so I'm getting light strikes with my older 9mm match. It ran mostly fine for years (once light strike every couple hundred or so), but I recently switched presses to a dillon 650, and the primers are being seated deeper than there were before with the loadmaster. (hey you use what you can afford) So now I am getting light strikes maybe 1 every 20 rounds. They always go off with a second hit.
So, since I can't really adjust the seating depth on the press, I guess I work on the gun. Here are the options I have identified:
1) buy the henning pin. might fix the problem, but I don't know how much longer it is so who knows.
2) trim the firing pin spring some. it kind of looks like spring tension and compressed length is the only thing keeping the pin from moving further forward? Spring is really long.
3) remove the firing pin block? maybe that is preventing forward movement or providing just enough friction to slow the pin down?
Anybody have any thoughts? this is not a competition gun. Just my range piece.
