  1. I am the other way around....

the longer the match, the better I get. lol

Every match I have shot so far, I bring a cooler and a chair. Cooler has at least 4 bottles of Vitamin Water, 3 yogurts, fruit... and I try to get lunch to go, made day before, either pasta and shrimp or fish.

I eat breakfast on the way to the match.

I am shocked at the number of people who dont eat prior to match, and dont take a break to snack during the match.

  2. FBI still reports NICS checks are up.

Shooting is not a cheap hobby, and those that are shooting competitively... are typically not going to go broke over $40 in ammo.

In fact, I would go as far as saying match attendance should go up...

I can either go finish or rent a boat etc on a Sunday and it would cost me how much? or

$20 for a match, that is 5 hours of entertainment.

Just my opinion as a financial advisor.

  3. Picked up a case of MG 124gr JHP. Have W231 that I typically used, however also have a lb of WSF that I hear is softer, cleaner shooting.

Anyone have any loads or first hand experience with it?

Also, looking for some 147gr loads as well.

Hoping to load a few and shoot them tomorrow.

    Hodgdon manual states

124 GR. FMJ Winchester WSF 1.169"

    Starting Load 4.7 1015 fps 27,700 PSI

    Max load

    5.3 1115 32,700 PSI

  4. The ammo is a tad hot. Glad you pulled a few to confirm... but surprised... 3.1 grains. heh.

I use 4.8 grains in my 115 load with W231... and the powder did seem different shooting than WWB.

WWB left flakes of crap in the gun. W231 did not.

  5. glad to hear the problems go away...

I have 6 wilson 10 rnd 9mm mags and a few of them are tougher to seat in the gun with a round in the chamber and ten in a mag...

Same thing on the round not facing up... Thew two mags that came from the factory are fine now... the 4 news that I purchased are a bit pain in the butt.

  6. lol. I like Federal brass, much more over others... Remington brass in 223 is garbage... sooooo thin and flimsy... the only brass that gets stuck in my dies.

Much like I cant stand winchester 9mm brass.

  7. Here is the new shooter information package we provide at the South East Practical Shooters Association (SEPSA) matches in Fernandina Beach, Florida (Just north of Jacksonville.) It should answer many of your questions.

Good luck at your first match. You're going to have the time of your life!

great summary, do you mind if I use it on a local forum?

  8. only thing is... if you are shooting production USPSA, it is all minor, no matter if you are shooting 9mm or 45.

Why not stick with your 45 single stack if you like it?

What are you going to be shooting more? USPSA or 3 gun?
