  1. I filed down an old 1911 hardball (taller than the Benelli) type rear sight to fit the dovetail bacause the existing Benelli sight was too low (hit about 6 inches low at 50 yards). Now hits are about 3.5 - 4 inches high at 50 and about on at 100, or at least I can hit 12 inch plates at 100 with a center hold.

I like the Benelli rife sights.

  2. I agree with Airedale, not more than $500.00.

Check if the gun has the speedfeed carrier, you will know it does if you can push the carrier up to load the magazine without depressing the bolt release button. If the gun has speedfeed it should have been made sometime after 1952 or 53 and will be a 2 3/4 gun.

2 9/16 chambers when out in the late 30's, but I disremmber when.

  3. I just bought a 90%-95% Belgium made Sweet Sixteen for $450.00. I would not have bothered with a standard weight A5; the Sweet Sixteen is the best of the bread IMHO. The A5 is a cool old school gun that oozes old world craftsmanship, I like them. The weight of a SS should be 6 3/4 to 7 pounds.

Did you know that they will cycle faster than a benelli?

  4. As to "why companies keep building low power scopes with the reticle in the front/first focal plane". One reason might be that, front/first focal plane scopes can/will range correctly at any power setting. Second focal plane scopes will range correctly at one specific power setting, usually the highest.

I am not saying I like it, just that it's the way it works. Horus scopes/reticules are an example FFP scopes that "work" at all power settings. I agree that this is not good on a low powered variable.

  5. I want it to be ittle-bitty way out there sometimes, when I don't I can change it.

I also would like to regulate how many clicks up my 100 meter zero is with with out filing the sight or buying a taller one.

My scout rifle takes 22 clicks up for a 100 meter zero, I would rather have it be about 4 up.

I just think this sight might make M1/M14/M1A sights even better.

    YMMV.

  6. The ALLEY SUPPLY front sight is nice. For lube I use Slide Glide, make sure you lube up the inside of the op rod and op rod spring. Jut run the Springfield parts, they are fine. Get an extra extractor and spring and learn how to replace it here, (You may need to be a member of m14fl.com to view the link).
