  1. Doesn't look like I can justify missing this one... Glad to see it in Florida.
  2. Sent Rick my RO application the other day. Looking forward to the match.
  3. Don't worry Coach, I'm still shooting. I've just been slow to get the videos up. Here's one from a couple of weeks ago: I've got two more videos coming, last weeks match and the Sunshine State Games match back in May.
  4. That's a pretty common phenomenon for a suppressor and even certain flash hiders. I'd consider that normal behavior and nothing to be worried about. It is caused by a combination of unburnt powder and gasses being reignited. It's likely that shooting it wet will help that a bit. It should also quiet it down a noticeable amount.
  5. anything with Rhino in it would instantly be comedy gold I can't even imagine.
  6. Unless I put the Limited top end on it!
  7. There will be notches in the barrel where the taper pins engage the barrel. You will see them after removing the sight post. You will be able to see that one end of the pins are larger in diameter. They are tapered. Drive them out from the small side. Hope this helps.
  8. Thanks Coach, as usual I appreciate your input.
  9. Here's a video from this past weekend: As usual, comments and criticism is welcome. Something else new and cool and completely unrelated to the above, here's a teaser/promo video that was put together for the SHOT Show. Link
  10. There isn't enough meat in the slide to mount it up there. It's pretty thin. The usual rear sight area has a lot more material.
  11. I don't mind not having written stage briefings so much when the stages are straightforward, but there have been some times where they would be really nice to have so you aren't relying on memory for the whole match. Every now and then the squad that I'm with will get to a stage and not remember if it was that stage or the next that started in the surrender position, and other similar issues. The stages are generally pretty good, but sometimes simpler is better. I could also do without the group walkthrough, it only seems to waste time. I think a very short and generic WSB left at each stage that just shows the start position and any special instructions would easily accomplish the same task and get everyone to the shooting sooner. That's how every other club that I've shot at has done it. No need to parade the entire match around. ETA: If any of the regular match staff is reading this, I mean this all as constructive criticism. I'm not complaining.
  12. First off, thanks a bunch for the pointers. Here's some of that from my perspective. Stage 1 is the stage that I won. It was the first stage that I shot that morning and had a good clear head, so I just did it. Not much else to it really. Stage 2: I also noticed my slow exit out of that first position. I'm not sure why I didn't leave harder than that, I really should have. Looking back, you're right about that last position. I should have reloaded and shot it carefully and clean. I guess I was being overly cautious. Stage 3 had some pretty long shots on some small poppers and plates. I just plain messed those up, although not as bad as could have happened. It could have been worse with a standing reload or something. Stage 4: I shot the targets through the door from right to left. Stage 5: Interesting story... during my final walkthrough as I was on-deck, I tripped on a poorly secured fault line that was sticking up. It caught my shoe and I went down face first. Luckily I caught myself without injury and my gun stayed in the holster. Needless to say that tripped me up mentally and I didn't get a good last mental program for the stage. I can assure you that I had a plan, pretty close to what you described, but I was nowhere close to executing it. I missed my reload points and everything, it was bad as you can see. The way they do it at that club is they do a group (every shooter) "walkthrough" of all the stages immediately after the shooters meeting at the beginning of the match. They don't do written stage briefings so they rely on that to get everyone on the same page for start positions and all that. It's worthless as far as getting a good look at the stage is concerned, so the only real time to get a good plan together is in the 5 minutes before shooting the stage or show up early enough to walk them all. 5 minutes is usually enough for me.
  13. haha... yeah, it was a bit chilly that morning. I left my jacket off after that first stage though. I actually got a slight sunburn. I agree that the stages there can be a little too involved for a club match at times. Field courses are fun, but 5 of them make for a long local match with 5 squads of 12-15 people. I'd like to see a speed shoot every now and then, a classifier every month would do the trick. Of course a 37 round field course with 17 pieces of steel including a Texas Star and a track meet is kind of fun. The Mississippi Classic is on my list of matches for 2010, as well as Area 6. I'm still trying to figure out if I can afford to shoot the Florida Open.
  14. Here's a video from this weekend. 6th of 19 in Production with a stage win on the first stage shown in the video. As usual, comments welcome.
  15. The KAC Triple Tap is a Compensator and a Flash Hider. I've shot it quite a bit and it really is a soft shooting comp and the blast isn't bad at all compared to many dedicated comps. It's expensive because of the Inconel and manufacturing costs. If you are MIL/LE, contact KAC directly. I'm pretty sure that they can get you a price below MSRP, but don't quote me on that.
  16. As of right now, I'm not going. There's always a chance that will change but it's very slim. Went last year in Orlando and it did seem a bit out of hand with non-media photographers and non-industry affiliated attendees.
  17. It is just you! The picture was fromm 2005 which meant the 2004 rulebook was in effect which had a 9 round limit in 1.2.1 Good catch!
  18. Is it just me or is that an illegal stage requiring 9 shots through the furthest port...
  19. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. For instance, I used to have this problem shooting steel, where I would just hose it and end up taking too many extra shots on steel. I'm still working on it, but I've been trying to be better at making each and every shot count. I've since noticed a difference in shooting steel and tight shots. I had to slow down in order to do it, but I had to prove to myself that I could do it. Since slowing down a little, my scores have improved while my times haven't had to change that much. You can slow down the shooting part, and still do everything else fast without losing too much time on a field course. Being a Production shooter and shooting at matches that seem to be 80% Open shooters I've learned this: Don't focus on the stage times of other shooters. Shoot your own match. That's all you can do. You might surprise yourself when you stop thinking about it. Have you considered shooting your wide gun in L10?
  20. We'll either run out of ammo money or get accurate really quickly...
