  1. I am more confused now than before I asked the question....

I think I may be over thinking it, but I thought the weight and cone barrel excluded the stock from classes/disciplines (not even sure which, ones so its probably not even worth asking)

I am trying to avoid buying something and "it not fitting in the box" or full length dust cover exludes it, or the cone barrel excludes from an category

  2. I wanted to a 10mm, and decided on a stock 3. I just got it last Friday, but have only shot one box thru it since I got it.

I want to try the 9mm, conversion seems to costly compared to the gun cost

I can't decide between the stock II 9mm and the Limited Pro. (assuming I can find either)

I have not shot IDPA or USPSA (only steel and 3 gun) so not sure if the bull barrel or weight or anything between the two limits the use of one of the guns...

Any words of wisdom on deciding appreciated....

  3. Thanks!!

Well I just wanted a great 10mm, and maybe a conversion slide or two....

I am not normally a chrome guy....is there preferred finish?

I was leaning to full length dust cover......,but not stuck on it

Dealer has match in, but not digging the 2 tone

So stock 3 is same as stock 2, except the chrome?

I am open to suggestions, I have learned to get exactly what you want the first time.....but not seeing all the guns in hand makes it tough to know what I like

  4. Roger on the handloads for SD, would not put those in anything I carry on person or car.

But, I feel uncertainty with the future price of ammo; was thinking I might as well have a large box of higher performance ammo set aside....

So, maybe the 124 gold dots? Trying to find bulk isn't easy, so many places out of stock

If anyone comes across 1000rd of a quality hollow point 124gr to 147gr I would appreciate you sharing...

  5. Bouncing back to loading 9mm from .308/ and starting on .300 wm

Need some input on loads for glocks, mainly g34 fitted barsto and trijicon rmr

I like the feel of the 147s, I am not trying to barely meet pf, don't plan on any events anytime soon

I want a good general load for defense, general range and shooting at distance..

I found 100 yd shots fun with the rmr. Even some 200 yd shots.

Problem is, I have not thought at all about loads, that drop less at distance.

Perhaps I am asking for too many criterias to be met, but I would like to hear that 147 jhp, or fmj with a given velocity would fit the bill

I presently use bullseye, but have found a place locally with good selection of powders.

I have gotten a chrono recently, but haven't checked what I used to load of bullseye.

Hope this makes sense. iPad typing, so excuse creative spelling.

  6. Wife picked mine up from FedEx this morning so I'm itching to get home and check it out. I'll try to post some pics soon.

Trying to figure out what ammo to run in it. Robert cautioned me about the Wal-Mart value pack target loads which I run in my 1100. He recommended 1300+ fps ammo so I'll poke around wally world soon to see what my options are. Also going to be digging through threads here as I'm sure this has been covered before.

Well tell us what you got? Pics?

  7. I am researching which way to go on shotguns. (dial in my M1 and cut barrel to 22", buy race ready Benelli or Saiga)

I already have a 28" M1 and plan to cut the barrel.

Just curious is that necessary? I saw some pretty long shotguns this weekend at the local 3 gun match.

Searched but didn't see much out there, it doesn't seem like that big of a difference.

Maybe just get a nice long tube and try it?

    Thanks for the advice

  8. Thanks,

Benny I had my M1 in the case ready to ship to you for a workover...

I will exchange the ammo tonight and give it another try, I have a straight stock on my M1.

Maybe I can borrow his barrel and tube and try that setup

I have heard weight on an M1 is not good also, but didn't quite get that concept. As light pistols like a glock tend to misfire when they are too light and limp wristed. But Benelli misfire when the are too heavy and held too tight? Isn't the inertia in the bolt? It isn't clear to me why the gun needs to have some room to move.

Thanks for the advice, it took a little wind out my sail when I had the misfires. I knew it wasn't his gun and wasn't sure about the ammo. I know I have dove hunted with lighter load and hadn't had problems with my M1.

  9. Looking for some guidance here.

I have a 3 gun match Sunday, I was planning on shooting my friends M1. I went to practice today and could not get it to cycle. He had no troubles.

His gun is a 21" or so M1 tactical with aftermarket pistol grip. I was shooting Remington Game and target loads 2 3/4 7/8oz. 8 shot (1390 FPS). I have a field M1 and know that I need to plant it, but don't tend to have troubles with mine. Even when I tried to plant it hard into my shoulder, I either got failure to eject or failure to feed. I could not get one single shell to cycle. He had 100% success.

I was planning on converting my field into 3 gun setup, but I am wondering if I might be more likely to to have troubles? Are there some folks that just tend to have problems with a M1/M2. Are those considered a light load for the M1?

Thanks, I realize this post is newbie stuff; But wasn't sure what direction to take.

Go grab the used FN SLP I saw today? Try a enhanced Benelli?

I guess I will resort to my Remington 1100 Marine Magnum Pump for Sunday.

  10. you don't need the bolt handle the stock one is just fine, you don't need a sling for 98% of the matches, and you don't need to worry about ghost loading if you are going to use a +6 extension tube,......... hitting the little red button and kicking a round out of the ext tube onto the carrier is not ghost loading. thats what most people think it is but its not. With the +6 tube you really don't have to worry about it anyway, you have enough ammo in the gun already.

cut it, choke it, extend it and shoot it, that's all you NEED. Stop listening to people trying to spend your money on stuff you don't need. There are plenty of small little details that can get done later after you've spent time getting used to your new SG, use your hard earned money for ammo and match fees.

    trapr

    Thanks

I a friend brought his tactical setup benelli over and it felt sooooo nice with all the big buttons and latches....lol

    Glad to hear it

    Thanks
