  1. Everything I pick up goes through my guns. Tons of "Glock" brass.

    I own 2 2011's and 1 1911, all in 40. 1 SV Infinity Barrel, and 2 STI's.

Lee sizing die (standard), Redding Comp seater, Dillon Taper crimp. Done.

Very rarely do I have an issue with my loaded rounds not passing my gauge or barrel.

  2. Tuned mags is a must

Not sure I agree with this for a 40 anymore.

All of the newly manufactured 40 STI tubes I have received (at least 8 in the past 2 years) have all ran out of the bag by simply dropping in Grams followers/springs with a base pad of my choice. They all fit hold 20 and fit the gauge as well. They run no different than my 4 "tuned" Brazos mags, which also only hold 20 comfortably/reloadable. Feedlips are all within spec as well.

Have someone tune them for 21+ maybe, but for 20? I don't believe the hype anymore.

I find it hard to believe I got lucky with 8 different tubes bought on different occasions.

  3. I got rid of my FCD's when I started using a Lee sizer in station 1. If the cartridge is making it all the way to a final station and still isn't sized right, that says there is a problem that needs to be addressed at the sizing station.

The standard Lee sizer works great for me. I have no need for the U Dies. This die produces ammo that runs and gauges in both my STI and SV Infinity barrels. I was able to put the normal Dillon Taper Crimp back into the rotation once I got the Lee sizers.

  4. I stand by everything I said originally in post 9. No back pedaling. I am not sure how else to say it. If someone feels it does help them, cool. I am saying if you practice, you will not need to focus on racing anyone else there. You will surpass that level quickly, very quickly, with consistent and well planned practice/training.

    doesn't bother me.

    LOL. Cool.

And your response on the matter IS an interpretation. Your interpretation.

  6. If you have to race to C class, you are simply not practicing at all.

Or perhaps you are a newer shooter and you only get to shoot 1 or 2 classifiers a month. I guess I just don't feel much need to look down on people that are engaged in the sport and interested in improving. It's more fun to look down on snarky judgemental people.

You can look at either way you want. Whatever floats your boat. Obviously there are the outliers in every data set. But I am saying, if you DO shoot regularly, and take the sport somewhat seriously to the point you work on skills, you will not be a C shooter for long, unless you are totally practicing wrong, or not at all.

How is that looking down on anyone? If you do not shoot for anything other than just to get out of the house, that is great! So be it. But if you are using the classification system as a means of judging performance, you do care about your game some what. Why sugar coat it? If someone is offended by a non sugar coated message that is actual TRUTH, that is their problem. This is a sport predominately made of grown men. This isn't little league baseball.

I prefer to be told, "That draw sucks, but here is how to fix it,' vs. someone lying to me telling me, "That draw is pretty good, but here is how to fix/improve it." If it sucks, it sucks. Use the fact that it sucks as positive message. It is telling you where you need to improve.

Points of failure are opportunities for improvement. How's that for snarky? Wahhhhhh. lol.

  7. I run Tripp System mags with the hybrid follower (10 round 10mm tubes cut down to fit the box, shaved pads, hold 9) and use them with a Dawson Ice No Gap.

I trimmed down the front of the base pad until they fit. There is still some of the pad that prevents over insertion.

I personally like this set up more than the regular cobra mags with Dawson Pads. I feel like more of the pad is exposed even towards the front of the mag. I am not sure if you would experience the same since the 9mm mags are shorter than the system mags from the get go.
