if I travel to a match or have to get up at 4:XX AM to get to a distant match, I shoot worse than I shoot a local match.
An alternative : Possible that distant matches (Level II) are more difficult than local matches, and
Possible that the competition is fiercer at the Level II matches than at home.
So, we might be shooting just as well as at home, but facing more difficulties with the match design
and competition.
Just a thought ...
I've travelled to distant matches and do NOT experience the problem you mentioned.
Even the one Nationals Match I attended a decade ago was some of my best shooting (only two
mistakes in the entire match) but the competition was fierce ....

Are you shooting 9mm Major or .38 Super ?
-
I'm surprised you're getting PF176 with only 7.5 g WAC under a MG 124 JHP.
What is the OAL ?
Can you explain a little more what the "some extraction problems" are ? And, how frequently ?
Were you using this same load before, and the problems just started ? Or, is this a new load ?
Have you recently changed anything about your gun ? Grip, safety, magwell, etc etc ?
WAC is a very common powder to use for 9mm Major and .38 Super Major - shouldn't be the
problem. And PF 176 isn't super high - little bit, but shouldn't cause an extraction problem.
WAC's burn rate makes it an acceptable powder for .38 Super, but a slower powder would be
better - but again, it shouldn't cause problems.
Is the brass new or used ?

6.5 gr WAC
1.61 oal
If that's with a 124 gr bullet, it most likely doesn't make Major.
Mine takes 7.2 gr WAC with a MG 124 gr JHP at 1.6"

Any additional info you could provide, like gun, powder, bullet, OAL, how much powder,
what kind of primer ?
I've never seen anything like that - don't know where to start. More info might be helpful.

May not have any employees ?

147gr @ 985fps JHPs in my PCC. One bullet got set back a little. I shot it anyway and had complete case head separation.
Another round did not feed smoothly but did chamber. The case wall blew out.
But, those were not 9mm Major loads - probably a pretty fast powder ?
With a lot of air space in the case from a low dose of powder ?

Do I need the EGW U die if I want to prevent setback in 9mm major?
It's kind of tough to setback a 9mm Major, since there is
so much powder in the case.
You might set it back a little, but it's not dangerous.

Steel grips that are very sharp - fantastic

Well deserved break from all that practice at the range.
I got really tired of going to the range 4-6 times/week.
This is really a LOT more fun, watching Gov Cuomo tell
us the actual facts about the Virus, doing crossword
puzzles and napping all day.
HINT: for those with a tiny sense of humor - this is
biting sarcasm.

Thanks, there is quite a lot of thought that goes into framing a video shot
I was really referring, tongue in cheek, to the camera person
who was holding the camera downrange

take out/clean the seating die and reset it.
seating die will fill up with bullet lube and seat your bullet shorter than you set it

Great shooting,
but the REAL HERO
was the cameraman.

I guess you haven't heard that the Panda holds onto
that gun with 100 lbs pressure in his "weak hand" .

I bet those three A shooters LOVE it when an Unclassified shooter
beats them.

Haven't posted anything because everyone here knows more than me.
Not me.
I do a lot of posting asking questions of the "experts".

My local gun shop had waiting lines until they got shut down couple days ago.
Out of most everything.
But, they're closed for at least two weeks, now.

^^^^ Sounds sensible to me ^^^^^

Speed vs. recoil.
Bet it depends on how hard you grip the gun.
A VERY hard grip would probably favor a lighter gun, and
MY kind of grip favors heavy gun and heavy bullets.
But, a local GM (super GM, actually) just stuck steel grips
on his 2011 and LOVES them - and he's Very Fast.
Just my opinion, BTW.

It's better to try a new place and see if it works out than just give up and turn the lights off.
^^^^^ Worth a try, as a last resort ^^^^^^
If you're going to pull the plug, I would certainly at least
try this first.

I was going to brag about my Kobalt shop table that I reinforced with 3/4" plywood
and bolted it into the wall, but I wish I had thought of the above, from Memphis - looks
like a great solution.
-
Brian, you might want to talk to Absocold - see his ideas above.
-
I'd love to see that again from the other side - see how you're
holding your weak hand.
How much pressure are you applying with your weak hand ?
