  1. I was just informed that our latest sponsor, Gunzilla, will be giving us 100 bottles of thier product. That brings them up to Stage Sponsor level. We now have a sponsor for every stage!!!! I am very happy to hear that we will be breaking attendence records with our match. We took on this challenge because we were not happy about not having a state match. We ran the Buckeye Challenge as a test to see if holding a major match at our club could be done. Granted, our club doesn't have the best layout and I would love to have more bays but we are working it to the best of our ability. I'm sure we will have a great match. Maybe, in the not too distant future, we can hold a state match that is equal to Indiana.

You guys are doing one fine job. Indiana matches wouldn't be successful if there wasn't support from our neighboring states. It is always a good to see the Ohio, KY, MI, and IL shooters come over for our matches. I am doing my best this year to support the other state matches as well. I still have a hard time crossing over into Illinois  .

    See you guys next weekend.

  2. Thanks Jake, but Dan deserves all the credit. He's done an outstanding job of ramping up from a Level I match in 2010, to a Level II match this year, and drawing in so many good supporters, staff, sponsors, crew, shooters, etc.

Let's hear it for Dan the Man. B)

Only 25 Days until the 2011 Ohio State USPSA Championship!!

I personally can't wait. I'll be there Friday to find the place. Hopefully the roads will show up on my GPS :D. I'll be in Squad 15 with a bunch of other Indiana Smart Allecs. I see people were forced to shoot with Coach, Bill and Jake on Sunday. I hope there aren't any sensitive types in that group :goof:

And then there are those of us that volunteered to shoot with them B) . I Figure their shenanigans will keep me relaxed throughout the day, hahaha

They will keep you laughing for sure. Coach/Jake/Bill banter is usually comic gold

Smart Alecs? Banter? Us? WTH? These are words that hurt.

You know why the truth hurts?...

  3. Oh, and Jake...Good luck on making major power factor in SS. Think 165.1 this time.

Shooting L10, but that little mishap has been fixed

the scale was not calibrated, once I calibrated it I was throwing 4.1 grains of clays, not 4.3 just enough to screw me at BITB.

I have my chrono ammo loading for SS Nats

its always those little things...scales not calibrated. For me, compressed cases, blowing up guns. Peeing my pants :o

  6. Kids called me at work to let me know that there were a bunch of envelopes in the mail today!!

So you need to get your entry in and get the word out

I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down

I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.

    hedley_lamarr-voodoo.jpg

Apparently we are not drawing any lines this year. :surprise: Since methodists are able to get in. :roflol:

    and the Irish.....

I was raised Methodist and part irish...Am I fired from working this match? :angry2:

Next year I may have to work a lot harder at my day job. Teaching a new dual credit class. But I will have my masters done at Christmas. So that will help.

There is nothing like completing that final project B)

  7. I'm still searching for that "zen" moment. I know my accuracy is decent, but I'm still fighting the buzzer. I can walk the stage with my eyes closed, however something always goes awry. I see the steel falling with one shot, but inevitably I'll throw 2-3 shots at it. When I "stop" and realized that I am snapping my eyes before i break the shot, then boom, steal falls down. I still tend to get in my own way during a stage. I'm working on positive reinforcement and "relaxing" before the buzzer goes off. Iam no longer focusing on how slow the stage is, but on what I did well. If the stage happens to be a disaster, oh well there is another stage, or there is next weekend. I'm taking baby steps and slowly becoming a more positive shooter. I have a few training sessions scheduled in the next 3 weeks that will hopefully get me to that "zen" moment.

When I try to push it, it is a disaster. I will have several mikes. If I stay within myself, the accuracy is pretty good, but the times are much to be desired. The happy medium will come. I just need to get in some quality practice each week and break the mental glue that oozes out when the buzzer goes off.

If you haven't seen it, The Set Topic might help.

    be

Thanks, I will check it out!

  9. Not only is the Match a STI contigency they have also signed up as a Gold Level Sponsor

Also again this year Shooters Connection has signed up to be a Match Sponsor - target sponsor

Thank you Chuck and Mike for taking care of us!!

Jake, I am willing to work again. I'm not sure I've sent in the app. I can't keep track of what I did today, let alone months ago. Kind of like my front sight.

    See you in July.

  10. I had a good time but I'm still a bit out of breath.

Thanks to all the folks that took the time and effort to put this match on.

I hope to make the trip next year ..... 25 lbs lighter

You should try the match with 4 re shoots B). I technically should have had 5, but I was tired and more than peaved by my performance and didn't challenge the ruling by the RO. Needless to say, I was 0-4 and didn't want to go 0-5 in the reshoot department for the day. I was also concerned to find two additional Mike's on the official scores but not on my copy of the scoresheet. Oh well, it wouldn't have mattered at all. I shot awful, no excuses .

I had fun shooting with our squad of 6. It couldn't have ran better with that few of people in a squad. I definitely need to work on foot speed and agility for upcoming matches.

Thanks all for the match setup. The location couldn't have been better.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Mr. Lincoln would have been safe around me yesterday :roflol:

    No bravo's?

Only one...Delta's, well that is another story. :angry2:

  13. I truly had a blast with this match! Big thanks to Jake, Aron, and the cast and crew that made it happen. It's always a pleasure to reconnect with the rest of the forum members in person.

What Camera were you using? I meant to ask you on stage 4, but the whole ROing thing distracted me.

Thanks for the compliments guys. See some of you at BITB this weekend and others at the Ohio Section Match.

  14. Just a quick addition to the registration stats ...... We always get more than our fair share of shooters from OH, IN, and KY. But we're starting to rack up the "long drive" shooters also. Here's a little taste of what I'm talking about below -

    1 shooter from South Carolina

    1 shooter from Alabama

    3 shooters from Georgia

    6 shooters from Illinois

    3 shooters from Pennsylvania

    2 shooters from Tennessee

    3 shooters from West Virginia

and like I said here's our requisite numbers from the closer states

    12 shooters from Indiana

    22 shooters from Kentucky

    29 shooters from Michigan

86 shooters from The Ohio State

I sure do see a lot of Michiganders signed up for a butt whooping! :sight:

Only 12 from Indiana? There are several of us in Squad 15. I did notice Coach and BillD squad is mostly empty on Sunday. I see there reputation precedes them. :P

  15. What a great idea! I just posted this. :surprise:

You know what they say about great minds.......

I have all the cool bold letters and link to the website, and different fonts, yours sucks

I don't know which these two remind me of more, Felix and Oscar or Burt and Ernie! Throw Chaney in there and it's like a Road show with Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorothy Lamour.(Don't make fun of the hair DUDE)

    Scott

I am Bob in this one, but probably Ernie ( although I have always been more of a fan of Grover)

You know there is a rumor out there about bert and ernie and their rainbow bedroom. I'm going with Bert and Ernie. :D

I see Coach needs a monitor over here as well.

  16. Also since you are at range all day fatigue can be an issue.

    MDA

I forgot about this! It is also important to get well hydrated in the week leading up to the match. Being in May, you never know how hot it might get.

Definetely bring some water/gatorade for yourself. I like to bring a small cooler with plenty of water and some energy bars or small snacks to keep energy up throughout the day. I even throw a small towel in the cooler and let it sit in the ice all day so when I get a little overheated I can throw it on my head/neck and cool down instantly. Learned this stuff the hard way at the Indiana Section match this year, a long hot hot day!!!! Sunscreen & bug spray too.

Indiana match was brutal. I helped all 3 days. We couldn't consume enough water. Our dinner conversations usually revolved around how much water we drank during the day and whether or not we used the bathroom...LOL. Definitely pre-hydrate

  17. I was recently contacted for an interview in Central Ohio. If I decide to move that way, how many USPSA matches are there in the central Ohio area?

Currently I live in Indiana and travel from 1.5 to 2.5 hours to shoot club matches.

Do I sound like an USPSA addict or what?
