    Safety check at A3

I have 2 Shadows and a Shadow 2. Both of my Shadows allow the safety to be placed into safe and the hammer will move to half cock when the DA trigger is pulled. It will not release the hammer. I even had an issue with the safety not working properly, the hammer would fall even with the safety on and so I installed a new safety and a new sear. The safety can still be pushed onto safe when the hammer is down. Always has and still does. I have to note that both of my Shadows have the short reset on them. One has the adjustable sear with the set screw in it too. I agree with cheby, the Shadow and Shadow 2 are different.
  2. Just my 2 cents - I have 147 Berry's at 1.140" OAL and they load into both my Shadow and Shadow 2. The ogive on the Berry's is pretty good as I ran them in my XDM, Glock and SA 1911. Great all purpose bullets. The coated bullets tend not to be as consistent on diameter or ogive. I have some Blue Bullets which some don't fit well either. The Berry's are very consistent and even ran in my Shadow at 1.150" However, my 125 Hornady HAPs would not go into either barrel. I had the Shadow Barrel Reamed and it works just fine. The Shadow 2 barrel is a no go as the reaming did not work since it is hardened. So, I have been shortening my HAPs from 1.100" to 1.075" and they run just fine. But now having to go back and run 10,000 loaded bullets through my Dillon is not high on my list. I did run 1000 through to try and shoot and they run fine. I may send my barrel in to Patriot if I get lazy or don't want to change my loads. You might want to try different bullets - Berry's or send it in. I do love my Shadow 2 though, the stippling is fantastic. Good luck.
  3. Jackmi, I started reloading a year and a half ago. My fellow shooters recommended the Dillon. I bought a used one off EBay for $200. It is self indexing - rotates when the lever is pulled. I was worried about getting distracted while loading and forgetting to turn the shell plate and having a double load. It has happened to others. My press then had problems with the primers and I sent it back to Dillon. It came back new and upgraded from the 30year old parts it had on it. Dillon service is great. I have loaded about 15000 rounds on it so far. and, luckily no problems and no double loads or sqibs. I shoot 9mm but can load 45 if needed. Good luck.
  4. Like the other posters, I too have small hands. I own 3 Glocks from the PD (17-21-22). I had the .45 Robarred to shrink the grip and it was my main duty weapon. Last year I bought a XDM 9mm and began shooting USPSA. I have stuck with my Glock 17 but am now shooting the XDM and I tried the small backstrap and was able to drop the mag w/o canting my hand for quicker mag changes. However, I did not like the way the gun felt and shot and I ended up installing the medium backstrap. If you like Glocks, try a Gen 4 with adjustable backstrap. There is now a 5-1/4" XDM coming out too. Good luck.
  5. Being new to reloading I checked the site for different loads. I like 147 grain (purchased a couple thousand of Berry's copper plated) and wanted to use Solo 1000 as it got good reviews on line and by a friend. But, I could not find it at local stores. I ended up with Titegroup and the loads are pretty soft, not as soft as my friends Solo 1000 loads. I ended up with: 147grn Berry's Copper Plated RN 3.4grns Titegroup 1.150" OAL Federal SPP Shot at 1600hrs - temperature in the low 60's Glock 17 w/after market Lone Wolf barrel & lightened recoil, striker & trigger springs Consistent PF of 130. I don't want to go much lower since Titegroup is temperature sensitive and it has been/gotten cold in Iowa lately. Must be Global Warming. I plan on trying the Solo 100 soon. I can get it ordered in through Scheel's. Trial and error and a chrono. My first loads were under 120 PF (maybe I'll use them for steel) Good Luck.
