  1. FWIW, I used to use the safariland drop offset attachment but have switched to the invictus. It give more options and, to me, provides a better angle for a smother draw.

I also use ALS for work and 3 Gun. It will retain the gun without the light but the wobble and noise is distracting, to me at least. I bought one for each. Extra money but the peace of mind was worth it.

  2. Talked to the Madison HQ office again. Was told that they have not shipped any but were scheduled to build them every month until the end of the year. Told me that once they were produced you would see them in stores within 60 days. What they couldn't tell me was when they would actually make them. They were honest in saying they were out of production capacity which was in part the reason for the Alabama move. Problem being that won't come on line for a while. Basically if they have orders for a bunch of a gun they wee tooled up for, they would produce those. Makes perfect buisness sense but doesn't help my 3 gun needs. Bottom line, May at the earliest and that is a guess.

  3. It is called NRA TPC (Tactical Police Competition) bit is only open to LEO's and MIL. They run Four to Six matches a year. In fact I ran into two of the guys that help run the Anderson, SC match every year at the 3GN SE Regional this past weekend. Yes, several of us there were cops or feds. I was even on my agency's team the one year we fielded one.

You are correct though. Most cops are not gun guys and most agencies/departments don't commit to weapons training for the average Joe, too expensive. And most don't play the gun sports as they get their hats handed to thy by civilians and their pride takes it in the rear. With that said, there are a number of us that enjoy it and appreciate what it can do for us if the the worst ever happens. The one thing we dislike are the tactical wannabe's who seem to think they know what the real world is like. Not the guys coming back from overseas, they know what hell is, I mean the mall ninjas that talk a big game but would wet themselves it it came to putting cuffs on a die in the wool gang banger.

What we play is a sport, never confuse it for the seedy world most never see. Shoot limited with a Glock, 18" shotgun and a legal SBR if you want but don't fool yourself into thinking you are becoming a Seal.

I guess what I am trying to say is, it is a sport brother, enjoy it for what it is. Training never comes close the real thing anyway, trust me.

  4. I am with MarkV (who I think for the gun I was going to order,:). I liked my 40 version so much that I got a 9mm version just for 3 gun. Again thanks Mark as it took me months to find another one. It shoots soooo flat and smooth. Even hollow points are easy to do double taps. I took it the the 3GN SE Regional and found myself blazing away better than I thought I ever could. Plan on getting an Akai custom version some day.

  5. Bart, that is the best explanation I have read since grad school. Well done. If you ask a "Zen" priest, I think he would say something to the effect "If you want it to be, it is, if not, it isn't. It is merely a way."

I tend to say yes it is. Any belief system that can draw to devotion level of setting under a waterfall in the middle of winter (real winter), ,meets the definition of religion.

  6. Heard from someone who was at Rockcastle that the relase was first of 2014. Any insight as to that. Read the Recoil article but didn't say mich and nothing related to a release date. If this is going to be another "first of the year" becomes "end of the year", I will buy the Tactical and send to Benny. Had the same experience with the FN Competition model (vent rib barrel). Great Idea, never came out.

  7. If you carry in a duty or drop rig, the weight isn't enough of an issue to deter you. I have a Tactical model that loves Winchester hollow point duty loads just fine. The Tactical model would be my suggestion. Good mix of up front weight with the ability to add a light. Down side is holsters. Blade Tech makes one if memory serves and one of Safarilands (Springfield operator) als can be made to fit with a few strokes of a dremel tool.

Fixed sight is more durable as well.

My 2¢. If I worked for an agency that didn't have its head you know where, I would be carrying mine.

  8. I have an Edge in 40, had my local gunsmith fit a 9mm bull barrel and put in an Aftac extractor, instant 9mm 3 gun pistol.

Retains the ability to switch back if need be (switching the extractor is a pain so you won't be doing it often). Shot it in on match with no hickups and in several practice sessions without a problem.

    My 2 cents.

  9. If memory serves correct, I USPSA you can rerun a classifier for a better score but have only seen it at classifier matches. Generally a second fee is charged to pay another submission to USPSA. Both scores being submitted. It generally is not done at a club match with a classifier for the very reason mentioned.

My best understanding anyway. Don't know if 3GN has same rule/allowance.

  10. I am with Bob on this one. Been using 200's for a few years now and very much like them. More of a push than a kick to me. Can't speak for Glock which I more limited due to the mag. In 2011's they are very nice if you work up a load for them. 4.6gr of old Bullseye works well in mine.
