers available,along with 4 three gun shoots every month, I found moving around ,shoot with different people and groups will put enough new perspective on shooting to keep it relative. Shooting the Steel Challenge matches give you a break that not only revives some basic skills(draw n fire) but lets you shoot in auto mode without having to think your way through a stage. To surmise my reaction to shooting burnout is shooting in itself.

    I'm so sure that I will never get burnt out if I ONLY shoot....

    I may be wrong, but I think the main reason for being "Burnt Out" is all the volunteer work such as:

    -always RO'ing

    -BOD

    - designing and building stages

    -running scoresheets/stats

    - website maintenance

    - building and repairing props

    - listening to complaints by those who don't help( worse by other BOD's)

    - using your personal truck to haul

    .... Can't really focus on your game if you're doing these.So I guess I'm Burnt Out :-(

    For now I swear by the Dawson's ( the rusting is my only issue, i see no reason sending it back to have it re-blued, maybe have it metal treated though). I've tried other adjustable sights but didn't like that they glared and not have a crisp sight picture.

    Get a pistol if you want to play around with quiet sub loads - it gives you more latitude. Otherwise, if you are willing to 1680 for subs, and/or have a can, the carbine is fine. I have found that the carbine gas 16" stuff is considerably smoother shooting than pistol gas when using supers (I have owned both.)

    Pistol gas with adjustable block is the best solution as long as you run a good block.

    Thanks, that is what I was thinking, and will go with a Syrac adjustable block if I do..

    Now lets say if I got a carbine length gas, and the action starts to short stroke with sub loads, would a lighter BCG and/or lighter buffer cure the short stroking?

    It is still really soft. I used to work for the phone company. They used lead for the outer sheath on their cables in the 'old days'. The scrap sheath was excellent for round balls and conicals, for use in muzzleloaders, but too soft by it's self, for casting bullets that will be used in modern pistols.

    any idea what the alloy content is? I tried researching on the web and I found some are alloys with copper.there is also a tire valve on that piece that I have.

    It will probably help enough to be noticeable. Adjusting carbine gas can be tricky. The port size is smaller, the pressure is higher. The failure rate is consequently higher. Definitely go with the Syrac clamp-on for this application.

    What about also increasing the port hole with the adjustable gas block?
