Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. HI, I was in the same boat and just settled on .260 Remington. It shoots so nice, 6.5mm bullet is very efficient (high BC), a lot less recoil than .308, plenty of factory components available. Savage has just come out with a factory rifle the Model 12 in that caliber too. I'm having my Savage action rebarreled right now with a Shilen Select Match barrel, bedded into an XLR Evolution chassis. It's topped with a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 scope, on a 20 MOA Warne rail. I'm using it for sniper/precision matches out to 1000 yards no problem. FYI, the Sightron is a really nice scope, my only minor thing is the crosshairs are a bit thick... but great glass, solidly built scope, half the price of Leopold or Nightforce. After a while price does become a factor in my life. Thousands spent recently... wife would kill me if she new all the costs.
  2. Just got back to Canada, that is one looonnnggg ass drive! This was my first match in the states and I LOVED IT!! Squad 2 - great bunch of guys to shoot with. Even though it's been put out there it deserves to be said once again, many thanks to the USAMU, all the soldiers who worked so hard so we didn't have too, the US Army and Fort Benning, all the RO's, stats people, sponsors, caterers, thanks to every one involved to make a match like this go off without major problems. That M249 SAW was wicked fun!! The M203 totally cool, the stages were great. I had fun fun fun!!! Only one suggestion for next year. Predator Drone and HellFires... Hope to see you all again next year (FB3G 2011 please), or maybe sooner. Daniel
  3. Does anyone know if non-competitor spectators are allowed to attend? I have a cousin that would like to come one day to see what the match is all about.
  4. Sorry to ask again... can anyone clarify this for me?? Am I better off with a drop leg holster (if I can use one), to free up room on the belt, or just stick with my Bladetech DOH kydex belt rig? Drop leg holsters are legal. I strongly suggest that you do NOT wear a floppy nylon holster with limited or no retention. If the handgun falls out, you go home. Stick with Blade Tech, Safariland (military or LEO), Blackhawk or similar. I've used Blade Tech Dropped and offset (starting in the 90's) and the Blackhawk Level 2 Serpa (for the past 4 years) with absolutely no problems at all. Cool. I was thinking of getting the level 2 Serpa drop leg rig, or the Safariland. I think I like the serpa better, not sure I like the way the safariland operates. I'll have to have a nice close look at both. Thanks.

  6. I was just looking at the rules regarding holsters. It says the belt must be worn at waist level, but can I use a drop leg holster, or must the holster also be at waist level?
  7. My first time for this match and I'm really looking forward to it. Wondering if I might find some help though. I'm coming from Canada and I need to get some Beretta mags for my 92FS 9mm. Everything I own is restricted to 10 rounds, and I was hoping to find some inexpensive full capacity (15 round) mags in the US for use at the match? Thanks,
  8. Hello, It's my first time posting for my first big match. I was lucky enough to get into the Fort Benning FB3G 2010 match coming up, and I'm coming down from Canada. Can anyone point me to good convenient/local gun shop in Atlanta, or enroute to, where I can pick up some 9mm Beretta 92FS mags? Our mags up here are restricted to 10 rounds (competitive disadvantage), so I was hoping to pick up a few for use during the match... hopefully I can sell them after, because I can't bring them home unless I pin them before crossing the border. Thanks
