  1. i'm cross dominant... right handed, left eye dominant.

No magic tape... i just shoot with the dominant eye. it doesnt really affect the shooting at all. Think BE said something about it as he's cross dominant as well..

    Good Shooting...

  2. I had something like that before. Shells used to hit the c more mount. this would intermittently cause a jam as the shell would sometimes bounce back into the ejection port and get locked up.

wasnt the extractor at all but the way the ejector was tuned. I had to tune the ejector such that it hit the brass a little more on the inside of rim of the shell. I noticed that all of the previous shells were getting indentations on the case rim such that no matter how you tried to tune the ejector for a sideways path.. it never happened.

once i'd tuned the ejector such that it was not hitting the rims of the case, it ejected horizontally. might be the same problem and hope this helps

  3. on a 170mm sti big stick, arredondo follower and dawson pad i get 28 only. Its all you really need anyway.

for the 32 round courses... you need to reload anyway. IMO you dont really 29,30 rds in the 170mm. you'll change mags anyway. Of course.. if its 25rd stage and below, then the big stick shines. but most of the time, happy with using a combination of 140mms and the 170mm...

there are times that i dont even use the 170mm in a match as the stages were designed such that a big stick didnt give you an advantage. the 140mm each hold 22 rds and at times, its all you really need for the long stages.

  4. I read all the drama on here about getting mags to hold 18 in Standard or 20 in Limited, and I just have not experienced it.

    Oh well, lucky me. B)

i've been able to have 18 reloadable for Std div.

... same here. Just bought two 120 mm SPS tubes and their follower kit. Can fit 18rds, reloadable in 40cal. Gets expensive though, each mag ended up costing around $100 each.

... but it beats 17rds in the mag though. At least those Para boys don't have as much an edge as before :) he.. he..

  5. Greaaaaaaaaat. So now I have $700 worth of brand new mags and every reload is IDPA legal. Yeah, color me thrilled. <_<

do they do this when they are fully loaded? I got a SV mag that won't drop when its full, but when you've shot half the mag away... it drops just right. Just the same, i don't use it for re-loads. makes it harder to shove in...

I shoot ipsc.. got two 120mm 40cal SPS mags that load to 18. At leat the extra capacity now makes long course more friendly.

  6. Hi all...

just wondering on what parts you guys keep on hand in case something breaks during a match. I have two 2011 blasters, one in open and the other in limited configuration... I don't carry a back-up for either gun at matches.. to dang heavy as it is with gear, guns and ammo in the bag...

the only spares i've got would be an aftec, a guide rod and FO refills... what else should i bring?

All the guns have run 100% since i got them sorted out from my smith... but thinking i'm gonna break something pretty soon...

    Thanks in advance..

    Regards,

  7. yes.. an STI grip will fit on a sps frame...  no problems.  Shooters who have SPS guns here always end up using STI grips as they are more durable than the SPS grips...

No modification needed? I know sps grip to s*i frame need little modification from the trigger guard portion.

    Thanks,

none... we fit a STI Grip to an SPS frame just recently.. wasn't aware of any difficulties. He stippled my old grip that i gave him and on it went...

  8. .... One observation I made that may be significant in IPSC shooting. It has been known that STI mags hold 17, add a grams follower kit and it will hold 18, add a Dawson base pad and it will hold 19. So my mags with a grams follower should have only held 18. It held 19 with room to reload.

.... are you sure its the 126 mm mags? A STI 126 mm mag holds only 15 rds stock... would love to get it to 18rds with some play left.... All i've been able to get is 17 rds max. On a STI mag, a +1 basepad and a arredondo follower. On the grams spring follower kit which i put into a SVi mag.. that will only go to 17 rds max... 9 coils, even with a +1 pad....

I did get 1 mag to go to 18 rds, but no play left... use it as my first mag.

Maybe these are on a 140 mm mag?

I've been trying to get to at least 18, reloadable.... right now, my second and third mags are loaded to 16rds just to ensure that i can reload smoothly w/o having to beat up the gun to get the mag to seat

Any more tricks left to increase the 126mm mag capacities?

  9. Im considering having it built by True Weight, which means one of the gunsmiths that Roland Tan employs. Have you guys hear anything good about them? I know they are expensive, thats for sure.

-1 there.... there are alot of better smiths out there. To name 2, look at first option and metrillo... and they're alot cheaper... shop around first. and really... 2nd hand isn't a bad thing here... most of the 2nd hand guns from shooters tend to be first rate setups...

.. and flex is right... get to shooting. figure out the other stuff later....

    rgds,

  10. But of course, if you have a quarter of a million pesos in budget :o for the gun and the other important stuff like mags, pouches, holsters, etc. Hey, don't let me stop you from getting the best your money can buy. ;)

:D that's how i started out... now i've got a S&W 910, STI open, STI 40, a HK USP... he.. he... at the end of the day... para 16-40's or armscors work the same as STI, HK and S&W... i've found its the shooter that counts...

If you're on a shoe string budget.... get a production gun as its the least expensive to compete... if you fall in love swith the sport, like we have.. there are plenty of limited 40's available out there... just ask a couple of the RO's and/or shooters at the matches.... They're bound to know someone trying to offload a good pistol that's been match tuned etc.. etc...

    Regards,

  11. ... i tried increasing the OAL to 1.14 thereabouts... ended up with Feed failures... so went back down to ~1.126. Can't get longer loads to work with my gun... and its running well so i don't wanna mess with it :)

its a soft load.... easier to manage for me over the 180's.

Max's forum mentions stuff from Blakes load... guess his Dad's changed the load for him now...

    Thanks again... DVC

  12. ....      Maybe you've meant N320 all along?? :)

BTW - once Precision Bullet has their 200gr heads out, I'm planning on giving them a whirl - loaded to 1.200" w/ N320... :)

... hate to say it.. but you're right... i did mean n320 all along. Same load you've referred to in Mass's load data... apologies for that. got fixated on 310 somehow... go figure :) Blakes load data is also for 200 grs at N320... Not N310....

but thanks for putting that right... would've ended up buying N310 if this hadn't happened.. :)

    Regards & DVC...

  13. Troll???.. have you talked to my wife lately? :)

Uh.......................... you said it, I didn't ;)

he... he... wait till you talk to me about the wife then... :)

but kidding aside... in my experience... with a 200gr head, 3.8 grs of N310 chronos at around 860-870 fps, OAL at 1.126 on my S_i.... and i get a 1 digit SD from the chrono. Last two matches i shot were at 170 pf, ambient temp at about 34 deg. C.

So far it has worked... my question now is.. since the load is relatively light (3.8 grs) and I shoot in a hotter temp... does that make the N310 and 200gr Pb heads still prone to over pressure?

I have the Mass copy at home... I'll take a look at it then... I may have mis read the dang thing..

    Regards,

  14. i agree with XRe that load looks very dangerous...i've not had much experience with the 40 loads but an OAL of 1.126 and VV N310...dangerous!!! let a 'smith ream ur chamber to accept longer ammos to prevent a disaster. 1.160 would be the border line...just to be safe...my $0.02

everythings dangerous.. i've been using that load for over 5k rds now and no problems... and yes... i still have all my phlanges....

BTW... i shoot in 30 deg C ambient temps and this load chronos at 170-172 pf consistently.

the curious thing is, that load comes of Jeff Mass's pages.... and i think Blake uses a similar load... though I don't know about the OAL....

Troll???.. have you talked to my wife lately? :)

    Rgds...

  15. I shoot open and limited/standard divisions... sometimes on the same day :) In order to not make things too difficult in the transition between the two divisions, both guns are have the same setups/parts (i.e. STI Frames, Triggers), 1 holster for both guns etc.. etc...

But I make little mistakes all the same as you're not focused on one division.... that slows me down in open at times... Most of the time, its mental...

From my point of view... i do it for the fun. Kinda boring to fire only 100+ rds in one division then go home... so I fire 200+ rds in 2 divisions and go home :) besides.. its the only exercise i get... :)

but if you really want to be competitive, stick to one division, one gun... Flex has good advise for those who want to be really competitive in their class/div.

    Rgds,

  16. I shoot IPSC Std at times... I only get 17 on mine. Thats with the STI springs, arredondo follower and a +1 intl pad from dawson. If you use the arredondo pads, you stay at 16...

I have a sping and follower kit from Grams... so far i can only get 16 in it with the stock pad on it. let me see what cutting off two coils will do :) thanks for that...

    Regards,

  17. on 38 super..

140 mm - 24 rds, arredondo base pads and follower

170mm - 28 rds, dawson pad, arredondo follower... and

+1 if you use supercomp/rimless brass...

best i've been able to do.. but then i don't load the mags to max except for the first mag... mag changes tend to be abusive with mags loaded to max.

    Rgds,

  18. Here in ipsc land where the courses of fire are 9 rounds, 16 for medium and 32 for long courses.

    Jason,

you should really have a talk with your local CoF designers: I'm in IPSC land too, and I started bringing in CoFs of 10, 15, 18, 21, 25, 28 rounds in local matches, just to get rid of this stereotype.

i think its just a rule for short, medium, long course... we also have stages composed of 8, 15, 24, 23, etc.. etc... they mix it up a bit certainly.. and when you have stages like 23 to 27 rd long courses.. that when super or 9mm shines and a long mag... you don't need to change mags :) other than that, its similar to shooting standard i think...

    Rgds,
