    I tried to watch some older videos of myself and compare them to the newer ones, but it's hard to see a difference from my perspective.

    My PSR really begins with the walkthrough, since everything is based on what I figure out during that few minutes. When pasting targets before I'm up, I usually zone out to an extent and just clear my mind. When I'm on deck, I run through my stage plan a few more times in my head. When the targets are being scored and pasted for the last shooter before me, I take a final walkthrough. During the make ready, I manipulate the gun in the "face box" only. After the make ready, I take a few deep breaths and position my off-hand where it needs to be for the start while keeping my right hand either on my gun or on my stomach (not in the start position) until I am ready. I move my right hand into the start position when I am good to go. I inhale one last time at the "Are you ready?" and exhale at the "Standby".

    Pretty simple eh?

    It's been a while since I posted in here, but...

    As of the latest Classification update, I am now a B in Production (60.59%). Now if I can just get competitive at that level, I'll be ok. If anyone needs me, I'll be dryfiring. :cheers:

    I've also been looking to see if anyone makes a smaller magwell but it's darn near impossible to tell if the JP or the T.H.E. is bigger or smaller or the same size as the Dawson. Nobody has dimensions. But I don't want to start to drift my own thread!

    From what I've seen, the Dawson ICE is one of the smallest magwells for a Glock that still blends nicely to the grip. Also, they really aren't that big on a full size frame, at least when you compare it to one like the SJC, that thing is huge. I own a Dawson.

    First off, welcome!

    The best way is probably to get shooters hooked on the sport by shooting local matches and they will want to shoot bigger matches eventually as they get more comfortable with it. Another option is to make friends with guys that are already shooting the local matches and talk them into traveling to bigger matches with you.

    I've been blessed to have a good group of friends that are as crazy about shooting as I am and that aren't afraid to travel for a good match.

    Congrats and good luck with the job hunt!

    I too am graduating a week from today with my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. There are times that it seems like a lifetime ago that I started (45 months ago), but there are things that feel like they happened yesterday.

    Side ports are rumored to momentarily freeze the barrel laterally as the gasses are ejected... kind of like 2 rockets opposing each other. The opposing vectors upposedly "pin" the gun in space... ->O<-

    I follow most of your post and most of it makes sense, except this part here. Two opposing forces from the side will only cancel each other out. They will do nothing to pin the gun from front to back.

    I'm looking forward to see some responses in this thread, especially from some open gun builders.

    As a mechanical engineer, I understand the physics behind it, and how they work. When it comes to some of these designs, I really can't help but think that most of what you see is artistic expression more than actual analysis driven design. Most of the wild designs that I see look as if they kept putting holes in it until they ran out of places to put more holes.

    My take is that the simpler the comp, the better. More isn't always better when it comes to fluid flow.

    Congrats!

    I just recently won my first stage this spring so the feeling is fresh in my mind. The funny thing is, I won 3 that day and still didn't get the Production win.
