  1. Thanks, I’ll order it and see how it fits. Any idea on recoil spring weight? I’ve got a 12lb in my 6” eagle, but that’s probably a bit light.
  2. I always replaced the recoil master in my 5” 2011’s but I haven’t had any luck finding a guide rod and starting spring weight for the 4” gun. Dawson doesn’t have anything and I haven’t heard back from EGW yet. Wilson has a flat spring that’s supposed to work but it has a 22lb spring. Has as anyone else tried to find an alternative to the RM?
  3. I’d like to shoot a local match first, but I just don’t have the opportunity to attend a weekend match until late summer. I’ve shot completely before so I’m not too concerned about getting a DQ.
  4. I have holsters and enough magazines for each gun but I’m starting to think the STI would be more fun. It’s jusy such an easy fun to shoot reasonably well.
  5. Some guys from work invited me to the State USPSA match this May and since it’s during the week I’d be able to swing it schedule wise. I don’t have time during the weekend to attend the local matches and I probably won’t until late summer or fall.I will do a lot of dry fire and airsoft drills in my garage between now and May, but I thought I’d ask which gun I should use? This is just for fun for now and I’m not willing to buy another gun just for this. What I have now: STI Eagle 6.0 in .40 Beretta 92A1 Sig P320 FS Glock 34 with RMR 06 Glock 19 with RMR 06 I’ve got a few other pistols but those are my best options. I’m leaning toward shooting production with my 92, but the STI is a definitely a close second.I don’t like the FS 320 as much as my 320 TB and I’m not sure if I want to try CO.
  6. It's got a trubor barrel so that's why the comp is SS. The armslist picture sucks, but the pictures of the one i bought look quite a bit better.
  7. It hasn't arrived at my dealer yet, but I'll but I'll get some pictures up when it does.
  8. I just picked up a Wasp on gunbroker, and I wanted to see if anyone remembers the Wasp or Hornet? I called STI and they didn't have any info about the recoil system. I think it uses the recoilmaster, but since I've replaced that in all my other STI's I'd like to do the same with this one.
  9. I just won a 6" STI Eagle with 10 mags off Gunbroker with the intent to have a 10mm barrel fitted. I want to keep the .40 barrel to shoot when I'm not out in the woods or fishing so that keeps me from just having the current barrel rechambered. Any recommendations? Thanks

    Want one!

Hopefully mine will arrive before I move.
  11. Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to go with the CZ since the price is defiantly lower and I prefer 9mm to .40. There is more opportunity to shoot USPSA where I'm at now, but since I only have 6-9 months left here I don't want to base a purchase solely on what I can shoot here. Plus it will be cheaper to suppress than a STI and the Kadet magazines are much cheaper than tac-sol 2011 mags. Now I just have to sell a couple more items and I'll be good to go.
  12. I have decided to start shooting either IDPA or USPSA since there are monthly matches local to me and I'm trying to decide between the aforementioned pistols. The STI would be in .40 to take advantage of the .40 ammo and brass I already have, but I still enjoy shooting 9mm more(and I have more 9mm guns than .40's). I used to own a STI Tactical so I am familiar with the 2011 platform, but it's been almost 15 years since I last shot a CZ pattern gun. I know the CZ would have the lowest entry cost, but with wanting to be able to shoot IDPA, USPSA and 3 Gun I'm just not sure which way to go. Does anyone have an opinion between the two guns? I'd like to get both, but that's not an option right now. Thanks
  13. Well I went back to the range yesterday with the stock mag, 5 MecGar's, 3 CMC Power Mags and 3 Wilsons and they all ran well except for one of the Wilson's. It refused to lock the slide to the rear every time. I took it home and smoothed a couple sharp edges on the follower. Hopefully that will do the trick, but it is annoying that the $13 mags ran better than the $30 ones.
  14. Well I took her out today and the CMC's ran flawlessly. Due to time constraints and work I only put 150 rounds down range but at 25 it'll keep them all in the x ring of a transtar II offhand.
  15. I did get a few Wilson's, but the range I use is not the best and I didn't want to tear them up too bad with mag change drills. I think I'll try some CMC's and see how they run.
  16. I got a Trojan 5.0 I get free .40 brass at work, so I can shoot much cheaper than my .45's
  17. I picked up a .40 STI yesterday and I am looking for info on mec-gar or metalform magazines. I already ordered a few Wilson .40 mags, but the mecgar's are about a third the price of a Wilson and I have had good luck with mecgar Sig magazines. Does anyone have any experiance with either of these magazines?
  18. I have a .40 S&W 2011 and I have thought about having a 9mm barrel fitted to it. I have seen some folks do this on Kimber's, but I am wondering if anyone has tried it with a STI slide.
  19. Thanks for the info. It looks like they aren't worth the trouble.
  20. I have tried the search function, but I haven't found out too much about STI's aluminum 2011 grips. I was looking to something different for my Tactical 5.0 and I saw that Dawson has them on sale so it piqued my interest.
