This is a pretty narrow-interest thing, but if you're one of those who's desperate to shoot your old Highway Patrolman Model 28 (or 27) in some sort of action competition, you already know that your speedloader situation is not good.
Yes, there are some who can use HKS loaders with security and speed. But, they're in a definite minority, and I salute you. At least, I will as soon as I'm done picking up all the ammunition on the ground that I dumped there from HKSs.
The fastest, most secure speedloaders for these guns would be the old Safariland Comp Is, which haven't been made in years. They're none too great for competition, either, since being so shortened for concealment, they don't have a good grab-and pull ergo going.
A few of us have the ancient Dade Machine loaders, which, of course, aren't exactly Comp IIIs, and, should you hit the button at the wrong time, messier than HKSs.
But these are still out there- I have four and I'd be thrilled if anyone sold me any of theirs- and they are speedy if you break the habit of pushing the button.
They use a coil spring to retain the cartridge rims, and it isn't exactly powerful. It's possible to have the ammunition depart at inopportune times because of that.
I started out trying to see how to improve the security, and found myself looking at my hammers. Now that I'm getting older and slipperier in the hands, I put "Airgrip" rubber sleeves on them to make it easier to hang on.
Subsequently, I sliced off a short section to slip over my Detective Special's Hogue rosewood handle, sort of like a HandAll without fingergrooves. It was a huge success, making the gun more stable during use and still allowing the pretty wood to show (a serious consideration to old carpenters, you know).
I stole two more to wrap the Dades and lo and behold, they hang onto their loads much better, and not only that, if I'm using carriers that don't fit so well, the rubber around the perimeter makes them stay put on the belt better, too.
The only reason I've never IDPAed my HP was because of speedloader frustration; now, I'm looking forward to trying it.
And, if I can come up with a couple more, might even put aside myWebley for a USPSA match or two.

Dade Speedloaders were fast... and discontinued a long time ago. But there seems to be some old stock left over on E-Bay... original manufacturer is selling old stock.

Mad Bomber,
Knowing your wife ...she'll shoot it better than you anyway.

Really like the New Limcat. A good solid presentation, unlike the earlier model that allowed the revolver to pivot on the triggerguard.

"Scoring
An explanation of the mystery.
????????????????????????????????
As in the days of yore...only those who have shown themselves to be worthy (or had a calculator) were given the secret to scoring a stage. All others were deemed too foolish to be given the task. Thus it went for many years...shooters doomed to be ruled by the interpretations of others! In this age of darkness there was seen a glow of truth, honesty and education, and so it is passed to you. Carry proudly the torch of knowledge.
1. A shooter’s score* divided by time results in a value called the hit factor.
2. The highest hit factor for the stage is deemed to be worthy of the full points possible.
3. All other hit factors are a percentage of the high hit factor and receive the appropriate percentage of the possible score. This value
becomes your match points for the stage. [(your Hit factor/ the highest hit factor) x points avaiable for the stage.] Repeat for each
stage.
4. Match winners are determined by the person with the highest number of matchpoints."

Hawaii is 10 rounds for handgun magazines... that includes rifle magazines that fit in pistols ( AR-15, 10/22, M1 carbine). To make matters worse we have local stores that sell 30 round magazines for the AR-15, but no one in the Government is willing to say that they are legal to insert in a rifle. No one wants to be the test case.

Carmoney,
Hammer is a dremeled wonder... not as radical as the ones you do, but definitely lightened.

Bubber,
Loads all go bang... if I try and lower my trigger pull to 6# I start having occassional clicks. Shoot USPSA, use the 627 in Limited division.

I'm running a 627 in .38 special, bobbed/lightened hammer, extended firing pin, bent springs and a trigger pull just a tad under 7#. The unofficial ball point pen launch measures 4' 8" (breech face to the apex of pen's plastic end cap). Currently using winchester cases, VV320, Federal Small Pistol primers and a billy bullets' 160 round nose. My primers are seated to a depth of .009". Am I seating my primers too deep?

Whenever I remember to I send him an e-mail. My messages must go directly to the trash... never had a response. Still need subgun pouches, still have not gotten a reply. Asked at Brownells... they have no products from 3 gungear, so besides Dillon, who is taking up all his time?
-
When I first purchased my Limcat it came with 2 trigger locks... one for STI and the other for 1911. Don't know when the Limcat became model specific, but I have a friend who needs a 1911 trigger lock. Tried Limcat... no response. Anyone have one that they don't need?

A great performance!!!

Just mounted a Quinn... mount is low. Really wish that I shot better so that I would be good advertising for the mount.
