  1. 1200 rds per can of gas sounds good. That is the information I was looking for.

I shoot a Para but I will buy a glock 34 soon. I plan to shoot both in different events.

which airsoft gun would you buy? Should I buy one with all the upgrades? I really want a quality gun.

  2. cost per shot on airsoft... I dont think anyone has figured that before. I think I paid like $12 for 5k BBs the only thing i did to save some cash was got a propane tank adapter. The green gas is propane it just has silicone oil in it.

I was not sure how much gas the gun used. On the other fourms I hae heard that the 1911 pistols were gas hogs. Dont get me wrong Im not cheap just dont want to spend a lot of money shotting BBs when I could be slinging lead. It may be that they guys are doing airsoft competition and the clip does not last long enough.

  3. I had a chance to go to the range and test the moly bullets.

Every thing seemed to work just fine. There was no leading in the barrel. The bullets performed just as the store bought non coated bullets. I do not like the black finger and thumb I get from loading the mags. I need to do head to head test on soft coated and non coated bullets. I just cant seem to find the time.

So far I am happy with results. It makes sense that the molly would protect the base and that is what Im after. keep in mind I not trying to increase velocity just trying to shoot soft bullets with good results.

I will say this - Bought some screen for Ace Hardware and made a basket to heat treat bullets in. I was worried about results. I am unsure of what temp to treat the soft bullets at. I ended up at 500 deg. I heated the bullets 35 minutes and droped them in water. I have no way to test them but they are a lot harder than the non heat treated bullets. I think even poorly heat treated bullets come out hard. may not work for magnum loads but should be great for mild loads.

    More to come

  4. Just got my timer and took off work early to go by the range and run a few racks. I was excited! Called my Girlfriend and ask her to stop by (its on her way home) BIG MISTAKE!!!!! First she cant get in the gate. (she cant work the combination lock) She calls me and says some one is pulling up what do I do. I tell her to ask them for a badge and let them in. She hangs up on me. (I'm not sure why) I try to call her back - cant get her. ( the range I'm on is the only one with the steel rack) I get in the car and at the same time her and another truck come in. They pull up on the range with me because the see me loading my gun case in the car.

The moved to the back range thankfully. She gets out with a attitude. I ask her to time me. She complains about having to give me range commands. ( I had shortened them to only to -are you ready- and - stand by_) She is standing so far back I have to strain to hear her or the BEEP. I actually drew the gun to the sound of a shot on the back range one time.

I was so pissed I did not enjoy shooting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I need to trade her in. Anyone have a chick that can open a lock and hit the go button on a timer that they are willing to trade?

Description - Hot and dumb. Aurguminitive and Incapable of following simple instruction . TRADE OR SELL FOR BEST OFFER

    :angry2:

  5. I just recived my PACT MKIV. My first question is where do i open this thing up to insert the vhs tape. ITS HUGE. I am a new shooter and never owned a timer. This is the worst instruction booklet I have ever seen. I have read the book ( all 16 pages) and still have no idea to control the timer ! I really thought this was the timer I wanted now I really dont think so. Im going to send it back and get the Club timer unless anyone can tell me why I should not.

  6. Hey guys im new here and a little embarresed of myself about what im going to post. I really need a good swift kick in the pants.

Well here is the story - I was at my second steel match satruday morning. I was in a group of about 7 people with a new (unexperenced RO ) we were a few shooters into the stage and the RO was handling a junior shooter in the box. We had a two guys that were new to shooting steel but are long term members of our club (more on this later) one of the guys walks to the safe table and pulls out a mag and starts loading it. I watch in disbeleif ! I am as green as a cucumber and know better ! I look at the RO and he is wrapped up with the kid.

At this point I should have said something and I did not. That is what I am upset about. I am very unsure of myself at the matches and try to be low key. I watched the guy load the mag and did nothing. I felt bad about getting the guy DQed and getting the new RO to DQ him. My mistake!

Come to find out these two guys (freinds) were great shooters. They are both accomplished in other disiplines of shooting. The guy that loaded the mag has been IHMSA match director. I just dont think they had enough respect for what was going on. I learned a lot from this event. I have had a guilty consence since the match.

  7. Im glad to find this topic. I just coated 200 40 cal bullets tonight. I use a little different method. I used a new midway bowl with solid lid and added bullets with BBs. had already sized bullets then after molly coating them ran them through the sizer and lubed them.

Here is what Im using !

Im using soft lead with out heat treating. (harder than pure lead but not hard)

Im pushing the bullets about 940 fps (speed of non molly bullets) I want plenty of presure to seal the base of the bullet.

    Here is the plan !

Moly acts as a fire retardent. I want it to protect the base of the bullet. Molly will reduce pressure because not all the powder is burned. It should give the same velocity with less felt recol. I simply dont want to heat treat my bullets. I have not had any real trouble with this type of lead but I want to try the molly and see how it works

Im shootin my second outlaw steel match tommorrow and cant sleep. Hope to shoot the molly lead after the match and will post results.
