  1. To be fair they both may require fitting. The older sti ones had cracking issues if people just slapped them on without proper fitting. A friends properly fired sti aluminum grip has lasted years and thousands of rounds.

My black anodized STI grip slipped on, and had no interference issues. It still cracked prematurely. I ran mine on a limited gun. Not sure how an open gun would hold up. Max Michel told me his eventually crack as well but he just replaces them or used them until they become an issue.

  2. Putting 9mm in an Open gun is like putting 87 octane in a Ferrari, sure you can do it but why would you? :D

I may have to borrow that one :roflol:

Don't. The fuel analogies don't make sense. Putting 87 octane in a a Ferrari engine would make it ping and detonate, aka not run correctly. I see plenty of 9 major guns that run correctly.

  3. Although my gun is a limited build, the concept is the same. I specifically told Brandon at SV I wanted a 5.4" barrel with a 5" lock up, since I run a 5" slide. This ensured the barrel didn't start tapering down too early. No problems.

  4. The problem with the holster height requirement is that it generalizes every body type/stature in a way. Some folks can run their gun in the current legal position and the butt of the grip is at their forearms with hands relaxed at sides. I'm a shorty at 5'3". My bicep touches the back of my magwell in the legal position. A dropped holster that puts the gun at the lowest legal height allowed on other divisions puts the gun at my forearms. I love shooting single stack, but drawing the gun is horrible. It's nearly impossible for me to draw the gun without contorting my body in order for the muzzle the clear the kydex.

I've seen numerous slender women shooting single stack who don't need the dropped allowance that is given due to hips, etc, but because they are women, it is allowed.

I fail to see how in my case, a holster dropped a few inches would give me some crazy "race" advantage. If your advice is simply to "Deal with it, 'cause that's how your body is," then that logic should be applied across both gender groups.

You wouldn't catch me wearing my gun that high at work, either. That's for sure.

But I still love me some SS...

  5. DAA belt, Racer mag pouches, and Bladetech DOH holster. Love them all.

I have the Racemaster pouches on my Limited rig, but I actually prefer the less expensive Racers. They're lighter and I don't miss the swivel mount at all.

"cause ya got em from from me, and I'm awesome! ha ha haaaaa!

I agree with Les! I would also look into the BOSS mount from Ben's shop. It's the shit!

Why am I in the CZ forum?

  6. That scares me. Mags should just work. For years and years I keep hearing about tuned mags and how mandatory they are. They are NOT. What's mandatory is a gunsmith that can build a gun that runs.

I've had multiple customs built, all by Virgil Tripp, and they'll all run with absolutely any mag you can stick in them. I've been building 21 round limited mags out of SV tubes, SNL Pads and bolen guts for years. They always run. No exceptions.

    This.

  7. I have been able to get WST locally. So I have been loading it with 147 gr moly bullets. I got 2 lbs of 231 to try after the WST runs out.

Don't even bother. WST is the better powder. Cleaner.

Edit: If you have it, by all means use it. Just know that typically WST will be preferred over 231, at least in my case, by far.

  8. There is nothing wrong with scoring aggregates, but there is a time and a place for it.

If I run one of the drills in skills and drills (Ben's books) I might run the drill about 3 times before I score it once I have a few reps in.

There are other times where the nature of a drill requires me to look at every single string, such as if I keep making the some mistake on a specific hard cover or no shoot target. I might wanna see what is going on every rep.

I know it might not be what you wanna hear, but, "It depends."
