  1. 5.0 grains of WSF gives me 1186 fps and a pf of 147. Very accurate in my G34.
  2. It would seem to me that taper crimping would be more compatible with a combo die than roll crimping. The bullet doesn't reach its full depth until the press is at top stroke so the roll crimp is also finishing while the bullet is still moving making it more likely to scrape the projectile. Taper crimping on the other hand will not scrape the bullet. I was using the Mini MBF and a case feeder on the 550 and a RCBS seat crimp die in station 4 with great results. My case feeder has been totally problem free. The output speed is so fast I got tired of stopping every minute or so to rotate the feed tube. I loved it so much I ordered the motorized Mr. Bullet Feeder. Consistency of my finished rounds has actually improved, with fewer rejects than before.
  3. Somebody almost had a bad day. This is a piece of range pickup brass. I don't know who makes it (AMERC) but I have never been able to reload a piece of it. So I assume this was a factory round.
  4. GrumpyOne, I just got a better looks at your pic. Were those Springfields made by EAA, or Tanfo? I have a suspicion that I may have a Springfield lower and EAA uppers. Not that it matters to me. I did pick up an EAA original box when I got this pistol but it was not verified to be the original. Just curious. I love the feel of this gun. I may try to take it back to the smith who built it to see what he thinks.
  5. GrumpyOne, The sale that I bought this at also sold a Springfield that looked like it, amongst many other nice pieces.
  6. barrel lock-up with load in chamber. How old is the barrel?? Probably 15 to 20 years, and belonged to a competitive shooter, with untold rounds down it. Next thing I will try is factory loads, although some of the testing I did with this included FMJ bullets, not plated.
  7. The extractor will 99% of the time extract the case. The only time it didn't was in firing. Always if the slide is pulled back. Pics of: slide and barrel, cases in chamber (brass is reload, nickle is factory, showing lockup with round in chamber. Problems uploading photos. Will try another reply.
  8. Per Skydivers link, that is the pistol I am talking about. Supposedly custom built by a very good smith in the 90's?. I thought the crescent shaped marks on the primers may have been caused by a piece of trash on my primer seating ram. I have attached a pic of a factory new case that I fired in it tonight.
  9. I am using the 9x19 barrel. When I look down the barrel the fp hole looks off center, but it does not appear to be larger than normal. Thanks.
  10. EAA Witness, comped long slide, is showing off center primer strikes that seem to vary in depth. The accuracy is very poor. 6" groups from a rest at 25 yds. Vertical stringing. Occasional failure to ignite primers, poor ejection, stovepipes. Loads used: 4.8 231, 4.2 Titegroup, 4.0 Titegroup, Berry's 124 RNDS. It looks like it is locking up properly. Thanks for any suggestions.
  11. Can I shoot 9x19 in my 9x21 barrel? I have a 9x21 barrel and comp for my EAA Witness. If I needed to use it, would it be safe to use 9x19 in it? Thanks for your reply's.
  12. I need some help trying to find a mag that will fit this. My mag measures 1.255 x .950 and hold 17 rounds. Can someone please tell me which mags to order for it. Are Mec-Gar mags OK? They have one that is listed as a 16 round that looks like it may work. Flack Jacket mentioned he converted his 9x21 to 9 Major. What is involved in doing that? A barrel swap? Reaming the chamber? Or does it use the standard 9x19 chamber and brass? Thanks in advance for your assistance and reply's.
  13. Interesting. The extra slide is marked with only "Cal.9", and the barrel is marked "Cal.9 para". Underneath that is stamped "9x21". So I was under the impression that it started as a 9x19 and was reamed to 9x21.
  14. Hi All, Would one of you please care to tell me what I have here. The frame has no markings except the serial number. The slide does say EAA. This was supposed to be customized by Gann Custom. It includes an extra slide and barrel marked 9x21. Thank you very much for your reply's and I hope I'm not out of line here by asking what a value would be. Thanks
