  1. Short open gun.......

Has anyone noticed the picture of the short open gun located on the SVI home page?? :D

It's the one pictured next to a computer screen ( link to their photo gallery).

I do belive that it's a 5" with a ported Shueman barrel and a slide mounted optic...seems to fit the bill

  2. Just got the courage to get myself an SVI gun!! :surprise:

I figure its going to be my last one.......so do it.

As for STI mags going into an SVI grip......its yes and no.

Here's the answer provided for me by Brandon at SVI.

"I have seen STI magazines used in our billet grip pistols.

The only issue I have seen is the diameter of the tube through the

magazine release window is bellow spec."

"Therefore I would check the measurement of the diameter of the magazine

tubes through the magazine release window.

A measurement using callipers just bellow the window will offer an accurate

    enough measurement."

" They can be easily adjusted to an increesed diameter by a slight squeeze front to rear

to increese the the magazine release window.

The diameter of the magazines should be .925-.935 inches" :D

    I hope that this helps

  3. I'm just about to drop the hammer on getting an SVI gun.

Up here in Canada ( yes, we can own guns )a $3500 gun turns into a $5000 gun

once you add taxes and importation fees!

So I've choosen a gun with "minimal" bells and whistles gun ( using SVI's Gun Builder)and

it'll run me around $4600 by the time I get my mitts on it.....but it'll be my last gun.

  4. All (3) of my current STI guns have SVI Tri Glide Packages along with SVI Extended Firing pins and their great Hammers.

The reason I went this route is that I wanted everything to work together.

Plus I can source all my goodies in one spot. :D

  5. I suspect that we all have a ritual that we all go through on the way to the range.

Mine involves getting a Tim Hortons large double double and a Breakfast sandwich for the trip.

(my fellow Canadians can explian it to you :surprise: )

But I do agree with the consensus on this string...a little goes along way!

    Ciao.

  6. As I said I use a Dillon SD-B the dies used for this reloader "fix" about %75-80 of "Glocked brass"..some are going to be beyond redemtion.

Now check out the reloader equipment of your choice and they should have a resize or swaging set up or die...it's worth the money...my 2 cents worth.

The signature of Glock fired brass is the "belling" at the base...so sort accordingly.

    Best of luck to you.

    Ciao.

  7. Glocked brass...pisses me off!!!

I reload ( mostly range brass in both .40 and .45 for my STI's) and a quality control aspect I use is this.

    1. Check the brass before reloading ( I use a Dillon SDB)

    2. Once I've reloaded my ammo I check it using a CP Chamber Gauge AND in the chamber of the gun I'm using..yes I take the barrel out of the gun to do this.

There have been cases that will pass through the CP Guage....but the brass has streched giving a round that is longer than the hood of the barrels chamber.

    3. I clean the round and make sure that the rims are clean as to get a good extraction.

    I hope that this helps.

    Ciao.

  8. As a fellow Aussie.....welcome to the forum!

Just to show how the world has has gotten smaller.

I'm an Australian citizen.....living in Canada....with Italian parents...shoots IPSC (Standard and Open Class)meeting fellow shooters on a California based forum.

As for my two cents worth..I'd go with a STD length...you can always shorten the top end....or get another top end latter.

By the way..I'm partial to 9 Major as opposed to .38 Super.

    Ciao.
