  1. Ok, I just reread Charlie's website and he said he has renamed some of his triggers to avoid confusion so maybe we have been talking about 2 different triggers ... The trigger I am interested in is the "Clasic Grand Master Trigger Kit" listed here: Www.vanekCustom.com/3.html

In his description it clearly says that pre travel is adjustable as well as over travel. So, my only question is is this trigger legal in Production? (Kevin and Sarge: is this the trigger you guys have?

Yes, the Classic Grand Master is Production legal as long as you don't modify the trigger safety. Unlike Sarge, my trigger only let me take out very little Pre-travel with impinging on the safety function. That being said, I'd buy it again. The real benefit of the CGM compared to the Classic is the addition of the Jager striker.

  2. Thanks for kind comment and reviews. We are proud of our Racer pouches, and doubly so reading your reviews.

By the way, i am considering making a dedicated single stack version of the racer pouches. What do you guys think? Should we take the plunge and make the investment? We do offer single stack adaptors for the RM and Racer pouches, but a slim dedicated single stack pouch would just be so cool. Any comment would be appreciated.

I know I've said it before, but thank you for giving us products to write great reviews about. :D:cheers:

I think that would be a great option for dedicated single stack rigs, but I personally prefer just using the current insert option. More versatility without taking on much additional bulk. I'm sure there are more die hard single stack guys that would be interested though.

  3. The 650 is a great press but the 1050 is an AMAZING press. If I had to give up one of mine, it wouldn't be the 1050. That being said, IMO, the 1050 has a steeper learning curve than the 650. Not so much in operation, but primarily in setup and maintenance. That's not to say the 1050 is bad to maintain, it's just a different and more complex animal. For .223, the swager is a great addition. The only problem I've run into with my 1050 is that I end up wanting to load my other calibers on it too.

  4. I'm a recent convert too. I was happy with my CR Speed Pouches, but as soon as I tried the Racers, there was no turning back. Much smoother release AND firmer hold (go figure, I didn't think you could have both) and the belt attachment is far superior in my opinion. It's easier to adjust and provides a more solid inner belt attachment then the CR Speeds even with industrial velcro on the back. Additionally, there is no need to fiddle with getting them to stay put (especially when dealing with the CR belts). I've already sold off all of my CR Speed pouches. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend the CR Speed pouches, but in my book, the Racers beat them in every category.

  5. I decided that the only way I'm going to be able to put this to rest is to try Manny's holster for myself. I already know and love the Race Master, so it's time to put Manny's to the test. I have mine on the way. Worst case scenario, it's back to the tried and true RM.

Hey JT, if you would please, give us a good review after you get it and run it a few times...Thanks

    Definitely will do.

  6. 80% would be closer here. Go ebay it and they can bring 120%. Smarter people here I guess.

That has always boggled my mind, but it does consistently occur. It's not as if Dillon equipment isn't readily available and publicly priced.

I agree that in good condition and complete, 80% +/- seems to be about the going rate.

  7. I would recommend loading your mags to capacity and shoot in Limited, so you can focus more on shooting and less on reloads and stage plans.

    Excellent idea :)

Just ordered a Blade-Tech DOH holster, hopefully its here in time, their website is showing a 5 week lead time...

If it's not too late to cancel your order, I'd suggest checking with Shooter's Connection. They are a forum sponsor, have competitive prices, and impossibly fast service. If you register with their website as a Brianenos member, you are eligible for discounts on some products. As you will see in their dealer section of this forum, they have a consistent stream of satisfied customers (myself repeatedly included). I've considered just direct depositing my pay check with them.

  8. While you may not get questioned at a local match, you will be in violation of the rules if you shoot your G31 in anything other the .357Sig. Reference Appendix D4 Section 21.3 on Page 79. If you are trying to stay within the constraints of the rules, your primary options are:

Production - Shooting .357Sig. Unless you load your own, you will be shooting major power factor loads but only getting scored for minor power factor. More information on this is available in the rules. Basically, you are scored higher for all but "A" hits when shooting major power factor. Production does not however recognize major power factor loads.

Limited - Your conversion barrel should be legal provided that you are not using an obscure brand that does not meet the minimum production limited. This also allows you to load your magazines to capacity and have more flexibility with your holster and pouch locations.

Limited 10 - Basically the same as Limited but you can only load 10 rounds per mag.

Rules stuff aside, you'll have a great time. Competitive shooting really is quite addictive and fun. Regardless of where you shoot, there will pretty much universally be a great group of shooters willing to take you under their wing. Enjoy!!!

  9. I have turned three shooters into CZ converts with my carry and competition CZs that Stuart has worked on now.

    :)

You and me both. I'm hoping I can talk Stuart and Angus into giving me store credit as commission for all the people I've sent their way.:cheers:

  10. My factory Shadow barrel was not very accomodating for MG JHPs. I was on the rifling at 1.084". My typical minor loads are 1.142", so I had my barrel reamed. I went this route because I did not want to be stuck with short loads. Not only did it give me less versatility with working up my rounds, but it left me in a bad situation if I ever needed to borrow/buy ammo.

  11. Ended up buying the blue Locktite, but oh my, the last time I bought locktite there was 5 or 6 times more product, and it was 1/3 the cost!!!!! :surprise:

Yeah, it's good stuff, but not cheap. Thankfully, even with regular use, even the relatively small tubes should last quite a long time. I've had my bottle of blue for years and I use it on everything. It only takes a drop or two for just about any threaded projects and around four for a rear sight.

  12. I shot a G34 in Production and then switched to a CZ SP01 Shadow (I also run a Brazos 2011 in Limited - very similar to a lightened slide Edge). It's closer in weight to the Edge. I initially noticed the same thing but quickly got used to it. I would recommend sticking with it. If you're still having problems, you can always go with a short dust cover bushing barreled gun.
