  1. Since getting their PIN for Area 4 squadding, has anyone else started getting a bunch of spam from "Mariana William area4shooters"?[/size]

Yep, a bunch of it... :-(

I haven't signed up for Area 4 but am getting the spam. Looks like it is coming from that old yahoo Area 4 group that nobody uses anymore. Whoever the moderator is there needs to change the restrictions on joining and message approval or you can just leave the group since nothing has been posted there in years.

Hmmm, I don't know because I never was a part of that group unless Ken Cobb was.

  2. I'd jump at the chance to pick up 16 pounds of SR4756 (at a decent price) and am a little bummed it is going away.

In a super I think it is one of the best powders with 124gr and up bullets. A little too compressed for my tastes with 115 gr bullets.

Yep, I find 9.1 grains under a 121 MG IFP at an OAL of 1.234" works great. 179ish PF and lots of gas to work the comp.

  3. 4756, if you already have a large quantity, as it is due to be discontinued this year by Hodgdon.

I really like 4756 and when I heard it was being discontinued I was able to find 16lbs from a small gun store in New York selling on Gun Broker. Now with the 20 lbs I already had I might just be set for a long time.

Oh, and don't even tell me there may be something else out there I'd like, I'm invested now.

  4. I wish I was in a higher tax bracket because I'd have a back-up Identical to my main gun.

Like this, waited 11 1/2 months but they finally came this week. Identical except for the triggers. Ones red the other black. Easier to tell them apart.

  5. This may seems like a strange questions but on the stages is the ground sandy, loose soil, gravel, dirt, clay....? Was just wondering as one of the videos a shooter lost his footing in what looked like mud. In the southeast all the clubs I shoot at use a lot of loose gravel.

Augh for the good old days when this match was shot in March. You'd get to experience everything from frostbite to sunburn, ankle deep mud to dust... all during the same match.

Robert has really improved the bays since then with a fine gravel that keeps it in much better condition should it rain.

  6. It truly is an epic product. The Nooks are easier to read but being it wasn't designed for them they are a little funky to operate. I'd like to see a way to get the results at each stage by Bluetooth on your device so we wouldn't have to write them down at level 2 and up matches, but then that would really be out there.

  7. Big thanks to the VOLUNTEER staff, the fantastic range and ranch staff! As the RM some of this falls on me. We were running fine till lunch time, then some squads shot through lunch and things fell apart. It was the staff match, sorry that was not made more clear to those thinking they were at a country club with bag boys and caddies. Since there was no Shooter McGavin registered for the match, I won't even consider anything that person has to say. One person talked to me on Friday, I did what I could. I am a VOLUNTEER, trying to help put on a match, when you pay me to work, then you can bitch at me about my work. my phone number is listed. It sucks when you are in your car on your way home after 3 days of VOLUNTEERING only to get an email from your Area Director telling you your match had issues. Makes you want to go play outlaw 3 gun. If folks would volunteer more and be helpful, maybe things could and would run smoother. But when it's a ALL VOLUNTEER event, and you are short staffed, stuff happens. The match staff worked their collective asses off to make this a good match, I am so proud of these VOLUNTEERS, they gave and gave some more. See you guys nexty year for Cowtown 2015! I'll be shooting it beacause it's a fantastic match put on by some fantastic VOLUNTEERS!

Because of my schedule I usually always shoot the RO match even though I'm not an RO. I think everything was great. Typically when shooting the RO match you do have a few glitches, the RO match is an opportunity to work those out for the main match when there are many more people shooting. I wouldn't put to much stock in some post made by someone with only one post and no profile. Sounds like a troll to me at best or someone with an axe to grind. I think all the volunteers did a terrific job and I'll vote with my money and be back next year. I really appreciate people like Ken, Steve and anyone who will work for free so I can have fun. One BIG THANK YOU ?

  8. Last year this match was great; organized, smooth, and very fun. This year was not a very enjoyable experience. I shot on Friday and to me it was the exact opposite of last year; unorganized, rough, and not very fun.

    • No shooters meeting. There was an RO meeting prior to the match, which I should have attended (will explain later)
    • No stage descriptions were read
    • Squads were jumping stages, which seemed ok at the time of the jump, but that became very clustered very fast and in the end caused squads to wait for an unneeded extended period of time.
    • Squads of 8 or less was not good number for a Level II match
    • Some squads did not have an RO which is mandatory for each stage of a Level II match
    • Even squads with an RO had non-RO contestants who paid the full match fee "running" and scoring other contestants
    • contestants who paid the full match fee were operating the Nook without any prior training to this match, and the Nooks were very troublesome and slow
    • Allowing people who were not shooting on Friday to walk stages while those shooting on Friday were trying to get their rushed walk through in. Could we have told them to move? Sure, but that would be the place of a match official that was not assigned to stages, and by that point of the day honestly no one cared because of all the above.
I feel it was a shame that the majority of the Friday shooters had to experience at least part of this if not all of it. I do understand the concept of assisting with taping and resetting/painting steel after a squad mate shoots, but at a level II match contestants who paid the full match fee should not be required to RO, score, then after RO'ing or scoring help tape and reset steel. This is because there was not enough people on the squads. Many times we had to finish RO'ing or scoring, then jump right into shooting the stage. Not a good scenario for a contestant who paid the full match fee.

I think the match organizers should show a sign of good faith and refund all the paid contestants who shot Friday their full match fee, or at least 1/2 of the fee.

I am sure those that shot Sat/Sun have a different opinion of the match and I hope they enjoyed it. I am sure they did not have to experience any of this and they had a smooth, organized, and very fun match that they paid for and deserved. That is not sarcasm, just an assumption on my part.

Wow, glad I wasn't on your squad ....

  9. With the gov't taxing the hell out of us everyday and the price of everything going

I like how you include this in your post, and assume cost are only going up for you and not going up for the people putting on the match.

    Bravo!

  10. Have you ever put on a match? Do you know what it costs? Bill Gates didn't make his Billions putting on matches and I don't think anyone one else is doing more than covering their costs. As for taxes those are a result of elections.
