  1. Back in the day, 90s, it was never a problem. Everyone wanted their brass back so 1 or 2 shooters always picked up brass and sorted by each shooters mark. I always got back about 90% to 100% sometimes. Times have changed! Now if you don't pick up your own brass you lose it.

The trick now is to convince the significant other to go to the match and pick up brass. Of course she does get a nice night out after the match.

  2. Kind of strange I was just thinking about this last weekend after shooting the ORSAAP match. I've been shooting USPSA for about 18 years off and on. I don't think too much about the match being too difficult but it must be FUN. I shot in a squad of mostly older guys, myself included. We had some good stages that were a challenge. The only issue was way too much steel. I think we had steel on every stage. This is purely personal opinion and not being critical.

I bring this up only because after shooting with new shooters and less experienced shooters I saw a lot of faces that we're not having much fun blazing away at the steel. I know, I know you have to shoot everything to get better but it has to be fun. The only way to increase attendance with new shooters is for them to be challenged but not beaten down.

Again this is personal preference but a good stage breakdown for a local match should be a balance of a variety. For example:

    1 classifier

3 run and gun paper stages, these are fun for every level of shooter

2 stages with a mix of paper, poppers, and steel.

In my experience if a shooter has 3 stages that are fun whether they shoot good or bad they will be back for more. If a club is to grow it is imperative that new shooters return and become regulars.

  3. My order of N320 was to be delivered today. I knew I had to sign for it since it shipped FedEx Haz.Mat. What I did not know was I could not have it held at FedEx for pickup. It has to be delivered to the ship to address. Unless the delivery is after 5PM it looks like it will be returned to Powder Valley. What a bunch of shiznit.

  4. I shot a Matt Mclearn Caspian for many years. The gun performed and shot great with no problems. The dot was always visible while shooting with very little movement. My only complaint was it was heavy.

I wanted to try an open shorty. The gun fits my hand, shoots great, and no problems. My draws are very smooth and I can tell a big difference due to the lighter weight. After about 1500 rounds I still have not gotten to the point where I can control the gun so the dot remains visible during recoil. Maybe i have more work on fine tuning.

  5. I tried a Ghost holster and was never comfortable with it. After the second dropped pistol I had to change. Safariland was my choice for 12 years so I decided to try the 014. The 014 is a great holster, has plenty of adjustment for an open gun, and is absolutely secure. No more dropped open pistol.

  6. I tried the Ghost for my STI Open Gun and never got comfortable with it. My pistol came out of the holster twice. I tried adjusting it but still was not secure. Tried to contact support but never got a call back.

I used Safariland for 15 years before trying the Ghost, and now have gone back. Safariland 014 for my STI Open and Glock 35 Limited.
