  1. The old 28 is a great gun. Unfortunately, changing the front sight isn't going to be easy. Mine is part of the barrel as far as I can tell and it looks to me that it would have to be milled for a replacement front sight.

Does that also apply to the early model (no dash) 686?

    That's what I'm thinkin

  3. I am considering replacing the front sight on my model 28 with a fiber optic dealy. I think the existing sight is some kind of staked deal. Any ideas on how to best deal with this? The fiber optic sights are really helpful to these aging peepers.

    Thank you

  4. I had a Ti cylinder installed on my 625-2. The smith said all he did was work on the timing. I polished the holes with some flitz and I get miner sticking. I always keep after the chambers anyhow. There is some chamfer, it seems to be enough for me. My reloads seem like they are being sucked in compared to the SS cylinder.

  5. I just had a new Ti cylinder installed on my 5in 625. It was 145.00 and 50.00 to have it timed. I haven't shot it yet but the pull feels nice. And it came chamfered, with the star. I like the way the weight is now more out front. I'll probably hit the range tomorrow.

  6. I've been using it in IDPA and it has been fun although it is hard to reload quickly do to the recessed cylinder. I just picked up an early model 686 4in to shoot in that division. That's why I had given some thought to doing something different with the 28. I just thought a longer barrel would be fun.

  7. Hi Guys,

Before I ask my question I would like to comment on the friendly nature of this forum and the overwhelming breadth and depth of knowledge available here. Wow.

So here goes. I was flipping thru my pile of magazines for the tenth time when I noticed an article about the .38special cartridge, an okay article. However there was a picture of a revolver built for Icore out of a model 28 frame. A six in. 686 barrel was installed as well as a 686 7 shot cylinder. I am now thinking of installing at least the barrel on my 28. The cylinder is already clipped. Do you think it was a lot of work to put that 686 barrel on the larger 28 frame? Or is it easy? Just wondering. I would love to hear what you guys think.

By the way I picked up a Model 14-5 6in. with a full lug to shoot USPSA. It's very nice looking and easy to shoot. Also a 5in 625-2 to shoot major. Dig it.

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for the response guys. I want to shoot the IRC in June so I want to be shooting alot between now and then, I don't need hassles. And I don't want to buy just because I think the 327 looks cool.

I really like this forum. Lots of enthusiasm and support. One other question. Does the 8 shot revolver have a place in USPSA?

Thanks again, Sarge, Carmoney, Walt, TM.

  9. Hey Guys,

I've been loitering for quite some time but have not jumped in. I mostly shoot IDPA. I want to start shooting revo more. Randy is working on a 625 for me. I want to shoot USPSA and ICORE. I would like an eight shooter for ICORE. I don't know the divisions and can't seem to find that info on the ICORE site. The 627s and 327 M&P are both nice. I amd leaning toward the 327 M&P. I hefted one in a store in San Diego the other day and was impressed. Plus I do like the way it looks. Help me do the right thing guys.

    Thanks
