  1. That would work. The only difference on my setup is on station 1 on prep. htead I use a Dillon full length sizer and decaper. I use it to resize about ~90% but mainly utilize the decamping pin for the expander ball to take any dents out of the neck.

This expander ball makes the neck round again if needed so in station 3 the 1200 can trim correctly.

  2. Ok current load is this :

VV N320 4.7grains, OAL 1.190 This is supposed to make major.

I know little to nothing about reloading but taking the above load and if I want to reduce for shooting steel and or 3Gun how much less powder could I reduce from the 4.7grains to have a good reliable load?

    Thanks for any advise.

    Mike

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................

I need 5.0 grains N320 @1.150 with a 180 FMJ to make 170 PF with a 5" barrel with two different makes of guns.

I would not trust your numbers without the results from a chrono test to confirm what you believe to be true.

    I make major from a 5.5" with 4.6g

The difference is that my coated Bayou bullet takes less powder to push it to 170pf so I think 4.7g would be very close to 170pf in mike41's pistol as long as it's not FMJ.

Now when I used Zero's I had to use 5g to make major pf.

So it does make a difference on what type projectile you are using.

Along with a reloading press and load data book you need a good chronograph.

  3. Go to Apple. Com and on top right hand corner search your town and find an Apple store and talk to a representative or tech. about what your wants and needs are. The laptops are what I like. After you purchase it, take the basic setup class then after a couple of weeks to navigate to generate your questions then take some work shops. All this is complimentary.

  4. My .40 S&W minor load called for 3.6g of N320 with 180g bayou bullets at 1.187 COAL.

    Made 137 PF at 86 deg F.

The gun was reliable and accurate at this PF with a 10# or variable 11# recoil spring.

  5. I read somewhere and sometime ago that a FLGR is an upgrade. To each their own.

It gives the spring a guide to ride on so it don't rub the tunnel.

If you go with FLGR be sure round off the cut on the last coil so it don't drag or scratch and drag during it's cycle. And be sure to oil the guide rod.

  6. No but STI does

True, Dawson does give to the shooting sport, I see Dawson does sponsors matches in some way and if not at least you'll see Dawson as a stage sponsor.

    FYI, Brazos does this too.

    Just saying.

OP, buy what YOU want to buy because both will serve you well.

  7. I can't come up with a reason not to lube cases prior to loading. With pistol (carbide dies or not) it just makes everything so much smoother and consistent. With rifle and full length resizing, its required to avoid stuck cases. Maybe not needed if neck sizing only for a bolt gun...

I lube everything with Dillon lube, dump right into the hopper and start loading, no waiting. tumble after loading for 15 minutes...GTG

    jj

    yep, i do the exact.
