  1. C-Rums was about 2.5-3 weeks turnaround (that includes shipping to and from).

Anything I can do to radius those points or trim back to get past this match, it is a fundraiser for a friend and fellow shooter to help sshis family cope with costs for cancer treatments, otherwise I would skip it.

Several folks have ground them down or completely off. I think I would smooth them without removing too much material and then send it off to be welded, if that is what you want to do.

  2. It would be ideal to have a set of binoculars at the long range stage, and a set person to call hits. Whether that is the RO or another person. Sometimes we have them, and sometimes we do not.

Sometimes we call hits by committee and that can be problematic. I scored several shooters on that stage, and the RO did the right thing. He called hits as best he could and stood by his calls.

    spotting scope would work better....

yep. But anything would be better than nothing.

  3. Sorry for the drift here, but I would like to go ahead and say what has been said indirectly. Regardless of the conversations that have occurred above, THANK YOU TO THE CARRUTH'S! While their are others to be thanked, Marcy and Sheldon volunteer their time and personal resources to the matches and take nothing in return for their work. Selflessness is what promotes our sport and I believe that these two are a model family for showing the rest of us what we could be doing to promote the shooting sports; especially 3Gun! Cheers to you and yours! Please know that we are behind you and what you do.

    Well Said!

Agree 100%. I try to get there early to help set up and I stay to help tear down, but that is only a small contribution.

The Carruth's, Trey (spelling) and Jeremy make the matches.

    Thank you.

  4. and just for 2 more cents,,, one of the hardest things for me to do in LR stages is to take,, my 3 or 4 shots at each, hit and miss and STOP,, and not take 5 min to shoot untill I'm out of ammo,,

Me too. I am not going to win anything anytime soon, except maybe largest shoe size at the range. But I can not turn my mind off and stop shooting.

I keep shooting at the 500 yrd targets, because this is the only time I really get a chance to shoot out that far, and sooner or later I am going to hit the damn thing. :roflol:

  5. smart approach, what other mods can he do other than welding the lifters?

He is going to weld the lifter, put on the larger bolt release button and the open up the loading area.

I am going to add a +1 extension and nordic charging handle. I trust myself to do those mods, and those mods only. Plus I know it will look a hell of a lot better if he grinds on it rather than me.

  6. CDNN is $845 and has free shipping on all FN products the last I checked. They are great to deal with. Here is their link. (Page 13 of their catalog.)

    Cheers,

    Kyle

CDNN just quoted 917 shipped for the MK1

Scottsdale Gun club was the same

I ordered mine from Jeff Cockrum http://www.c-rums.com/

I live in Texas and wanted to buy from CDNN back when it was $845. Shipping was free, but tax was included.

I knew I wanted C-Rums to do some work anyway, so I called and his pricing was in line with CDNN + the tax I would have paid as a Texas Resident.

Since Jeff's pricing was similar, bought through him and having some work done before it is shipped out. Saves me some shipping back and forth and time without the gun is on the front end, not after I buy it.

Jeff has been a pleasure to deal with, and I can not wait to get it in hand.

  7. Used my TAC 30 yesterday at BOTW for the first time as well.

The 100 yd targets were right on. Hit the 240s without too many problems, and was very close several times on the 480s. I could here the guys behind me. "Close, Close. How did he not hit that."

    Need to practice more.

  8. Glock will not supply the 3.5 connector unless you have a letter from your dept. head /chief law enforcement officer specifically requesting it. They just won't do it otherwise.

Thought it might be an LEO thing. I am a civilian. Guess I will just have to pick up a 3.5 lb connector.

  9. I want to know more about the shotgun at the top of the picture. Looks a bit like their take on an SLP 18"

    img_5199-tm-tfb.jpg

That top shotgun looks like an over under with a rail at the front for home defense! That's what it looks like to me anyway......

Good guess. Thinking I would rather have one of these, but that's just me.

  10. I believe this is the same shotgun, but you should probably read this… http://gunnuts.net/2011/01/20/kel-tec-ksg-shotgun-video/

Just returned from SHOT where I played with the new Keltec shotgun too, and I noticed the exact same thing! The trigger would not reset!! You had to be completely off the trigger when cycling the action. Wow, I really do hope they iron that out before production.

Another concern with the weapon is that we all know how important loading is to running a shotgun. The mag tubes are buried way up high in a chasm in the rear receiver. You'd have to be a veteran proctologist to load this thing quickly. Shoot 14, then discard and transition... ;)

Must say it was a big hit, lots of traffic in the Keltec booth.

Also hoping they will fix the trigger issue.

Thinking from a home defense situation, this could be ideal. 99% of the time you are not going to have extra ammo on you in a home defense situation other than what is on the gun. This gives you 14 shots at the bad guy, most of the time you should not need more than that. Find a way to throw a side saddle on it and you have even more ammo. Plus it is short and easy to manuver. imho.
