  1. I had a long carefully worded post and I discovered if you try to highlight text and hit backspace it deletes the entire post....insert expletive __________

Not once, but twice insert second expletive _______

I am intrigued to find a 9mm with less perceived recoil and faster settling of sights....(and get away from striker)

My CZ experience is limited to a EAA 10mm I bought a month ago and the .40 barrel I got for it 2 weeks ago; and I got a Sphinx Alpha Compact Friday

Here is what I like so far about the Sphinx; Gun is comfortable in my hand, has enough frame mass to get a good grip, recoil felt very controllable; (I shot weak hand better than I ever recall)

Weak hand felt so good, I am considering switching to lefty (I am left eye dominant) granted I did not have my VP9 there it compare. I also appreciate the quality of the gun, and prefer to buy quality to begin with vs spending as much on upgrades as you did on the gun (like a glock); I also desire one brand/style that I can compete, carry and "play" with at the farm; IF that gun does not leave me with any disadvantages with production class shooting. I also like the fact that Sphinx has/or promises to have different weights in the same size gun (duotone, alpha, black) (clearly I want to like the Sphinx)

Downsides to Sphinx that I see is the lack of parts or aftermarket support and the small problem that the gun I want is not sold yet...

I will be competing locally (production, 3 gun maybe some IDPA) but as much want a platform for general use if practical

How are you guys finding the Grand Power X-caliber claims of lighter felt recoil relative to its weight? I don't see how the rotating barrel helps mitigate recoil as it claims? without some springs to resist the barrel its just a passive movement to unlock.

I started this journey wanting a Cajunized SP-01 Shadow, then Tactical; Looking hard at the EAA Stock 2 or Limited Pro (I wish I could find a stock 3 slide in 9mm)

All of these are impossible to test fire; so I seek opinions on the above guns

If the Sphinx standard comes out soon, how do you guys think it will stack up to the GP? Specifically- perceived recoil, and trigger; but also any variables I am overlooking (sight radius, mag capacity, controls)

Do you guys think that among the guns I am leaning towards that its at the point of splitting hairs; in that at a intermediate level any of the above are not hindering my abilities...and just pick one?

  2. Thanks, yes I am thinking production; I did not even think of the fact that division was a variable...

I have always gone bullets forward, but was messing with bullet tip out; not sure if I like it yet...

I guess I can scour youtube and look at setups also....

So the horizontal setups is what thru me off, I would not have guessed that to be economy of motion reaching in so many different place and orientations

  3. I bought a DAA belt, 5 DAA racers (I got the plastic ones??),

(and I bought the Invectus Practical 8eight for the belt for 3 gun that is going on the front of the belt on ELS)

My question- what is the thought process behind setting up pistol magazine carriers on the belt?

I am used to a tactical arrangement that they are side by side, close together on the belt....

I inverted one of the belt mounts , and it lowered the pistol magazine a bit; that seems like it makes sense so as to not have to reach up high onto your waist to grab a new mag.

I see that some people have the mags fanned out like peacock feathers arranged around the belt. I have not tried that arrangement, but was curious as to the benefit....

I would assume they think it faster, but I can't see how having that many places to reach at different angles helps....

So do you guys put the mag carrier in a 9:00 and 10:00 position on the belt? or a more rearward or forward position?

    Thanks for any comments

  4. I am right handed pistol, left handed rifle and shotgun (so pistol mags go to left, rifle mags go to right)

I have run a battle belt for classes and range when heavy shooting, but last time I did three gun, I did not have my current setup.(I find being able to lower rifle with left hand and transition to pistol/secondary with my right hand a nice bonus....)

Having some mags go to opposite sides might help spread things out such that I can just add shotgun type caddy to my setup.

What shotgun shell carriers should I look at?

I was envisioning something that went on the front of my belt, or even a shotgun only chest rig that I could add or remove as needed. I think I can just add shotgun vs rearranging all the time.

I keep my rifle mags on back right hip, and it works fine now...

    Any thoughts?

I am leaning to a 2 shell technique

  5. Thanks, that seems to be the consensus; but I saw a post on CZ forum where cajunized Tactical gets within ounces of a shadow on single action

The double action pull was actually less than the shadow (if you start with hammer down, this is an advantage)

That's what got me thinking outside the box....

    nice videos!!

  6. I have read and read and read.....about to make the plunge; just needed someone to push me off the edge

I can't find either a shadow or Tactical in stock thru any wholesaler; So I will have to get one on retail market

LGS has a SP-01 Tactical in stock, (around $650) or I am going to order a cajunized direct.... $980 ..

I am pretty much sold on the tactical (with the CGW upgrades, it seems like a great package)

    But. I am debating

The tactical has a heavier first pull even from half cock- I am not used to that and not sure if it will have an affect....

I also gather is the safety gets flipped off, throwing into the 3 gun bucket; you get a DQ

It seems the shadow has a bigger following; but CGW swears the lack of FPB is not that big of a deal once the upgrades are done on a tactical...

I see a few posts that some have sold shadows for the cheaper Tacticals and are happy

    Thanks

  7. I am new to the CZ platform (just picked up a EAA 10mm, as I wanted to try the round) and am getting back into competition shooting

I am finding the rules of the various sanctioning bodies a bit confusing. Plus, I am not realistically sure which events I will compete in most.

But I ideally wanted to get one platform and practice, practice now.

vs. the "run what you brung" and then upgrade as you go.....

(have only done, 3 gun and steel) but there is IDPA this weekend that I will try to use my VP9 or g17/g34 in, if I make it out

I wanted a gun that is as versatile as possible. (so I am trying to see if I can use it in IDPA)

I am leaning towards a Cajunized SP-01 tactical. (or maybe if I can find a EAA limited pro)

    My LGS has a sphinx compact that is tempting me;

I have searched this forum with the keyword "sphinx" and read all the posts. Not too much on the compact and I guess that's a clue.

Any thoughts on the Sphinx compact would be appreciated.

Cost wise, its about the same to get a SP-01 cajunized and the Sphinx.

My thoughts were, start with the compact if it in any way made sense; then hopefully move to a production or standard when/if they arrive

Size wise, I guess this is a G19 equivalent which seems a bit small

    Any thoughts appreciated

  8. I have one, If I recall its the Robar finish that is no longer made.

It is not something you want to shoot much, its quite small; but a great pocket rocket....

With the new smaller guns being made, the are not as unique in the market as they once were.....

  9. Just getting back into glocks, but is it correct that no other parts (ejector etc) need to be changed for conversion barrels when swapping calibers?
