  1. I shoot a G34 with a KKM and Zero 125's. The KKM I have will take loads out to 1.155 without any issues but they seem to work best around 1.125.

I have not gone longer since they won't fit in the mags if they are much longer. And they shoot best around 1.125 so there is no need.

Incedientially, I asked Kevin the same thing. Brownell's called KKM bbl's "short chambered". Kevin said all of their barrels are made to SAMMI specs.

  2. Jake,

    A couple hours..three tops.

    Jimmy,

If I can finish getting the wheel gun rolling AND make a trade for the 29th (scheduled to work), I might be able to make it a 4th.

  3. MMC shortened and serrated one of their fronts for my G24 a few years ago so it would not overhang.

Don't know if they will do that these days but it's worth a try if the overhang bothers you.

  4. Dave,

My opinion only..but I assume that you will use a PPC technique at 25 and 35 - there is not enough time to get a good solid mount at 10 and 15. PPC has more than enough time. And the x ring is smaller in PPC which requires a "better, more solid" mount on the barricade.

I've found that the techniques are different with a revo and an auto. With an auto, the gun seems to move more since the slide is adding to the momentum. My best scores with an auto are by resting the top part of my support hand on the side of the barricade lightly to decrease any sight movement but not adding any pressure into the barricade. Revo..I used the knuckle busting thumb bending style.

We both know that adding pressure in one direction causes movement in the other direction when the force is decreased..ie recoil. Keep your technique as close to your freestyle platform as possible and pay more attention to trigger pull than the barricade.

  5. Yup. That's the second option, the one that would make a whole bunch of currently-legal production guns no longer legal in the division.

    Bruce,

How would a 3lb minimum after the first shot make currently "legal" guns illegal?

The difference is that with a minimum of 3lb set on the first shot, the advantage goes to the DA/SA guns. The DA/SA guns have a 32 shot advantage on a 32 round COF.

With a minimum set at 3lb for every shot after the first, the striker fired guns have an advantage on 1 of 32 shots. The next 31 shots, both are equal.

  6. I do not agree with the proposed Production changes.

    Triggers..

If it is a safe trigger, the weight is irrelevant.

    Gear..

Now that the rules limit the distance away from the belt to 1", I will not sell gear to shooters who might be able to use them for less than a year in Production. So it costs me money too.

Let's stop over legislating ourselves and get back to shooting.

  7. WOW! Tanfoglio gets my vote and if this model were sold in the US, I'd buy one without hesitation just on principle.

The situation really sucks and hope it doesn't happen in the US. Given the amount of discussion regarding the "intent" of PD, I wonder.

So the difference between CZ SP01 and Tanfoglio is that a few hundred SP01's were sold to a special LE unit which makes the SP01 OK for PD?

Even more reason to leave USPSA PD rules more open ended.

  8. KKM bbls have the same issue..about 25-40 fps slower.

My understanding of the faster velocity out of a stock glock bbl is that the I.D. of the stock bbls decreases slightly as it gets closer to the crown. It screws the bullet into the rifling creating a better bite and less pressure loss equating to slightly higher velocity.

  9. 1:16 is pretty much standard with the 1911 crowd for slower projectiles

+1 I'd bet that the reason for the 16 twist is standardization. Not aware of any mgfr that makes an aftermarket Glock bbl in 1:9 or 1:10 twist.

147's out of a G34 with a KKM shoot fine.

But so do 115's and 125's. Was there a difference? Not really, besides the cost of the 147's. Never had a problem with steel at 135 or so PF either with the 125's.
