  1. PK,

How do you rate the your M1A Scout rifle against the DPMS? I shot my M1A Scout at SMM3G and thought it worked fine. Stages 7 and 8 were the high points of the match for me, the rest worked out to be my normal average stuff.

I other words should I get the Bushmaster I have my eye on.

I know, the default answer is yes.

  2. And back to the main point. 20 gauge in an 1100 is very soft. For me the recoil of my Benelli is not an issue at this time, but less recoil is a always good thing. I think TGO once said that the 20 should be the best gauge for 3-gun.

  3. I think loading with the 20 would be the greatest advantage. The faster you load, the faster you go. I can get three 12 gauge shells in one grab, four 20 gauge shells fit in my hand better than three 12s.

  4. The new model Kimber Ten II that works with S_I mags (or so I hear) might be viable. In this way you can have the nice 1911 trigger at Glock price point. The Kmber also points better for me. You will be limited to .45 (kimber does not make a .40 in the Ten II), If they did I would have one now. As everyone should know by now the Kimber uses a Bul M5 frame.

I think I will take one of my S_I mags down to the local gun shop and check.

A magwell will be hard to come by also, but hey do exist.

I still like the S_I best. YMMV.

  5. I use the Buy Brown Kydex mag holders with the Tech-Loc belt clip. You can set them up vertical or horizontal. Buy Brown was/is one of the SMM3G sponsors. I really like the horizontal behind the back configuration for prone reloads. Oh BTW I also allways carry way more than I "need".

  6. A.A.A.D.D.

    Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. - Age Activated Attention

    Deficit Disorder.

    This is how it manifests:

I decide to wash my car.

As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall

    table.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trash can

under the table, and notice that the trash can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash

    first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out

the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check

    left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I

find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside

so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the

    refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the coke a vase of flowers on the

counter catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses

that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water

    the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water

and suddenly I spot the TV remote.

Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the

remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide

to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the

    flowers.

I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up

    the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid,

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't

watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the

remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with

    the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really

baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for

it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Do me a favor, will you? Forward this message to everyone you know,

because I don't remember to whom it has been sent.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

  7. Kelly

I always wanted a BFG. I thought a 375 H&H would do, I guess the STA is close enough. I expect to be pounded into the ground like a tent peg (some gun scribe paraphrase).

    Tightloop

    (Valdez mode on)

    Just something for rabbits.

    (mode off)

In reality I have no use for the power, but I would/will use the STA for Elk on up.

Thanks for the load information. I think I will start with the mild 225 @ about 2800 load.

  8. I could not pass up the deal. What I have is a Remington 700, 358 STA McGowan barrel, Leupold 3.5X10 VX-III, Redding dies. Anyone have/had a 358 STA? Load data?

I needed this like a kick in the head

  9. "Cowitnessing" just saved my a** in Tucson's 3gun match Sunday. No light on the EoTech, pulled it off and shot iron.

I Won the class, maybe I should just shoot iron all the time. BTW I swapped in two new battery sets, still no light.

I am thinking about getting the mini ACOG, but I still like the EoTech best..... as long as it works.

  10. My AR has a cut down carry handle behind the EOTech, they cowitness "as is". The cowitness thing is nice, but it does make things a bit busy.

I want to try it for a while to see if "cowitnessing" has any use for me in 3gun.
