  1. Like many of you here and even more out there who are not on the forum, we experience a very common and flat out PITA with Dillon and primer feed trouble. Guys this is a $1,700.00 machine and has had the same issue for the past 10 years. I have to ask why. Any manufacturer of a great product is proud of it. The have a right to be, they offer the best warranty I have ever seen on their line of loading equipment with the exception of the Super 1050. I can not tell you how many emails I have read thanking Dillon for doing such a good job. And frankly is the reason I have owned three.

This all said, I feel they have just ignored or put their head in the sand when it comes to the primer issue with the 1050. Perhaps you did not know this problem, and if you do not own a 1050 guess you would not. Read many of the threads on BE and see all the years of frustration and wasted hours working on a design issue that I feel is the responsibility of Dillon the manufacturer.

I doubt that the buying public would allow such a disrespect for the customer to not even get involved and redesign or find a cure for these issue of any other product.

But to my dismay I have never seen in any blog or problem thread where Dillon acknowledge that this is a big issue. Says we are sorry and are actively seeking a fix.

Just say ok, will send you some parts. Won't fix their issue but we shut up. UNTill we have the same things start up again.

Hey Dillon..... How about some real help and not just hide from it.

    I would have charged you.

  2. Buy all Dillon dies except for the full length resizing decap die. Get a Lee U die from EGW. This has worked and will work.

On Bullet selection, I lean towards a coated lead (Bayou Bullets)180 grain. They are cheaper than CMJ and take less powder to make major.

Get a pack of 500 200 grain and see for yourself if you like them.

  3. I was a huge fan of the bayous til they dried up.

Didn't know they had dried up ?
Inventory was pretty poor for a while. Hopefully they're caught up.
Just spoke with Donnie... He said he's not dried up. Just placed order.
  4. VV N320 @ 3.8g, 200g Bayou Bullets @ 1.187" COAL =166 PF @ 87 Deg. F

ipscjoe, if it's 44 Deg. F you'll need a tenth or two more of powder charge to meet ~165 PF.

I see you started walking the powder charge up to what you need. That is the best way to get what you need. My load book stated this back in 2008 and it was humid that day and also i'm at sea level. All this factors in, therefore your results will differ a little from mine.

    be safe.

I was surprised it made the 144 pf with that little recoil and barely cycled my used 15 pound factory spring. At 165 it must REALLY be light recoil for major with a 200 gr. My only experience with loading major for my edge was with AA5 back in the day and I never changed it. The recoil is TERRIBLE with that powder. Been trying what the consensus is on loads lately here. And found my loads for 45 acp here too. Was so happy with that I figured I'd better ask for my 40 too. Thanks so much. Shooting is fun again.

    Joe.

    Ipscjoe,

    FYI

I was using a Wolff variable 12# recoil spring with that load.
