  1. I got a slot for the single stack nationals and have a question about my pistol. Yes I have read the rules but I don't have a box to test my pistol. My guns are all set up basically the same. Bomar sights, S&A magwell, Brown beavertail, I use Wilson 47D magazines and plan to use extended basebads if it will fit in the box. I tried to measure the pistol and it appears it is going to be very close anybody have a definitive answer for me?

  2. I have an opportunity to buy a Remington 870 at a very good deal the only downside is that it has a rifled barrel for slugs. Anybody ever shot a load of birdshot down a rifled barrel. Would it stil do what I want it to do for a 3 gun shotgun? The price is not so good that I could purchase a smooth bore barrel and be good to go. Your thoughts?

  3. To Tom Drazy and his staff thanks for your hard work. This is the 9th A4 championship I've shot. I enjoyed the match tremendously. I thought the stages were good, not a hose fest, I liked it. Good balance in the stages of difficult and not so difficult shots. Got to see alot of friends that I havent seen in awhile.

Thanks also goes out to Ken Hicks 9 years as Area director thats alot of dedication to our sport.

To those who want to be critical, step up and help make things better instead of sitting back and whining. Our local match director always worries if people will like his stages. My response to him is if they don't like the stages invite them to design, build and tear them down next month. Would you believe not one person has taken him up on the offer. Anyway if you don't like the way things are run volunteer to take some of the load and make your part as good as you can.

  4. Did Lance fail to mention he placed very high in the patrol division? He may have won it. He and fellow officer Mike Cyrwus shot with us, the Houston area cops. Good guys and did some pretty good shooting. It was my first match of this type and it was a blast. Kudos to all of the organizers and volunteers great job. Some of the friendliest staff I have ever seen. Prize table was outstanding, if you were not in the top 10 you still walk away with something decent all for a $35.00 match fee. I would definately like to try my hand at this type of match again if the match is within reasonable driving distance.

  5. I don't have any holsters for this gun at the moment. If I were to get one that allowed the holstering of the pistol with the light attached, would it also retain it when the light is off the gun? Whats the retention point for these style holsters?

I have a Comp-tac locking paddle for my Caspian Recon Rail pistol. Great holster. Is there such a thing as a holster that will retain the gun with the light on or off? I am not familiar with any

  6. The forum is very quiet about the pro am. We are leaving Friday morning. I am excited to shoot this match and to see facilities. I have also practiced the 60 yard poppers and I think hitting those are the way to go. I am able to hit the pooppers very consistently with 4-6 shots if I concentrate on good sight alignment and a good press (what a concept) You hit those poppers at least you get 20 points for the stage that is not to bad for me.

    Any other updates gmshtr

  7. Looks to be another fun filled match. Stages will be up on the net soon. We are planning to give 10+ guns away and other sponsors have stepped up and committed to the match. Tom Duchman of Action Shooting Supplies is supposed to be there if you need supplies let him know at your earliest convenience to insure he has what you need. The match shirt is real nice it is black with small red panels. don't let the black turn you away the shirt is made of material that is very comfortable to wear in warm climates. The material is similar to the fabric used by Under armor shirts or the Tech Wear. This match always draws 170 shooters or more, helpout your friendly match staff and get those apps sent this way. Prizes will be distributed by random drawing everyone has a chance to win something nice. More info can be found at texassouthsection.com

  8. I have shot a single stack almost exclusively ever since the provisional category came about. I switch to limited for one match before the Texas State Limited match and then go back to SS immediately. With that said I just bought an M&P 9L and plan to shoot a little production in the upcoming year

  9. I had the same problem with failure to extract from my M&P Pro, as well as light primer strikes. I sent the gun back to S&W and they turned it around in a week and a half. The work they performed was:

    1) Replaced the extractor.

    2) Replaced the striker assembly.

    3) Modified the barrel (I don't know what they modified).

    4) Replaced the sear (I wish they had not done this as I had done a trigger job on it and had the pull down to 3lb).

I put a couple hundred rounds of Winchester white box on it today with no problems.

Where did you find instructions on the trigger job? Or did you just figure it out yourself?

  10. Thanks guys I think the 9L will fit my bill especially since I plan on having trigger and sight work done. I will have to check out the slide profiles and see which I prefer. And it may come down to availability.

  11. I am interetsed in purchasing one or the other. is the Pro worth the extra money? I plan on having a trigger job done on the gun and possibly the sights changed. I need informed opinions on which way to go. I am not buying the standard M&P just because I like the looks of the 5" gun. Thanks

  12. I will go with SS. I have pistols to compete in all divisions, but my favorite pistol is the SS I had built in the late 80's as my competition/duty gun. It runs like a house a fire, it is highly customized with every part changed or modified in someway. It used to be a Springfield GI it now looks like a TGO 1. I had this gun built when Robbie was "The Good One" and Brian had hair.
