Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Please keep in mind that I did not start the thread on Point Shooting or this one. I don't know who is the troll here, but not me that is for sure. It is easy to bant about words. In any event, don't despair. The traffic to my site that I started up in July, has been: Aug - about 8,000 hits, Sept - about 9,000 hits, Oct - about 10,000 hits, Nov - 10,000 plus. In Dec there are already over 10,000 hits. In the last 3 to 4 days there has been a considerable increase that could be attributed to hacking. I don't know. The URL's of visitors and their sites can be tracked with a bit of effort, and will be investigated and acted upon, if other than short term spikes continue and indicate a neeed for that. I don't care about or need "your" traffic, and in particular visits by snot nosed kids. As to the aiming device and hits ( http://www.pointshooting.com/guntests.htm ), four of the five hits made on the traget with a KAHR K9 and marked as such, can be covered by a dollar bill. Now, anyone can take a dollar bill from their wallet or purse, and hold it against their chest. And then look down at it and imagine FOUR 9 mm slugs hitting it and going through it. The next time you are at the store, do that and think about it. LOL, NOT. Not even sort of funny. And I don't even know what ring the hits are in, and don't care. I do think that guns are for killing. What else??? The hits were made by an old geezer, who seldom if ever shoots (only seven times in forty plus years), who did not use the sights, used a rental gun, pulled the trigger with his middle finger, and shot as fast as he could point his index finger at the target and pull the trigger. No sights, no trigger control, no problem. Only "gross" not "fine" motor skills are involved, and they can be expected to improve under stress. On the other hand, fine motor skills can be expected to be lost under combat stress according to the scientific literature. In a real life or death situations, the aiming aid could be an effective means of staying alive for your average home defender, male or female. Those of you who decry the use of a device, could actually be helping to kill some poor sole who's life could depend on getting any and all the help available to them. Like it or not, it works, perhaps not to your idea of perfection, but where are your reliable stats on real time kills and wounded using Sight Shooting vs the bad guys/gals??? I have watched some of the range competition videos referenced on this site, and found them to be interesting and most effective for close in, and in particular for long distance pistol range shooting. For a scientific analysis of real time life and death gunfights, see SOP 9 Analysis of NYPD Police Combat http://www.pointshooting.com/sop9.htm Happy Holidays.
