  1. When I first started the prizes I won were, well not the greatest, but they definetly were not the reason I went. Now that I have put in some time and my scores are getting a little better the prize table speaks to me a little more, but it still is not the reason I go.

The reasons I go and how I pick where to spend my money are:

    1. Enviromental quality. I really apreciate the hours put into building the props or cleverly positioning the targets in natural terrain.

    2. A professional staff. I want the stages to be the same for EVERYONE, whether they are sponsering the match or the average joe

    3. The people. I have met some of the greatest people shooting 3gun. Couple that with being able to shoot WITH the pros and learn from them is outstanding

  2. I have known a few people who were a "B" in limited but a "C" in L-10 or vice versa. Go to a major and shoot their lesser classification to hopefully do better at the prize table, like win the class and walk the table early (I hate USPSA prize tables btw) or bragging rights to their friends.

I originally started shooting limited 10 because I had a SS and 10 round mags. When the hook was set deep and funds allowed I moved to limited and open and haven't looked back.

  3. For the Akdal I would think one of the small Eotech would be great. Fine dot in the middle and outer ring for your birdshot. I have a saiga and use the c-more STS which has a 7MOA dot I think. I find myself trying to center the dot too much, more so than I do with my tacops benelli with just the fiber optic. Hope this helps.

  4. I know that for me I shoot my 6" limited gun faster and I seem to have an easier time being more accurate at speed too. I am looking at having a dedicated 3 gun pistol made and am wondering should I see the same benefits with a 6" over a 5" in 9mm? Does anyone have any real world experience with both 5" and 6" 9mm's that they care to share. Thanks

  5. Hello: I built a 6" 9mm and it is a sweet shooter. I use 121 grain Montana Golds at 134PF and it shoots soft. It is actually a little heavier than my 6" 40. I really don't see the advantage of a sight tracker and have shot a couple of them. You could have another top built for your 6" 40 also. Thanks, Eric

How does the recoil and impulse compare to your 6" 40? Which one do you prefer better for a 3gun application?

    Thanks

  6. Has anyone played with one? What are your impressions? I have a 6" 40 and like it over the 5", I am looking at building a dedicated 3gun pistol in 9mm. I am also considering a sight tracker for this and my next 40 project. Maybe even an SV with the interchangable breechface. What are your thoughts?

    Thanks

  7. I thought the reticle is suppose to get bigger when you zoom in; in a first focal plane scope ...

It does. The reticle stays the same size in relation to the target which means that the reticle looks small to you on 1X and then gets bigger as you zoom in. Thus, the subtensions stay the same at any magnification level.

The picture on the first post of this thread shows that FFP setup, and that "dot" on 1X doesn't seem to be 16MOA.......

Thats why I was asking @ 1x the dot didnt looked like a 16moa @ all

Exactly, that is why I was confused and was hoping for a pic on 1x at a target at say 50 yards.

  8. the size of the reticle is the same whether its on 1x or 6.5x on the FFP version. thats the benefit of FFP scopes.

Naturally, I slapped myself in the forehead right after I posted that and turned off the computer... Of course that's the point of the FFP scope!

In the meanwhile, I was trying to eyeball it---literally---because we hadn't taken the scope out to the range yet, so I hadn't paid much attention to the reticle details and I am more used to MOA than Mildots anyway.

Anyway, the outer radius of the BTR-2 horseshoe seems to be 3mil, so 6mil across---which would be, I believe, 21.6in at 100yd or a little bit over 20MOA---significantly bigger than I thought, to be sure. We sighted in on an 8in Shoot'n'C at 50yd and the horseshoe circumscribed it nicely; that would be a 16MOA target, roughly, which sounds right for the inner diameter if the outer is 20MOA.

By way of comparison, the circle on a standard EOTech reticle is 65MOA, so the BTR-2 circle is just under a third of that.

I shall now go bang my head into the wall until I knock all the stupid out.

This is confusing me a little. Any chance when you go to the range you could set out a uspsa paper target at 50 yards and take a pic with the scope on 1x power? Or anyone else? I would also love to see how bright the illumination is on a sunny day. This would kill 2 birds with one stone. I called Bushnell tech service line and they weren't any help. Thanks

  9. I think that the match was well run but I have a couple of things I think can be improved upon. Their isn't any grandure. Heck there isn't a sign at the entry to the club. At ANY big match I have shot they at a minimum put out a paper target that welcomes you.

I will also say I am very dissapointed in the hotel. Granted the rooms themselves were clean but the rest of the hotel was a dump, including the rickety elevator. The hotel is located at the edge of the hood. I think it should have been looked over before booking, and if it had somebody else should take that job over.

I don't mean this as a dig to revelver shooters, but why is open and revo paired together? It seems like they are the furthest apart you can get. I wonder if some of the stage design was setup with revo shooters in mind.
