  1. I like it, I just do not care for the thought of turning so much lead into dust. I would use a trap like this outside. I have actually been thinking about making one like this myself. You did a very nice job, very nicely finished. You can tell this is not your first rodeo.

  2. The only issue I see is with new shooters shooting factory ammo. We want to incentivize these guys to come back out, not give them one more rule to worry about. I only started shooting USPSA last year and I remember being really worried about breaking one of the many rules and being sent home or not being able to shoot. I for one would rather have the new guys worry more about breaking the 180 than their WWB making 125PF, especially when the odds are they don't even understand PF yet!

Cheaters are another story of course.

Better to let new shooters know if they are or aren't making it up front, and what better opportunity for them to understand what power factor is. What would be embarasing is for a newer shooter to go to a bigger match and not make PF... Part of this game is to help, make welcome and educate the new shooters just to sustain the sport. You are doing them a service by giving them an opportunity to access a chrono, which a newer shooter may not have.

  3. I think it's a great idea.

I quit cowboy shooting because the rules only applied to some shooters and guys were shooting .32's with a grain of Bullseye and a magnum primer. You had to wait for the ding. Guys would get to the unloading table and hear this "ding, ding, ding", it was their own bullets hitting the targets.

If you have rules, they need to be enforced, nothing wrong with that.

  4. As a farmer/rancher, I am fairly active. I finally developed "tennis/shooters elbow", I think from raquetball, anyway, after several months of pain doing nothing except wearing the brace thingie and massage, I went and had the shot, it helped for a little while, but I believe what really kicked it was an accupuncture treatment. Now massage can keep up easily with any pain I may have.

  5. whole grains help reduce cholesterol because of the fiber. (didn't see anyone address that).

I think it basically breaks down to tracking your calories and eating good foods while maintaing some sort of activity level.

If nothing else the simple rule "if it tastes good, spit it out, it's bad for you" works.

  6. Hey everyone. Has anyone out there used or seen one of these? The Bullet Bunker

I am thinking it would be pretty cool if there was one that was a little larger than a Standard Target, about 20"x36" inches, on a stand putting the top at about 5'6". You could staple a target to the face and blast away.

    Any thoughts or observations?

  7. A heart attack is more likely than a gunshot wound... I would take a basic first aid class, have some 4x4's, gauze, tape, eye wash, some band aids, neosporin, asprin, sugar packets, and for crying out loud...a CPR MASK! No one has mentioned that, and trust me, you don't want to have to mouth someone if you have a choice. There is nothing like having someone spew all over you. There are a lot of other things you can improvise, like splints etc...

Get some training and seek advice from your trainer. I would suggest taking a class from a local fire department if possible.

  8. Not a fan of F/O sights, I prefer black, BUT I am going to change everything that is red to green. For me, it is easier to focus on the top of the front sight when the green is in there than the red and my night sights all glow green, so I figured it would cross over better (being use to seeing the green). This is until I take the time to change out my f/o sights on everything.

  9. Did you call or email the NRA? If you are a member, I would call and demand to speak with someone. They survive off of our dues.

It is really discouraging to hear this, but it is getting much too common. People think if you want to do business with them, they are doing YOU the favor just being there.

  10. I have had the pocket pro for years, but ordered the CED 7000 Pro and love it. The random start time really is random, the stop watch feature is the bomb, the spy feature is really cool, and the steel challenge feature is a very nice option. The ability to store and track strings is really nice. I used to bring my notebook out with me, now if I just bring the timer I can follow exactwhat I am doing on each run, then store it when I come in from practice. This is really nice if you are practicing classifiers. My only complaint is that you have to order the pocket clip as an optional accessory.

  11. Swingers are a brian thing. Don't let them play with your brain.

Get your stop watch out one time and play with it while watching a swinger. Watch for the maximum time the swinger is exposed and time it at that spot. Usually when it is all the way to the left or the right. Try and shoot it when it is at that spot. (tough to explain) Anyway, with your timer, you may notice that it is exposed and almost holding still when it is changing directions for a longer period of time than what your normal splits are on a normal stationary target. Try and shoot at the swinger when it is at the almost stationary point as it changes direction, not when it is going 100mph across the top of its arc. Don't follow the the swinger with your gun back and forth, it costs too much time for most shooters.

Something else about shooting swingers quickly is to remember that you should really know how long it takes from the time you hit the activation target to the time the swinger is in its optimum shooting position. It may take 1.5 seconds from the time you shoot the activator to the time the swinger is available to shoot. If you know your transition times, you may have time to shoot your steel, then pick up a few paper target or two then go back to your swinger. You can also use this method to let the swinger slow down if it stops in a visible position (which is usually never :D ).

**After rereading the thread, I think I just repeated what sirveyr said.**

    Something to think about.

  12. I don't understand why Limited rules need to be changed, unless it is to make it more in line with IPSC rules. Creating another class of super expensive guns is not really a way to grow the sport.

The guns in Limited are already, "super expensive". Except when Vogel or Sevigny come in and beat everyone with a $500.00 gun.

I have played with Jessie Harrison-Abbate-Harrison soon to be Duff's Glocks. They were no $500 guns.

  13. Les Baer (then the Director of the Springfield Armory Custom Shop) rented a stroboscopic camera that ran at something like 600 frames per second. He had some shooters run splits that measured .12 or .13 seconds. The camera showed that the gun had completely cycled and settled back down an excruciatingly long time before the shooters' fingers started to come off of the trigger for re-set. The estimated cycling time was somewhere near 0.04/0.05 seconds.

    Amazing!

  14. Will be curious about the Milton-Freewater guys. There are exactly 4 USPSA shooters in the valley that I can think of, and none of them have ever mentioned IPSC in Milton-Freewater. I wonder if they are thinking about doing IDPA? (which would be a blast, and probably better suited to the area right now) There are a few 3-Gun guys around, but they don't do the USPSA matches either. Send me a pm if you can remember who it was that was talking about it.
