I have been running limited gun with 9/40 top end for 6 seasons. Also a 40 SS gun he built me.
-
I have been running a 2011 9mm for 6 years. It was built for 3 gun. If I could only own 1 I would get a 40 and down load ammo. The difference in capacity is not that big of deal. There is always time to reload.
-
Every club I have shot at is really not enforcing it. A few at the matches will, but not many. I do it to hear the whining. I will also watch them almost fall over trying to time the beep.
-
I'll stick with my setup that works. I ran a switch top end 9mm and 40 that worked for 4 years before just building a lower for the 9mm. Not crazy about the glock style barrel.
-
I have run 9, 40 and 45 in SS over the years. I prefer the 40 because I don't have to load 2 different calibers. Same load in my limited gun, If the 40 is built correct it runs anything you put in it. I load it down to minor when I shoot certain matches and no issues. Using Tripp mags and 140 gr to 200 gr bullets.

It has a really light buffer spring. It hand cycles easily. Hope to get out to shoot it tomorrow. If it gets above zero.

Anyone trying the UTAS 12 XTR. Picked one up at the gun shop this week. So far about 50 into it and it seems to be ok. Needs chokes and a comp. Higher cap mags would be nice also.

I am going to try UML matches. Looking at 2x4 and all PCC.

If you trap the gun against your leg would it be sweeping yourself with the muzzle? Unloading or not shouldn't matter, right? Still a do.

What is the difference between 1. high end builder and CK ?
2. CK and STI ?
Accuracy ?
Dependability ?
???
Ck vs sti.
The sti required a couple of passes with file on the extractor. Tight chamber needed to be opened up for coated and lead bullets. Factory mags didn't feed. Easy enough fix.
CK would not feed to ammo reliably. Easy enough to fix. Both guns reliably now with no spacers in old sti mags
Ck vs full custom.
I still like my full custom builds. No work needed until they got into 2nd and 3rd seasons. Getting ready to have another built.
-
I have run guns from most high end builders over the years. I don't put them in those circles, but better than STI. I picked up the CK to hold me over until my custom is finished.
-
I own both. I know the CK is better fit and quality than anything that rolls off the factory floor.
-
I would go with CK over a factory pistol or tweaked factory pistol.

I am not keeping a backup in 40 right now. I wish I did my main limited gun is down. I have been shooting a pair of 9mm 2011 while it is fixed. I hate shooting minor limited.
-
I run double alphas pouches or a magnet to hold my mags. I carry a 64 splice mag, pair of 40 rd mags and a pair of 32. I can cover stages anywhere. If no reload is required I go with the splice.
-
I got mine from Jager like thhe other replies.
-
Between 3k and 5k on the recoil spring. Mag springs about 3 x a year. Firing pin spring a couple times a year. My action get replaced about 40k. Probably more often than needed, but it's cheap insurance for major matches.

So I'm retiring the idea of shooting my .40 sti eagle as my esp gun. I just could not ever get everything in the package to be 100% all the time as far as function goes. The advantages I perceived to be gained by doing it just don't outweigh a set up I can't trust without doubt. Darn it. So I set the gun up to be a back up gun for shooting 40 major in uspsa limited division and it works great.
Trying to get .40 minor (180 grain plated bullets, 3.20 E3), slide lock mags(sti and mbx), ammo length between two different 2011's (1.175"), and an extended slide release (wilson or fusion) to all work together just wasn't happening for me.
Mine runs great at minor pf. I also run the ammo thru my limited gun works great for steel and 3 gun. Getting to go to slide lock was an issue, but that was worked out.

Is it legal to require to start holding a rope for an activator or to require using it to activate and target during course of fire? Came up at a local match. I was curious since PCC can't be required to shoot with one hand. The third or fourth shooter did what we were worried about pulling the rope but it didn't activate and he was attempting to go downrange to get rope to try and activate turner. He was stopped and given a reshoot. It looked pretty awkward and nearing unsafe, but he was shooting a pistol. How much worse would it be using a carbine. It was an indoor match so using steel to activate was not an option.

I don't care I just get on a squad and go. I shot mostly PCC this season, but looking forward to going back to limited. I did shoot 2 majors this year where I did not know anyone the squads. It was relaxing doing that.

Sure it is called open.

When and why did you move Mike?
I only work up north, been doing it since July. I took a job to get 20/10 schedule. I still live in Texas. Headed home today. Hope to shoot a few matches while I am home.
-
I only shoot idpa every couple years. My backup 3 gun pistol is a 2011 Marauder in 9mm. As far as I know it's legal. Working up north now there are a couple of indoor idpa matches over the winter to shoot. They have pcc also so I will probably just shoot that.
