  1. the 5906 5" was ok'ed for production by the old rules, by NROI ruling. The change in the rules also says that, any gun that was legal would not be made illegal. From my understanding, NROI is working with S&W to get weights for several of their guns to amend the weights on the list. So, to say that it is illegal, I would challenge that. I know that there has been several people that have tried there best to exclude it from production but it still is just a 5906 with a 5" barrel not a totally different gun.The 5906 pc 4" gun has been legal with no question.

Nick, I would be happy to show you my letter from J.Amidon where he says that it is not illegal at this time,02april'10. I have not been notified by Mr Amidon otherwise. --JWB

  2. Kevin,

Which way do you turn when the buzzer goes off? Maybe you should try to turn the opposite way a few tries to see if anything changes. If nothing else, you will be concentrating more because you are out off your comfort zone. If you do are the hits better is thetime noticably worse? --JWB

  3. Hunter will be going back to college on 8/21, so he is not sure that he can get away. I would sure like to be there. Erie, Pa. is a great town. I spent a week end there when I was working.I have to decide if I will go it alone ( maybe my wife will go.) I will be shooting at Ashland Ky. this Sunday I will check, and see if there is any shooters there that are interested. Hope to see yuall soon. ---JWB

  4. Great match. I had my doubts when we arrived( all the short courses), but it worked out well(Oh me of little faith). Thanks Jason, kyle, Chris, and company, I do not say it enough.

On a side note: Hunter and I went to Roosters, and got a table, and waited for an hour, and a half. NO SHOOTERS! We finally asked the waitress, is there a other Roosters in the area. She said "yes" there is one on the otherside of Circleville. Since we were sitting in Lancaster, It was probably going to be a long time before Kyle and company were going to show. Sorry guys, my brain was cooked by the heat, and stage ananlizing. See you next month.----JWB

  5. The slide profile on the 5" guns were made two ways. One way was the scalloped under side, like the 10th aniv. IDPA winter nats. gun. This style gun was mostly sold in europe. The second way was an identical slide as the 4" guns except 1" longer. These were mostly sold in the US. They also made a few 5" guns with a lightweight frame, in a PD finish. I have all four. ----JWB

  6. Since nobody has commented on the long distance shots--- Like the old timmers used to say " If you are going to shoot a double action revolver, learn to shoot it double action" for all shots. Then people will Know that you are a real revolver shooter.---JWB

  7. Corey,

I know that it is customary To say that a match was a great one, after you have shot in it, and it went well. I normally do not do to much of that. But,,, I will have to say that I had more fun at this match than any that I have shot for a couple of years. The stages looked fairly easy, but they sure could bite you. Especially stages 7 and 8. I mean, how hard can a seven shot stage be? I totally underestimated it. Grat match, and thanks to all the folks that made it happen. ---John B.

  8. It really doesn't matter what the trigger pull is, as long as it fits into your techique to control the trigger. The army, and I suppose the Marine method of shooting the slow fire stage(at 50yds) is: Put the sights at the top of the paper target. Align the sights, making sure they are as perfect as you can get them. Take up 1/2 to 3/4 of the weight of the trigger pull. If you misque the round goes over the target, and start again. Now, bring the gun, and sights down through the target to your center/ 6 o'clock hold without messing up your sight alignment. At this point (center/ 6o'cl) you have 2to 8 second (depending on experience/ muscle tone) to take up the remaining trigger weight. So, how you can control, or feel good about a trigger weight, is what it should be. Experiment, for now, and your preference probably will change.
