  1. Hard-chrome adds thickness on the surfaces it bonds to so you may have to refit the barrel to it as well as the slide. The firing pin stop is fine but the bushing I would leave alone if it is stainless already.
  2. Also depending on the caliber you are using you may have to buy Spacer kits and different followers. But long or short ammo will head-space the nearly the same in you gun. pull the barrel and drop a round in the chamber there should be a small difference in height from the bottom of the case to the barrel hood. If you run your finger over the bottom of the case and over the hood you should feel a bump as you hit the hood. if your gun has a smooth surface here it may need to be chambered farther to accept long ammo.
  3. Call Benny Hill at Triangle Shooting Sports. We have cut frames before to make short dust covers out of the longer ones.
  4. yeah im sorry Ive been away had a crazy week at school. the gun shoots beautifully benny hill did an exceptional job. had some feed issues but he polished the feed ramp and now it runs like a champ. A soon as I get the magazines back I will post some pics. And a full story
  5. The para came in today at noon. Benny looked over it and it was a bone stock gun so he is going to work on it should be done tomorrow around one. I cant wait to get this gun and shoot a match with it. hopefully ill be able to shoot one soon. but I will definitely be at the space city challenge. if any of you guy are gonna be there let me know. ill post some pictures of the gun as soon as I can and maybe make a video or too when I get some time at the range at a match. Thanks to all who have helped in my en devour. I hope to see yall at a match and im looking forward to shooting with yall
  6. Ill have to check it out i was looking at the cr speed holster but it was 170 dollars. I wonder if anyone has used it and has an opinion on it. Ill make sure to post some pictures of the para when i get it. im gonna send him the check monday so i hope to have it by early next week.
  7. Hey whats the deal with people deactivating grip safeties or pinning them down?
  8. SOLD PENDING FUNDS... somebody got a nice deal on that gun. The deals are out there, just keep looking. Actually it is sold pending funds because I emailed the guy. Thank you so much fortyfiveshooter for sending me the link or I wouldnt have been able to jump on that auction so quick. ill post some pictures when i get it if i can find my cameras battery charger. its one of the old canadian models so i cant wait to start shooting it. all i need now is a belt mag holders and a holster an ammo an im ready to go. Thanks to all who have replied and helped a new shooter start his career in limited. I hope to see yall at some matches this comming year.
  9. Probably a stupid question but do any of yall happen to have an extra para 40 limited that you may be willing to sell. Im trying to explore all of my options because I have little faith in the gun show. alot of the people running the tables have no knowledge and overprice their stiff because it says limited and is shiny. Just thought I would ask if anyone knew of one that can be made availible with mags preferably for a decent fair price. thanks guys again for all the help. the support you have offered this new shooter will not soon be forgotten.
  10. so tomorrow im going to look around at the local gun shops for a para 16 40 limited. So I wanted to know what I should look for in a gun and some tips on what to look out for so I can keep form buying a basket case that will cost me more than its worth. Most likely I will purchase one at the saxet gun show in a couple of months. So any advice on what to look for and beware of would help because the only 1911's ive used are my fathers and its been a while since ive handled one. Also what should I look for as a good price yall think. at the gun show ill be able to haggle over the price with some people so I would like yo know what is reasonable and fair. Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it.
  11. I'm assuming the paras are all single action right? I'm hopping to find one at an upcoming gun show. What should I look for because I won't be able tot est fire it before I buy it if I can. Any advice is greatly appreciated because I don't really want to pick up a basket case that I can't fix without deep pockets.
  12. Did the p14 45 have a limited model. If I chose that option what would I need to do to the gun to get it in a competition ready condition?
  13. The only real problem I'm having is finding a gun. I'm hopeing there will be one at the gun show in march but we will see. Also having the money at the right time lol. Parts are easy to get the gun is the hard part.
  14. I had the sane problem with my glock 17 gen4. I had the trigger lightened to 3.25 pounds and worked on just using the tip of my finger pulling straight back until the gun breaks. try dry firing looking straight down the sights and you'll see the difference just pull straight back nice and easy and the sights shouldn't move do it slowly and you'll be able to feel what is happening. I went from not being able to hit a fall down steel at 25 yards to being able to put four rounds on it before it hit the ground. (ran my time up but everybody laughed. also check my advice against some of my more learned colleagues because im new to trying to help and may have expressed myself vaguely and I dont want to set a good person down the wrong path. Happy shooting and may all the bullets hit A's
  15. Ok so here it is; Para 16-40 limited 18 pound mainspring 15 pound recoil spring DP ice magwell DP basepads on para Mags ed brown extractor (maybe AFTEC extractor) Koenig hammer? EGW sear? I think all of this should cover it. I don't really intend to have a smith work on it at first Ill just have Mr. Hardy look at it at a local match, just to see if its in good comp condition. Please feel free to edit my list or tell me if i shouldnt get something or have left something out on this list but i think that covers it as far as the guns concerned. All the rest I have except mag holsters and a holster. I was gonna go with a ghost holster or CR speed but im not sure what mag holders are the best. I really appreciate the help my friends and im sorry if i ask a question multiple times I just forget what I have posted. any how thanks for all the help and pls feel free to post new ideas or comments or even Pm me. If any of yall are gonna be at the coastal bend shooters match at starry range on march thirteenth i belive let me know I would love to meet yall
  16. What does the EGW sear do for performance as well as the Koenig hammer. Is there a point to changing the mainspring and recoil spring as some people have suggested.
  17. see I thought that when I started looking but a friend of mine said thats not the way to go, and he is a verry accomplished shooter so i took the advice. idk why a glock would be a bad descision. Seems to work just fine for Bob Vogel and Dave Sevigny Jessie Abbate shot them in limited pretty good too I don't shoot them very very because I am use to a 1911 grip angle, however I have never really tried to change and have only ever once shot one at a match. So people think that there is a weight advantage to the STI/SV guns and recoil control, I don't know not that experienced with it. you have a point there. I really like the 1911 style same as you but I had to start production with a glock cuz that what my father got for me to shoot. I like the Glock styling but I much prefer the good old 1911. in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful weapons ever produced. that said when I graduate and make real money I may get a glockworx glock for limited. but for my first limited gun i would like a 1911 style. What modifications would be best in mind for starting out. as i said i was thinking of a trigger jog, DP ice magwell DP base pads and maybe FO sights. I dont think the slide needs to needs lightened but the Slots in some guns look really nice. it depends on how heavy it is when i get it if ill want it lightened It is my understanding that the P16-40 Limited comes with FO sights so you really would only need the magwell, base pads, and trigger job (and even that may no be needed, after all you may get it and decide that you like the trigger as is) this is true. I just remeber the factory glock triggers suck so I had benny put a 3.5 pound connector in and massage ( i think thats what they call it) it down to 3.25pds. i just hope the para doesm't require that much work. Im just looking for what i need to start, I can save for the goodies later what about having the gun lightend or spring changes? thanks for the help

  20. so not to put too fine a point on it but what should I get with the limited model. I was thinking the gun itself, maybe some extra mags if i need them with DP base pads, maybe a trigger job, and a DP mag well. is that too much or what do you think.
  21. well my father has a single stage progressive reloader I think thats what he said. I would just need 40 cal dies. This would save money for awhile but it may hamper the reload process. Ive never reloader before so I do not know about measuring the power myself. the reason I really like this idea is because he said I could have that setup when he buys his 650. he is really gonna need it to feed his new open gun.
  22. Is the power extractor a good or bad thing. In fact I must ask what the power extractor does? I know I'm showing a lack of knowledge but i'm not afraid to ask questions. And I wont turn down any good advice from the good people here on this forum.
  23. Is 500 what I should be looking for as a price? also do I really need the limited edition, thats what I want but I was wondering if the regular edition would work because im right handed and dont really need the ambi safety. there is another difference but I cant remember what it is.
  24. I live in Corpus Christi TX, I was thinking of having Benny hill and Don hardy look over the gun when I find one but I don't know what Benny charges. I'm not in the military Im in college working a minimum wage job so Im looking for the most economical solution unless I have cash left over for parts but I may be able to find a friend or club member that can get me the parts I need. I will probable go with stock para mags and DP base pads. but I do have a grams spring kit I may try just to see how it works. how much will the Koenig hammer and egw sear and disconnecter help as this will be my first semi custom gun and im trying to figure out what i need to start and what parts should logically follow but I'm hoping to get this gun ready for space city or the lost double tap if i can come up with match fees after the gun also im not sure if it will be ready in times but who knows what will happen. Ive seen a lot of different price ranges for para limiteds and standards I was wondering what everybody thought a good price would be. There is a gun show here in march and hopefully ill have the money. Don said 800 with mags but Ive seen them go alot cheaper. what do you guys think.
  25. hey guys I am new to reloading an havent purchased any of the gear yet and was wondering of someone could let me know what to buy to start out. I will soon be reloading for my 40 cal limited gun and im gonna need something to feed the beast thanks gentlemen I really appreciate the help
